Firstly, no, they should not be given money to return home.
Secondly, what ages are we speaking of here? Are we talking children who are still classified as children or the ones who came as "minors" and are now of legal adult age status?
For any of the "minors", the option should be leave on your own and reapply for possible admission back to the USA or deportation without the ability to ever be allowed back in the USA-take your pick.
No letting them live with relatives here who are not their parents(who need to be legal), no putting them in the child care system of any state or letting them be adopted. NO NO NO.
The children (minor or now adults) need to be shipped back to their country of origin and hopefully their family. No staying here in the USA for any reason.

Unaccompanied minors have either been stolen from families, or families have sold their children in order to get into the US. We cannot reward this behavior. So if a child crosses the border illegally and is not with verified parents, then that child should be declared an orphan and immediately placed for adoption, and not with other family that might be here. Unless the parents have filed some documents stating they were taken from them. Then the child should immediately be returned to parents.
I get that they are trying to do the financial issue since it costs less than deporting them, but we are constantly rewarding illegal behavior, which only escalates the illegal behavior.
We actually should do the opposite, impose those fines that were promised for those who didn't self-deport, and go after ALL illegals in the country. Then make the ineligible to return to the US for any reason.

No. We should not reward them for coming here illegally! If anything give them just enough money to get home. And no ,more, and then make sure they get on that plane. Will there be people making sure they actually leave? . But I still say….just deport them and don’t ever allow them back in. Why are we giving them money for breaking into our country? When a dem gets back in office, they will be right back in!

Yes. If we can entice them to leave before they get married and/or start dropping babies, that will mean less children granted automatic citizenship after the dingdong judge blocked Trump‘s order. It will cost much more than $2500 per child to fight the looney left to remove the “children“ from the USA. It needs to include a stipulation that if anyone accepts a buyout to leave, if they come back illegally, they face fines up to $50,000.

For the kids sure, but I could see it being abused. By the parents or even the receiving country. I would hold the money and if the child were to return “legally”, they would receive it upon them becoming an American citizen if they choose so when they reach the appropriate age.
