This is the easiest vote of the play-in rounds for me, because Requiem For A Dream has aged like milk. Cloyingly literal, completely lacking faith in the audience, punishing its characters like some cautionary tale screened in a D.A.R.E. program. It may have blown people away with its style when it came out, but time has not been kind to it.

Like the Celtics in '08, Gems takes the crown thanks in no small part to an outstanding Kevin Garnett performance.

Gems haunted me for a few days, Requiem has haunted me for decades.

The marketing team behind the trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers used Clint Mansell's Requiem for a Dream score. Ever since, the Requiem track "Lux Aeterna" is shorthand for harrowing. Point Requiem

The “Never Again” pairing!

Oh my word, an epic clash between two of the all time one-fers. I saw Requiem for a Dream with my girlfriend and my mother in Paris on the big screen and that was not ideal, so you would think that I would try to revisit it, but no, absolutely not, I never need to see it again. I feel the same about Uncut Gems for slightly different reasons, it is just one of the most tense films I’ve ever seen and I just never need to feel that much stress again. I’m feeling stressed just thinking about both of these movies at the same time.
Anyway, I voted for Uncut Gems because I think it would be both appropriate and hilarious for there to be an Adam Sandler movie in the tournament and not just the stakes of the game within the game.
