I wrote unsure because it depends on if it is limited. I have been to refuges where drilling is done respectfully & in a contained area. The industry has come a long way in regarding safety & protecting the environment.

I have a home in Oklahoma and there are oil wells all over the state. Not all of them are active at this time. But they seemed to have done no harm to the environment. Yes, you see these drilling wells in fields.
So as long as they are responsible in what they do and don't destroy the environment, there is no reason why oil wells and wildlife can't coexist.

I have read the environmental reports from previous drilling up there in Alaska - they bent over backwards to make sure there was no damage and they even improved their areas as they explored for oil. I doubt they would harm the wilderness on purpose. Look at how hard they try to keep the off shore drilling sites safe for everything.
