A brutally difficult matchup, as I think these are two of the best Best Picture winners of the 21st century. Having just rewatched Parasite, Bong Joon-ho gets my vote by the slightest of margins.

Parasite to raise the banner!

I honestly don't understand why people love Parasite so much. It tries to illicit sympathy for the lower class, but then *plot twist!* they're actually just terrible people? I get how that's complex, I just don't get how that's compelling.

Many movies in this tournament came out at a time when I was likely to see them, but before I was recording my thoughts about them. Some of those movies were so impactful that I remember how I felt. Others, even very good ones, I can scarcely remember at all. 12 Years a Slave is such a movie. How can I vote either for it against it in such circumstances? I honestly don't know, which is probably why I've forgotten who I voted for here.
