Whatever was happening, it sure sounded tense. Problem is that I have to say "whatever was happening," because I couldn't tell what was happening. Partially my own fault for reading too fast, as I missed the "to" in the first sentence and thought Roy was the one screaming. Still, on rereading, I still didn't know what was happening, and I wouldn't have bought the book.
