I cannot answer this forced choice (Yes/No). I've never signed a non-compete, nor have I ever been asked to do so.
Non-competes are wildly abused in the present. Companies use them to suppress competition, intimidate their employees into staying, and weaken competitors. They are fundamentally anti-Capitalist by design.
Yet they still have a place. Limit them to senior staff only. Limit them to 1 year maximum. Limit them to those that really do have access to trade secrets.
The rest is just competition in the market, and companies need to suck it up. Most of these non-competes would fail the test of a lawsuit.

No because I always had the non-compete tied to a severance pkg - usually (6 to 12 mo) and the non-compete had clauses allowing me to work in healthcare as a consultant. Moral to the story is before you sign any non-compete - see a good lawyer.
