Of course Matt isn’t irreplaceable, but why did WINK want to? One of the, if not the, most popular people at WINK. Plus in the weather world here. Watching him was like watching a friend in your family room, just made us that comfy. The whole ordeal is hard to wrap my mind around. I do feel badly for whomever will take his place. He/she will be in a no win situation, at least for good while. UGH

Obviously the management at your station has no professionalism or common sense. Why would you fire a respected and popular worker without cause? WOW! WINK you have really 'soiled' the bed with this bonehead move. Matt was the most experienced, hurricane savvy weather guy in the market and you dump him. He was the steady, objective professional during all of our storms, resisting the "hype" insisted by the station owners to sound the alarm re: any
potential disturbance just to tease viewers to stay tuned for 'breaking news' updates. The vast majority of these were never coming to Florida let alone the Gulf Coast which was apparent days/weeks in advance.
Further, by firing him without notice and, more importantly, not giving him a reason and ignoring any inquiries for clarification you have sandbagged any future attempts by Matt to secure other employment
while he's under this dark cloud you have created for him. His replacement? Broadcast a copy of the Farmer's Almanac - more accuracy and think of all the $ you'll save by not hiring a replacement. What a bunch of small market losers.

Matt Devitt helped us through many weather issues over the years. I trusted his forecast and listened to him as he guided us through those horrendous hurricanes. What a BIG mistake the station has made!!! He gave his all to his viewers and deserves time with his family!!!
