I said better for my specific employer, but only through the power of M&A (assuming it still goes through). I assume our bigger fish's prospects are worse.

Turns out blowing a hole in the social contract causes suffering, who could have predicted.

The chaos from the Exec branch is not unexpected if you read Project 2025. Coupling that with the inability of the legislative branch to be effective makes this a total disaster for 2025. No budget, no direction, no protections for the health of Americans. We're going to "review' yet again autism and vaccines even though it's been debunked so many times. But we aren't going to fund research. Go figure.

If this poll had been conducted in October, I'd have said business prospects were better. Unfortunately we've now been hit with the callous chaos of Trump and friends. As part of an academic medical center we are in bad shape for the foreseeable future and getting no help from our elected representatives. Research funding is highly uncertain now. DISH funding is uncertain and with Medicaid and possibly Medicare cuts on the table more uncompensated care is almost certain to occur. Physician Medicare reimbursement is reduced relative to 20 years ago despite increasing costs and more and more regulatory requirements. On top of all that, the economy is likely going to tank, throwing us into recession because of the bizarre obsession with trade initiatives and the greedy tax cuts for the wealthy. So yeah, we're not going to be doing very well...

Inevitably my bias shows through given that my personal experience was to be terminated recently. The trickle down effect of chaos is not just impacting federal workers. Can't immediately draw a line from that to my experience but I was one of several and for everyone impacted and those left behind it came as a total surprise. tmmv
