I use a lot of SM, probably to the detriment of my mental health! But each one has a different use case. LinkedIn to research candidates for employment or learn the backgrounds of speakers at conferences; Facebook only to connect with my older family members and friends; Instagram to connect with younger family members and follow musicians and chefs I like; Bluesky for following journalists; Threads is a combo of journalists, bloggers, and some of the most delightful content (I highly recommend Sandwiches of History guy). I dropped X. That place just became too nasty and violent for me. For YouTube, I follow musicians and a lot of podcasters who have now enabled video. Pretty interesting biz model for YT. I believe there something like 20 percent of their users watching podcasts.
I don't do TikTok (cause China)
LinkedOut - 1 month ago
For all the people who use Linked In, could you comment on how it adds value for you? I occasionally use it to see what someone's background is (for example in terms of physician's educational background) but it seems pretty useless otherwise in addition to sending annoying requests about people "you may know". At least on Facebook and X, I can set my account to show plenty of cute dog and cat pictures (with an occasional horse or donkey).
