I think that the Social Network has somehow become under-valued, but Moonlight should be in the fina… what’s that? I’m being told Moonlight has lost? Are we sure, double checked the envelope?
Alright Social Network it is then.
Im confident Ava will figure a way out of the movie before it gets incinerated.

These two represent the last 25 years more than any other films in the poll. The rise of social media and the chaos and joy it has created: the rise of AI and the potential and threat it may hold.
Love them both, but Ex machina was the better film for me.

Easy, it’s The Social Network. I don’t know if it’s just because folks are starved for even moderately intelligent sci-fi, but in my humble opinion, Ex Machina is one of the most overrated films of the past decade.
One film about a 'not quite human, intelligent being' betraying their friends and the other one is Ex Machina. Tough choice.

I have no idea how Ex Machina made it this far and I think Moonlight is sorely missed here as well, but just considering the question at hand, I think that Fincher made a very stylish movie with an excellent soundtrack that was actually picking up at the beginning of the story of social media moguls that reality has simply blown away and Ex Machina's is much more on the money both in terms of subject matter and stakes. Ask me again in 15 years, but between these two, I'm picking Ex Machina to lose to either Tenenbaums or There Will Be Blood in the next round.

Ex Machina in the top 16 of the 21st century is legitimately insane, and over Moonlight is just straight up racism. On the day of judgment, Alex garland fans will have to explain themselves.
