Since Thanksgiving has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Pilgrims and Indians, it has never been taught correctly to anyone that is living today. It is about giving Thanks to God, The Creator, The All-Being.
From a Proclamation by G Washington, dated October 3, 1789
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be--
That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks--
for His kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation --
for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--
for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed-- for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted --
for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us…
… and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions--
…to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed --to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--
To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us--
and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best
It has since evolved to Pilgrim and Indians and pardoning turkeys and welcoming Santa, instead of giving Thanks to The All Mighty.

The schools do not teach history as it should with facts. The woke narratives and political BS has been used to destroy our history. with falsehoods, myths and non-facts. Hell, they won't even teach students the real reason the people from the Mayflower came over from England was for religious freedom. Nothing about this meets the woke narrative, but yet this is what taught. I am so glad my kid was home schooled.

It depends on the school district policy.
My small town in Northern California teaches the traditional Thanksgiving history. I can't speak for the rest of schools in California.

Schools teach our youth nothing. They can hardly read, they can only print and cannot create a “signature “. The history is slanted to the liberal views and not factual. They don’t know where states and we where countries are in this world. But they know how to play video games etc. Our schooling system has failed this country.
No, I feel that the true meaning of Thanksgiving has become commercialized like Christmas. The pilgrims were thanking the Indians for helping them. It has become all about the turkey, parades, etc. Christmas was about the birth of our Saviour Jesus. Not trees and presents and a jolly old guy giving out presents. We all need to remember why we have what we have today. If the American Indians had not helped the first settlers, they would have starved and died that winter. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!❤️
