Should Batavia consider switching to a volunteer fire department?

    Because of the Taylor law, going to a volunteer fire dep't would be difficult. However, our fire service should be a county wide service using both paid and volunteers and operated by the county gov't. That would provide better coverage for the entire county and save millions on equipment costs. It would also get the city tax rate down to near or below zero. As an added thought, it is my opinion that the costs of the city police dep't, in addition to all law enforcement costs in the county, should be a function of the county gov't. We're all in this together. Lets all share in the costs together and equally
