Would you support airports privatizing security & eliminating the need for TSA?

On another note, my son and I missed our flight a few months, well before the shutdown, bc I let my son go 1st. I had booked the flight, but wanted him to go 1st so he'd know what it would be like to fly on his own. The TSA from a Dallas airport took his driver's license (apparently didn't really look closely, if even at all) and scanned him as me. After scanning (in my opinion, obviously without looking) she realized he was born in the 2000s as opposed to the 1970s like me. We then had to get him re-ticketed, causing us to miss our flight. When I questioned this and blamed her for not looking at his ID, she took no responsibility and acted like she did nothing wrong. Fortunately we weren't on our way to a funeral or other ultra important business. I honestly wonder how thoroughly they even look, which is very scary!!

I know the Kansas City area is considered a joke and just flyover country, our airport is run by a 3rd party, not TSA. What does this mean? Equal if not better and safer service than anything government run. Fairly in and out service, definitely during the government shutdown!!

Considering how rude and nasty they are at PHL (Philadelphia) Airport, it would be a welcome change

With all types of fraud and drug cartels and criminal webs running rampant in the world today, I can just see this privatization as another way to “look the other way” when it comes to contraband or trafficking.

In our city, the joke has always been ... "If Costco or Target or Walmart operated on the same level as our local Post Office, they would have filed for bankruptcy years ago." Anything that the government touches always ends up in a nightmare of endless red tape and a complete lack of efficiency. Hire a private firm to oversee the "TSA Department" - it's a guarantee that it will be successful.

Turn Security over to the Military.

Yes, it used to be private before 9/11. They should advise and audit security protocols, but that would be it.

They will not get paid well and not have any benefits.

Yes. Airports should have their own security. Bcuz they make money it’s a business right? So why are Americans paying for it. Absolutely let them incorporate it into the price of the tickets.

Absolutely not. Homeland Security needs to be handling the airports. They need to pass Kennedy's idea that the entire government does not get paid, if they can't pass a budget.

That could mean that what was legal in Atlanta or Denver could end up being illegal in Chicago or New York. Passengers will be playing Russian roulette as they travel across the country facing unwarranted financial hardships imposed by fines or even imprisonment.

As long as Democrats aren’t the ones running them !! I think they already do this in San Francisco. How is it working there ??

Air flight safety should not be held hostage when Congress cannot do their job. Their selfish agendas, many paid for by the lobbyists, should never interfere with public safety. Yes, privatization of air flight safety is needed!

  • David - 1 week ago

Yes as long as it’s done right and safe!

That and the post office also!
