The bullet points on the website apply to non-healthcare organizations as well, especially the power of yes/no. We try to push "JOMO" (joy of missing out) to get people, especially junior colleagues who think they will benefit from face time, to decline.

Zoom is actually amazing for circumventing horrible meetings. Most of the meetings that I have to attend do not require having our cameras on which makes it easy to listen in the background and do something mindless like clean out your inbox in the meantime.

Fortunately the people who I'm usually meeting with are working at multiple different locations so we still do almost all meetings by zoom.

If there's a meeting that I'm unlikely to be called on but need to be aware of what happened, I'll record it using Snagit while doing something else and then watch it later at 2 times the speed so I waste less time.

Finally if there's a really dreadful meeting where I'm not really needed I'm not beyond apologizing for having a conflict. It's not a total lie, I'm just not specifying that I'm conflicted about wasting my time on worthless poorly run meetings.
