While I believe that public employees are entitled to a fair and comprehensive disability plan, I have a concern when a disabled employee is able to work and make a good income at another job, yet continues to receive their full disability. There should be a sliding payout based upon all other outside earned income a disabled public employee received. This should zero out any benefits being received IF AND WHEN the public employee is able to match or exceed the base income for the public position they are no longer able to perform. To have it any other way unfairly enriches a public employee at the expense of the tax payer. These public employee obviously would still be able to receive their retirement benefits at such time as they qualify for them.
