At the holidays we very rarely bring it up as we are just enjoying ourselves and not making it a stressful time! But during the rest of the year we have no problem having lively conversations about politics!
Sometimes it is great to get away from politics!

Been there -- done that - trying to discuss anything political with family and friends during the holiday gatherings. You can walk away from friends, neighbors, co-workers. However. Family is forever.

Maybe start off with a class on conflict resolution, but still think talking should never be taboo.
I said yes that politics should be discussed during Thanksgiving’s day. This was the first time I ever said yes. With the Muslim problem in New York and through out the Country I voice my opinion. Also was furious about the two national guards that were shot and on savagely murder. It was just under my skin this year

I think this discussion should not take place during this time due to the divisiveness of the topic. It should be done afterwards and done with respect and understanding that each person has their opinion which may differ from others.

I’ll only get into a political conversation if I know that most in the room are conservatives. Otherwise it’s no longer worth it to me to go there. I’ve lost enough family and friends to disagreements over politics and the covid scam and shots. Not by my initiation of the topics or my choosing to disconnect.
