It's disappointing that even with new ownership, the folks in the Warehouse spent like the bad old days. That being said, given the insanity emanating from the madman 50 miles south of us, whether the O's have a good season is really not that important.

Why is it year after year that we don’t develop starting pitchers that can go more than five innings. If we push them even a little bit they get hurt. It seems like expectations are really reduced and getting to five innings is a small victory. This should not be. The team this year seems very thin and experience is clearly lacking in the outfield. Hey guys Trey Mancini is available!

I'm most concerned over the injuries. These men are supposed to be in top physical condition with top professional trainers. Yes, injuries happen but it seems like they're always major: 60 day IL, out for the season, he's "up", he's "down", maybe an operation. How about a couple of days off sometimes? You never know if a pitcher will stumble off the mound and need Tommy John surgery! Conditioning or treatment? That's my concern.

The Orioles, I’m paying the price for failing to acquire a front line. pitcher during the off-season. Meanwhile, the Red Sox added not only an ace in Crochet but a first rate hitter from the right side in Bregman. Both of theimą played key roles as the Sox drubbed the listless Oʼs last week. The money-ball Orioles are being left in the dust and the fans are feeling abandoned by management and ownership.

There are too many early season injuries. The pitching and defense are poor. The hitting is inconsistent.
We need a few impact players but the management doesn’t seem to agree.

Although it's early, I'm seeing so much of the way last year ended: The Orioles of the first 10 games are. to date. an ordinary team made up of some extraordinary talented individuals. It's time to jettison the ordinary (e.g. Jorge Mateo) and give the potentially-extraordinary (e.g. Coby Mayo) a chance to succeed. I'd rather see Mayo struggle at the plate and in the field while he gets his footing, rather than stand by and watch Mateo flail about lislessly at the plate and in the field.
The Orioles of the next 152 games are going to need more than mediocre pitching. So far, good pitching has made the Orioles look pitiful.
So. please get busy Messrs. Elias and Rubestein: Do what you need to get some strong arms on the mound before we get to the All-star break an underachieving sub-.500 team.

The team did little to improve their pitching staff. No proven winners, and not much depth. To see top tier pitchers go to other teams is hard to watch. The Orioles have drafted well and developed the talent. But the front office seems slow to lock the players up to long-term contracts.
On another subject, the Orioles have whittled down the benefits of being a season ticket holder. You have to buy your way into the lounge, for the second year in a row I didn’t get a Yankees game, but I get two Blue Jays games.
It is only a matter of time before the seats behind home plate become high-price corporate seats and those that have had those seats for years will be pushed up and out.

I'm surprised I read the story. I guess I saw it as chance to vent. Last season was my last watching or caring about the Orioles. Didn't renew my partial season ticket plan. Haven't watched a single pitch on MASN. I can't take Kevin Brown and his statistics classes. Nobody wants to hear that garbage. I had the MLB package until this year. No other broadcast team in the Majors spew as many mind-numbing stats as Brown, McDonald and company. It completely distracts from the game/broadcast. What was the stat some guest threw out last year -- what a pitch would do compared to if there were no gravity? What? Rubenstein is no better than the Angelos family. And the O's are playoff choke artists with a manager who should have been fired instead of scapegoating so many assistants. And then MLB turns the game into beer league softball with stupid torpedo bats -- no thanks.

Too early for this survey. Re-run it after 30 games. The results after reaching 30 will be vastly different, and probably closer to meaningful

Well first I would get rid of Mateo and bring up Mayo. Second I would send Hyde packing, he doesn't know how to manage a talented team and already is destroying the bullpen. Sitting both Mullins and Kyrsted yesterday so dumb.
With that Said if they can stay close getting Bradish and Wells back will be huge mid season. And WTH is going on with Grayson?

I'm a little concerned, but signing Sugano and getting Batista back should help a great deal. And Gunnar almost certainly will get going. I wasn't so happy with the Gary Sanchez signing, but we shall see. And if Grayson can stay healthy, perhaps if uncle Charlie is still ineffective, Grayson can take his place.
Go O's!

Another fallow offseason. Not a player in the necessary high end free agent market. Apparently resting on the laurels of dynamite home grown youngsters, which only gets you so far. Lazy and complacent.

It is a 162 game season. I don’t like to see the slow start on the early injuries. But it is far too soon to get any credible reading. There is far too much talent to to throw them under the bus

The front office for the last two years has shown they have no clue about pitching. When I read the GM say he didn't care about a good one starter,.that he wanted lots of pitches I knew the Os would.be in 4th place at best. They have completely waste play off teams the last two years. The GM and manager need to go

We need an ace. I would consider an ace to be a pitcher who consistently wins twice as many games as they lose. We have had some one-year wonders but no true ace since Mike Mussina left and that was more than twenty years ago.

pitching, defense and good baserunning wins baseball games. Out hitting will come around but we must field an excellent defensive team every game!!! Paul Blair never/seldom sat out....neither did Mark Belanger....neither should Cedric Mullins. Not sliding into home plate to avoid a tag is unforgiveable. Let's Go O's !!!
Joe LaFleur - 8 months ago
Too early to jump off the cliff. They have plenty of talent but need to play up to that potential. Not doing it now. Not hitting right now with runners on, lack of hitter concentration. Pitchers - too high in the strike zone too often.

We knew coming into the season that starting pitching depth was going to be a problem, and that's showing. What's more surprising, is just how little defensive depth there is in the outfield.

I'm finally concerned that coaching isn't going to take this extremely talented team to the next level. I mean they snuck up on folks 2 years ago, but now as an expected team to compete for the pennant and go deep in the playoffs the coaching and management decisions on the field since before last year's all-star game has been a head scratcher over and over again. Hyde doesn't put a fire under his players performances or for the need to make adjustments...or worst...his lineups. Yesterday's lineup was the showstopper for me on him. Something has to change, or we are going to miss our window of opportunity when we cannot sign this core to long term extensions. I though Hyde was the perfect coach on the rebuild and for the overall youth of his team, but I'm not sure he can take this team to where it's expected to be. Remember we've yet to win a playoff game with his as manager.
