Do you believe social media should be restricted to children under 18?

When computers became an integral part of the households - the responsible parents would not permit their underage children to have the units in their bedrooms - behind closed doors. The computer was placed in "the family room" where everything could be witnessed. And, the responsible parents would check over the history of the unit every day. Anything out of sorts, would have been addressed immediately. (That's how we raised our children).

I’m nearly 60, so I grew up without technology shaping my childhood. We played outside, used our bodies and imagination, and stayed active. That lifestyle kept us healthy, helped us sleep, and taught us how to engage with the real world.

Today, many kids rely on screens for entertainment instead of creating their own experiences. They sit more, move less, and often struggle when that technology is taken away. The emotional reactions we’re seeing—meltdowns, anxiety, even aggression/violence—point to a level of dependence that’s hard to ignore.

In my generation, consequences like losing outdoor time taught us discipline, coping skills, and accountability. Now, many kids can’t handle even a short break from their phones, and too often, parents hesitate to enforce boundaries.

At some point, we have to call it what it is—addiction. And it raises serious concerns about the influence of the companies designing these technologies and the long-term impact on our kids.

The sad thing is, if parents was being real parents to their children, there would be no need for these lawsuits! It is a sad society that we sue for not taking care of our responsibilities!

It should be restricted by the parents. Adults should limit their time on social media too.

It doesn’t matter if age restrictions are in place when parents or guardians lie about the age of their children and provide phones and devices freely to the kids for all of the weakest excuses imaginable!

There is SO much misinformation and crap being posted young people should not be seeing it as they may not be able to rationalize that it could be false or twisted truth. Praying parents are talking to them about things.

This would be great for those kids that get bullied online! Putting a stop to that would be huge! As well as all the other stuff they don’t need to be dealing with or have their minds controlled!
