We heard nothing new in President Obama's speech yesterday evening. No details. No real statistics on how this is being funded. We are not happy at all with the current House Bill 3200 as it stands and neither are the majority of folks we know. Our family doctor told us that if this health care bill passes with a public option and without addressing the real needs, instead of making it a grab to control people's lives, he will choose to retire and he's only in his mid-fifties. He is not in a position to retire but he will if he can't help his patients like he loves to do. He's one of the best family doctors around and we'd hate to see him leave medicine because of idiot politicians sticking their noses into areas that most don't know squat about.

The only thing we know to do at our home is to get on our knees and pray and to stand up for what is right, voicing our opinions as guaranteed by the constitution, and believing God will give all in positions of power HIS wisdom -- certainly their own for the most part has failed miserably.

Any poll on Fox is a joke. Robots walking in lockstep. Repubs piling on with glee, fortified by hate and divisiveness. No respect for the Presidency. I hope the terrorists aren't watching, I'm sure they feel it would be much easier to attack a divided country. Repubs are the most non-patriotic members of our society.

If you want to talk about being divided, what about last night when the president leads the democrats in trying to make a mockery of the former administration for increasing the deficit. Yes President Bush did spend some money on bringing the fight to the terrorists that attacked us but I think it was money well spent. It is in the Constitution that the federal government provide for our safety and security. What isn't in the the Constitution is providing for the every need of every citizen, like healthcare, cash-for-clunkers, a new house... The only time Obama looks at the Constitution is to look for loopholes. We all need to read the Constitution, Dems and Repubs.

Great speech by a great President. Its so nice to have the adults in charge again. You Fox listeners are a bunch of "BOBBLEHEAD" FOOLS. Keep up you wing-nut talking points, but you can rest easy. When President O gets some kind of universal health ins you will know that when lose your job or some health ins refuses to pay for your cancer treatments you too have health ins because of President Barrack H Obama. You brain dead "bobbleheald" must really like paying high prices for ins and the co-pays and deductibles. Ask your grandparents if they want to give up their Medicare and go out on the free market and purchase or TRY TO PURCHASE health ins. Ask if they want to pay $5000 per month or more. YOUR ALL FOOLS!!

"The whole Rep. deal is childish. Don't offer the public reasonable answers to the problem just complain that it's not going to work. One has to think why are they doing this? Do they not have a good answer to the problem? Are they just no interested in being part of the solution? Do they think there is no need for reform? What is the deal? Instead of just scaring everyone with CRAP and lies (yes on both sides) why not offer solutions!"

They have been putting up recommendations and ideas but the Democrats are shutting them down in Congress. Twice they have introduced amendment so the current plans specifically barring illegal immigrants from receiving care. The Democrats have rejected them both times. Wilson calling out Obama as being a liar on illegal coverage was right on the money.

  • DJR - 17 years ago

NOT NO, but Hell NO! He merely hit the campaign trail AGAIN and started his lies anew!

  • April - 17 years ago

Trish in Mass. -- I'm with you as are most Americans. The far left liberals always love "free" stuff, but guess what, somebody has to pay for it, and that's you, me and every other taxpayer I know. I'm sick of the entitlement programs and freebies for illegal aliens! As a former Mass. resident, who lived right around the corner from Gov. Patrick (sorry for you that he's your governor -- Romney was great!), I know the mindset of the liberal elites in Mass. I am so glad to be living in FL where mostly conservatives rule.

I've been trying to call Rep. Joe Wilson's office to CONGRATULATE him on saying what most Americans were thinking! Yes, it was wrong that he said it in that venue (Congress), but it needed to be said. Thank you Rep. Wilson. Keep voting for Democrats, even the so-called "Blue dog Dem's" and we'll just get more of the same nonsense! VOTE REPUBLICAN and vote OUT the RINO'S: Collins, Snowe, Lugar, Crist, Cochran, etc. NO MORE RINO'S!

Vice Presadent Obama is going to do this country write. He is triing to fix the problems Busch made from his 6 years in orifice. Lets give Oboma as chanse peeple !!

  • KCCool - 17 years ago

The only problem with the speech is that only one person from Congress had
the nerve to call him out on the lie. It should have been a chorus of them
at each one. It would have amounted to a lot of shouting because that
speech, like every other one given by Obama, was full of lies and
    half-truths.

We want a real debate. Saying, "Here is the reform I want. If don't accept
it then you're against reform." is not a debate. That's a my way or the
    highway approach.

Obama keeps saying that we need a public option to create more competition.
If competition is a good idea (it is) why is not talking about immediately
repealing the federal regulations that prevent health insurance companies
from competing across state lines? This could be done immediately and would
require no money from tax payers. When families of four in some states can
buy policies for 1/2 the price of an individual policy in another state it
tells you the market is not being allowed to work.

I want a serious discussion on tort reform which won't happen because the trial lawyers give a lot of money to the Democrats and most members of
    Congress are lawyers themselves.

I want a discussion on changing the tax code to level the playing field
between insurance purchased through an employer and individually. I hear the cry from the Democrats that people's insurance shouldn't be tied to their
employer. I agree, but the reason that it is tied there is a result of the
governments setting wage caps during WWII (more meddling in the market) but allowing employer purchased insurance to not be treated as income. Therefore it is not subject to income tax. If people could buy health insurance with pre-tax dollars it would level the playing field and many would choose to
buy policies not tied to their employer.

Let's also be clear that there is not "Right" to healthcare. You have a
right to free speech, but not to make me listen to you. You have a right to
your religion, but not to force me to practice it. Nobody has a right to
point the gun of government at my head to take my money to pay for their
healthcare. If something is immoral and criminal if done between individuals
it doesn't become ok if one of the individuals is replaced by a government
    agent.

When say that insurance companies are evil because they don't cover
pre-existing conditions it just reveals that they are completely ignorant of
what insurance is and how it works. Insurance is a transfer of risk. A
company looks at the probability of a risk happening in the population, the
cost of that risk when it does materialize, and develops a pricing model for
the policy accordingly. For example: If the population is 100, and the risk
is cancer, and the cost to treat an occurrence is $10, and it's expected
that 5 people will get cancer, the expected payout to treat cancer would be
$50. The insurance company would then break even if they sold the policies
to the 100 people for $.50. Of course they have to pay for office space,
claims reps, office staff, IT systems, electricity, taxes, and other
overhead, plus make some profit for the risk they are taking so the actual
price might be $.55. In this case if it turns out 10 people get cancer the
insurance company loses money because they cannot go raise the rates after
the policy term has started. If the 100 people could just sign-up once they
had cancer there would only be 5 people with insurance, those with cancer,
and no other premiums to pay for their care. It's the same reason you cannot
buy fire insurance after your house burns down, or car insurance after your
    in an accident.

Many states have addressed the issue of preexisting conditions by creating a
risk pool for those with preexisting conditions. All insurance companies in
the state are required to cover people (and lose money) in the pool and the
max rates for insurance in the pool are capped at some percentage o

To all those who resent opposing viewpoints: In an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Commander Data said to someone who was forcing his ideas on a group of people without allowing any discussion or argument, "Is your position so weak that it will not stand up to debate?" How weak must this proposal be that this president can't tolerate the opinions and ideas of the millions who clearly recognize a disaster in the making?
    ________________________________________________________________

Suehawk.... excellent post. Of course I am still waiting to see this over the top, fantastic speaker that will draw us all into his circle. I'm sorry but I haven't seen any outstanding speech from him yet. He only whines about the past administration (but that is O.K. only Repubs don't have the same rights if they do complain they are racists) and I haven't seen him do anything but say I want this done (like Gitmo) by end of year and you figure out how to do it. I haven't seen any orginal idea from him yet. I think that is the problem with all politicians in Washington no matter which party since none of them write their own bills let alone read them before they sign them. Come on Americans lets take our country back and become proud again.......

  • Doug - 17 years ago

This is what worries me....307 million people....92% are happy with their health care......yes we need some changes but....if your car headlights burn out....change them..put new ones in.......dont go drawing up new plans for a whole new car!!...........out of the so called 47 million uninsured ..maybe 7 to 9 million actually need it......out of 307 million people!! Just another post office !!..... big govt, breaking America!

  • enoughisenogh - 17 years ago

Lets face it, Obama did lie almost about everything in last nights speech; and again for the umpteenth time he failed to explain the specifics of this so called healthcare reform. It was rude to yell at him while he was speaking; on the other hand Obama was being rude by calling the AMERICAN PEOPLE who are against his healthcare "liars". When do we call out on Obama's lies and say enough is enough??

  • Vanna - 17 years ago

Chris Jamin... it is people like you that really show what ignorance means. ARE you KIDDING me. Give it up with the race card already. I thought this would end with proof that any person is able to be president.
I am a repub. but I also am on the board of a non profit and give back to the underprivlideged. BUT I DO IT!!! No one takes my money and gives it to drug dealers who are driving around in mercedes. Where do you live anyway....in a box. I AM THE furthest thing from a racists. I do beleive in WORKING for what I get and being a honest person.

  • Kenny - 17 years ago

If Obama is such a liar, I wonder what you guys think of Bush. Maybe I can respect that Bush often blatantly lied and did not show much attempts to hide his foul doings. Now i am NOT arguing FOR Obama, but if you guys were fans of Bush when he was president, then that alone discredits much of what you have to say anyway. I love FOX news, they entertain by spreading rumors and lying about what they report. That is what the news media is about anyway. it is to entertain. Some of you guys take FOX too seriously, even they at FOX laugh at the idiots who take FOX reports as facts. I like FOX news for what it is.

  • chris Jamin - 17 years ago

This country was build buy the slaves who worked for free for hundreds of years. They help many people here gather wealth. All this Obama socialist, communist is a coded word that means we do not want to share we blacks and latinos. The whole platform of the republican party is race based. Unfortunately for this great country.

  • Randy - 17 years ago

I voted YES because the speech did change my thinking about health care - it made me even more skeptical about the Democrats/Socialists intentions. This guy is nothing but a snake oil salesman, but this time the People aren't buying it.

Stay vigilant, or this Country, under this current administration, will become a shell of its former greatness - if it isn't already.

  • don in chula vista - 17 years ago

I love how Fox words their polls. The results look so lopsided. I voted no because it did not change my mind in support of health care reform, I was for it before and I am still for it. 8 percent voted that it changed their position, that means one speech change one in twelve Americans minds, that is huge. If it was a 50 - 50 split before speech, now it is no where close. Unless people changed their minds based on the "you're lying" comment, but I don't really think so.

This message is for Jane....this country was built on SMALL govt. Washington beleived the people (you and I ) should control this country. This is a man who had everything but gave back. All we have now are people that do for them not for the prosperity of the USA!! THAT is unpatriot. And as for your terriorist comment I live in NYC and don't appreciate people making comments like that the day before 9/11.

As a foreigner, the only cable news outlet trusworthy is CNN. MSNBC and FOX news are doing propaganda.

  • chris Jamin - 17 years ago

Fox have a problem. Instead of giving news, it is a propaganda machin for the right wing. Who ever listen to Fox remains ill informed. TO be really informed, one has to vet all the information he/she gets. FOx news will not withtand any vetting process/procedure. WHnever I watch Fox and compare the information to reality, I dfind that they are a Joke

To the dems (including Jane). All the acusations you make against the reps is the exact same thing I think about you. Really. Guess we're united in that anyway. To the repubs. We had the house and whitehouse but screwed it up because our representatives are spineless and act scared of what the dems might do. Let's remember that during the next election and vote in some repubs with some backbone.

The President is the Chief. When Bush was in office he stole an election, told the UN to kiss his Presidential tale and basically single handedly cause this country to go bankrupt. Pres. Obama needs to be Pres. to the ones that accepts him and the hell with everyone else.
    ________________________________________________________________

You must be a politician since anyone that disagrees with you can go to hell. That seems to be the attitude of all politicians in Washington now. As I said earlier, I wonder if Dems know something about the next election that puts everything in their corner so they aren't worried what the American citizen thinks or wants. Scary!!!!

  • Jon - 17 years ago

What a tremendous speech. I was truly proud to have a President stand up and so clearly lay out the hows and whys of such a vital program. If we truly want to be a civilized society, we need a program such as this.

And for those of you that will cry the repetitious cry of "the government is just trying to take more of MY money," please, take some of that precious money and go get an education. It does not cost much, look to your local community colleges. Your salary is artificially inflated to take into account the taxes you pay. If you were to suddenly wake up and find that there were no more taxes, you would also find that you were making proportionately that much less in salary. Taxes are not your money. The old phrase rings true, freedom is not free. Being decent and caring for your fellow man or woman is the price of living in a civilized society.

  • Susan - 17 years ago

Where does the bill SAY U.S. Citizenship required?? I'm still looking

  • Ozzie - 17 years ago

Doug : Yes they have made suggestions and some have been incorporated. The current bill is not before the house to be voted on because it is not finished. I have not seen one Repub. add telling me anything about their suggestions just the same old CRAP you get in an election (in any country).

If it's a great idea and can work lets hear about it give it to the public! Let us decide don't throw BS and expect it to stick.

This goes to both sides. Tell us your great ideas and how you would implement it and work it out. I would say disregard the current bill and listen what the President said not what has been written by a number of committees.

Do you agree with what the President wants in health reform? Not the wording of any bill at present put what he stood there and said what he wants in the finial bill? I agree with what he said he wants and I think a lot of people would agree that health reform in the US is needed. Now instead of pointing fingers and crying foul about the fine details sit down like they are supposed too and formulate a bill that reaches the goals of most American's stop pushing the same old political agenda!

  • Patricia G - 17 years ago

    What is patriotism?

Love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it.

We are born a nation of independent thinkers who loved this land and freedom and fought for the right to determine how they should be governed. It is this love of country and freedom that defines Americanism at its best. To demand that any American put aside their belief and understanding of who and what they are as an American in the name of doing what is considered by a consensus to be “for the greater good” or otherwise be considered “unpatriotic” is in and of itself the very essence of unpatriotic Americanism.

What defines our country is the right to speak our opinion. I may believe you to be wrong in your opinion, and I may hope to show you how you are wrong, but as its been said before, “I will defend to the death your right to speak”, as did our Fathers, and Forefathers from now to the formation of our country.

Respect the opinions of others. Debate intelligently. Document the support of facts used in support of argument. Research your facts. Listen to both sides, and form independent opinion based on what you have come to understand and know.

In accusing someone who disagrees with of being unpatriotic, of being a racist, of being a mind-numbed robot following in lockstep with others is to loose your argument.

  • chris Jamin - 17 years ago

At least, democrates, have thoughtfull and intelligent candidates for president. Republicans always present uneducated, uninformed people to run this county. Sarah Pallin is the most recent example. To vote for a ticket that includes this laddy just blows my mind as a foreigner. She is empty headed as much as Bush, Reagan an so one. What do we get in return, Bombs, Bombs and Bombs. I belive the repubs have a racial superiority doctrine that is embeded in their arrogant attitude. This will come to an end when the country gets educated because thoughtfull people will never vote for these empty headed guys

  • Ozzie - 17 years ago

    Hi,

I'm not an American but I am here legally. I would just like to say this, if the Rep.don't like the current bill then why haven't they stated how to fix it? All I have seen from them is CRAP. Instead of saying the bill will allow illegal's to access health care why not put forward wording that they would be comfortable with. If they think there are "death panels" show us were and offer different wording they would be comfortable with.

The whole Rep. deal is childish. Don't offer the public reasonable answers to the problem just complain that it's not going to work. One has to think why are they doing this? Do they not have a good answer to the problem? Are they just no interested in being part of the solution? Do they think there is no need for reform? What is the deal? Instead of just scaring everyone with CRAP and lies (yes on both sides) why not offer solutions!

I am not a Dem or Rep, I've only been in this country for 1 year. Yes I came from a county that has private insurance and public system. They work together and to be honest the public system works great if you have an emergency and is slow if you want what is called elective surgery. But that is the way it should be fix those who need it the most and those who can wait do so.

Private insurance is encouraged by a government rebate for those who can afford it and a higher tax for those who chose not to take it out.

As for illegals, don't they already get health care at the hospitals? Who is paying for that? If you have insurance and pay taxes then you are! So word the bill so if your here legally then you can't access the public system. The country where I came from treats everyone publicly and if you are not a citizen you have to pay full cost, if you don't have insurance.

    My 2c worth.

  • Doug - 17 years ago

He must think that we are rather STUPID!!! I dont want or need Govt. making me do anything. Let's keep race out of this, i know great african americans, it;s not about race, it's about big government. I don't want a socialist country, or communist either. shaun, maybe freedom is ours if we keep our heads.

  • Bonnie L.M. - 17 years ago

No, I still oppose the bill. Obama's speech was peppered with lies. 900 billion won't increase the deficit? The CBO says anything saved from wiping out fraud, waste, etc., would hardly make a dent in the cost of it. And what about the INCENTIVE to employers to dump their employees onto the government plan? Or when someone changes jobs, they have to get on a government approved plan and then can't ever get off it; they can't keep their insurance when they change jobs like Obama claimed. Read the stinking bill.

The legislation prevents the citizenship status of anyone who wants coverage, SOOO... how can illegals NOT be covered??? Abortions will be covered. Look at the sneaky way: The Hyde Amendment only applies to health and human services, and will not apply to this legislation; the Dems decided that healthcare expenditures won't be in the HHS budget, SOOOO... abortions are paid for. Our tax dollars at work.

Get ready to say goodbye to Liberty, Freedom and America as She was founded if this goes through. Just wait for the cascade of events to follow. Read the bill, read the US Constitution and find yourself a copy of The Road to Serfdom. Then research the content of Rules for Radicals.

  • Sandy - 17 years ago

As usual, President Obama can't seem to get off the campaign trail! Right now is not the time to be asking the taxpayers to pay more for anything! Now is the time to support those who are without jobs because the government has really "f----- up royally" and that includes BOTH PARTIES! Yes, there are people who do not have health insurance who have been laid off. Yes there are low-income people who cannot afford health care insurance (but who said I had to pay for them?) and that is what Medicaid is for (you know, that portion of Medicare that was siphoned off years ago). As for illegals--they get health care because of the laws that are already on the books that says "no one can be denied health care" in this country. DUH! Yes, the insurance companies are making profits--that's why it's called insurance--you have a 50/50 chance of getting sick; having a house fire; getting into an accident; etc. and that is why you have insurance and that's why they call it insurance. Profits are there to pay for just that (and yes to pay top administration too). If you didn't have insurance who would pay for everything? Think about it. Now, if the government takes over your health care and they run out of money (like they have right now), who is going to pay for it????? DUH????? So, now the government wants to be your insurer for health care and I say--GET OUT OF MY LIFE! I WOULD RATHER LET A MAN EATING LION TO IT THAN THE GOVERNMENT! They can't even pay the dealers who sold cars during the "Cash for Clunkers" farse what makes you think they can handle even 36,000 people on a government option???? GET REAL FOLKS! The Post Office is so broke they had to give people in some areas money orders for their paychecks because the government had no money at the time they were due their paychecks (just this past weekend). Yes, this is a true story--not one that Obama keeps telling about health care insurance. I'm neither a DEM or a REPUBLICAN--I'm for what is right and just. We do not need a national health care plan. We need to fix Medicare, reduce Medicaid, give a voucher or tax credit to those people who need health coverage but we do not need to fine or tax those people who do not wish to have health care coverage! Tort reform needs to be done; TX has it and it's working!

  • Shaun - 17 years ago

Let's get this black guy out of office so we can have a white republican in office. That will fix everything, right guys?? I don't want a black guy lecturing my kids to stay in school and i don't want him telling me what right for my health. I don't need a socialist telling me that we should spread the wealth and resources. Let's keep it so where a small percentage keeps all of the wealth for the entire country and not budge. We can't lose power over minorities on my watch.

  • navalacademymom - 17 years ago

    rick holt,
whos the nut, i didn't vote for bush or obama, but i'm sure you voted for one of them! what brought down this country was policical correctness! everyone should be able to buy a home even if they can't afford it! what a joke! i could afford 300.00 but i wasn't stupid enough to extend myself, so i spent 150.00 and now my house is paid off, and i am not republican.

  • Barbara Hoover - 17 years ago

Actually He didn't change my mind I have always been in agreement with him. I use to be a republican now I am an Independent. All the lies and misinformation that you people (Fox is the worst) started back with Gorge W. turned me off. It's like if you say it we should believe it. People are not that stupid and your only support is the people that always stay with the party! Try some real truthful news sometime and more people might think you are a real reporter. Hannity is the worst and OReilly is right there with him.

What else is new? There was no enlightenment and just the same sing-song empty rhetoric. It is Pelosi/Reid's way or no way. Who is running this country anyway? We really have no leader just a pretty puppet who can read a prompter. I think a bunch of Chicago thugs are leading this country too into oblivium. I am happy we are no longer a rich country. Let someone else give all their hard earned money to the needy country's including the USA. Let the U.N. move to Switzerland. We do not need them period.

I truly believe 100% that Illegal Immigrints will NOT be covered under under Obamacare. He will grant them Amnasty and then they will be covered

  • merreck - 17 years ago

Go Jane! Go Obama! I agree with Jane. Fox News and most everyone on here are out of touch with America and the WORLD. This is about the HEALTH of all citizens. Stop being such money grubbing, greedy people and care about someone else for a change. Look at all the homeless people and those out of work now. Everyone in our country deserves the same level of health care even if they aren't rich republicans.

You don't listen. You just hate hate hate. If Obama said the sky was blue you would say he was a liar.

  • Trey - 17 years ago

I know when you make a bad choice that sometimes it can be hard to admit to it but what did you morons expect out of a Chicago senator that was only 150 days into his term?? All the warning signs were there!! The most liberal senator in such a short time!! All his friends were radical nut jobs!! Even the mans pastor was extreme!! Even now people like Van Jones are starting to come out the woodwork and this is only the beginning. Now here we are divided. God help us all!! We can't just stand by and think well some else will do something! Make your voice heard!!

  • Rick Holt - 17 years ago

You right wing nuts are really something else. Bush and your republi-CAN'T congress majority through 2006 drove this country to the brink of a great depression, allowed millions of jobs and countless corportions to disappear overseas to avoid tax liability, allowed fat cat wall street executives to run free for decades due to your false dogmatic conservative creedo that "less government and regulation is ALWAYS better", spent billions of unpaid for dollars in Iraq, gave huge unpaid tax cuts to the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans ( many of whom are the owners/partners of the same health insurance agencies that are currently causing our health premiums to rise 3 times faster than wages so they can take 6 ski trips to Aspen each year instead of 1 or 2)...and you have the nerve to point fingers at others spending money to try and fix healthcare!! HYPOCRITES!

I think it bears repeating what someone just said on another blog about the fear tatics of the Right. Showing mushroom clouds, talking Death Panels and all the rest works with the kind of people that arent that brave to begin with. If you arent fearful by nature, it wouldnt frighten you. So, what does it say about all you idiots out there? I think this was easy enough for you to digest all on your own.

I hope Jane wakes up and decides not to be a pathetic moron who is so naive she believes all this bull. I also hope she doesn't have to wait 52 days to get a Dr. appt, wait 44 weeks for a hip or knee replacement or finds she or her daughter have breast cancer that has spread into two or more lymph nodes (that means more than 1) and the government plan dictates her survival rate is to low to treat. Welcome to government health care. Check it out in Canada and England. Nothing here about patriotism, it is about stupidity

  • Ken - 17 years ago

There was a time when fear of the government was both healthy and reasonable. When our constitution was written, we, as a people, needed protection from the monopolistic and corrupt power of government. Today, however, the reality is that our recession was caused by our corrupt banking and investment industries, whose primary interests was their deep pockets and not the average Joe investor. The health insurance industry conducts "death panels" everyday when they decide it is not cost effective to keep the truly sick insured. If there is a corrupt and monopolistic power to fear today, it is the virtually unchecked power we have given to big business. The case of the Ford Pinto is the classic example of how callous big business can be when it deems foreseeable deaths to be cost effective. The unchecked power of big business is what we should fear today. If it is cost effective to layoff thousands, hire illegals or send jobs oversees, they will do it. If a product produces a high risk of death, but is cost effective, they have and will put it out on the market. Our health insurance industry exists for profit, not for our well-being and it literally has the power to make life or death decisions. I don't know about you, but to leave that type of power unchecked, unregulated and subject to corruption is indeed quite scary to me. I am not for big government. I am not for big business. I am for checks and balances. In today's reality, big business, like the insurance industry, wields too much unchecked power and corruption and I believe it is time for our Congress, not to take control, but to provide us with some measure of protection.

Obama is a slick car salesman who could sell ice cubes to Eskimo's however what he wants should not and cannot happen. He puts too much faith in a government plan that is too big and controls our lives. I hope his plan crashes and burns. He's a one term President, Thank God!

  • FRANK - 17 years ago

Personally the speech was inspriring, but it should of been more bi-partisan. Obama for the most part has the country's best interest in mind, he at least is in the the right frame of mind, I mean after all he is supposed to be serving the people not playing political games with Repubs and Dems. It might be that the Repubs seem a little envious that there is a Democratic president in office that can at least hold a thought. Nevertheless, I hate to sound a bit cliched but can we all just get along and let the man do his job.

  • True American - 17 years ago

Why dont we ask the troops who are fighting for this country on their input. People who say that republicans are not patriotic and un amercican need to move to canada or europe. if ur not satisfied with this country and what our founding fathers have instilled in it, then move to another country because the true americans are very happy with our country. This speech has so much of a hint of deception it is not even funny. Obama is deffinitly pushing the socialist agenda, and when poeple say that this reform is what has been being tried for 60 yrs needs to wake up smell the coffee and realize that the socialists are the ones that have been pushing for this. Not the REAL AMERICANS who believe in the constitution and every god given enaliable right we are given. It is our choice and the government is not the solution, they are the problem. The government needs to start listening and stop pushing. And as for the guy who said "u lie", I give him thanks because i was saying the same thing at the same moment and other moments like when he said this not trying to push government run healthcare. I can see right through the lies and so can the rest of people who know the process of communication and the five canons of rhetoric! Lies, Lies, and more Lies!! Why cant the President just come out and say the truth about this whole deal instead of trying to mask the REAL agenda. AND the republicans have a very good option! let the companies compete nationwide, we dont need a government option to make competition, let the private sector do it on its own, and since they DO want a government option just shows even more that they want government run healthcare, any non socialist small government person can realize the TRUE agenda of this whole deal if you know about history... I am a college student and am very worried about where this country is headed. I am from a farm and I love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and my constitution. Take the change and change it. Because the change that Obama wants it not the change he was voted into office for, so start listening and stop pushing because im sure he wont be in office for another term unless congress makes a bill making him dictator, which by the way we are headed wouldnt suprise me if something like this was proposed. hahaha I pray starting today that people start standing up for our freedom and the constitution and that the republicans will stand togethor in REAL reform. not socialist reform..... Sorry for the bad sentence structure. just trying to get my view across. But whatever happens happens. I will say no to the government option but if it passes than thats what ill accept because I BELIEVE in the BIBLE and the truth of it. All of the things prophesied are falling into place and this is just another stepping stone for the real global agenda. Cspan is a good way of leaking out the true agenda.. And as for tommorrow I think we need a rememberence, not a nationial day of service. I mean if we are serving, who are we serving, "people who dont need the help?", no the people who need the help are the poor and a government run healthcare is not the answer, the people are the answer and the problems can be solved with the people. America is a great nation and helps out the whole world and feeds millions of mouths outside of our country. America is not IGNORANT, the OOO is for apologizing to other nations. Chavez has a point about obama, and from all the small people like myself alike agree that America is great and im sorry but we are a christian nation, there is alot of diversity, but the Christian church is the one that helps out the rest of the world, not any other religion helps out the poor or the needy like the christian church. There is a church on alot of corners of every city. I dont think Ive ever entered a city that doesnt have one. sorry for the looooonnnnnggg rant but ive never wrote my own opinions about this country before so think about it and agree to disagree

If Mr. Wilson should apologize and be condemned for breaking the silence during that last B.O. repeat speech then so should the several dozens who did the same thing ...very enthusiastically .....45 other times during that speech.....Mr. Wilson spoke the truth......as Ms Nancy has removed all amendments in HR3200 that would EXCLUDE illegals..... Someone is not reading their bill!!! or which bill are we talking about.....or better yet Where's the Bill?? and... Where is the sample policy that we can view and read the fine print and then decide if we want to buy it?? THEN and only then should there be a vote on it!! You have to have all the ingredients together in one bowl to mix them together BEFORE you attempt to put the cake in the oven to bake!!!
Then you have to bake it BEFORE you serve (eat) it!!! This is all so crazy!!!!!

Good for Wilson as millions of us were yelling 'liar' to our TV screens. This President is a walking lie and a Marxist to boot. Let's hope America wakes up in 16 months and boots the Dems out on their arse. How dare the President talk about 'scare tactics' and then say....and more will die? What bullshit. I am embarassed that he is our President.

  • Melissa Hill - 17 years ago

He can continue to repeat himself and he can continue to push this message. BUT THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA ARE ON TO HIM. At no point during his speech did he acknowledge that half of the people in this country disagree with him, and no longer trust him. At no point during his speech did he say “Yo, Nanc, scrap the crap and start again!” At no point during his speech did he say, “If you read Page [x], Section [y], you will CLEARLY see that this bill will do [ABC].” Why?? BECAUSE NOTHING IN THE CURRENT BILLS SUPPORT HIS RHETORIC, BUT IN FACT DISPUTE IT. And he’s not proposing to change a single line in any of these bills. HTTP://WWW.IRRITATING.ME

  • JAMES - 17 years ago

It would seem to me that the politicians WHO WERE THERE DID NOT CHANGE THEIR MIND. Everyone need's to be reminded to read the constitution. Where does congress or the senate’s have the right to force the people to have HEALTH CARE just like AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE, the ones who really need it will be just the ones that can’t afford it? You only get auto insurance so you can drive which is a privilege not a right. Look to each state they all have different insurance regulation's to tax and enforce this privilege, and the ones who can't afford it will be fined and punished. Cash for clunkers did the best that they could to eliminate cars that some could use. With a program that destroys functioning autos instead of passing them on to the people in need (I forgot they CAN NOT AFFORD the insurance) I still hear daily of someone who is not licensed driving. Ask any Canadian or Brittan how long do they have to wait for health care under the CANADIAN SYSTEM there it is a right but they pay with HIGHER TAXES AND LONG WAITING TIMES. Any bill that passes will be nothing more than a foot in the door for government intervention to your health.

I have learned to "watch what he does" because that is most often quite different than what he "says". Because of this consistency in his behavior I do not trust anything he says. His figures don't add up and if it was so easy to clear up the waste and fraud from Medicare and Medicaid, why are we siting at the end of 2009 with it still going on. We WILL pay for illegals, they go the the hospital ERs and can't be asked for status papers, who has been paying for this all along - US, no change there. Obambi didn't seem to listen to what the public had to say during the month of August, well maybe everybody will listen up come the 2010 & 2012 elections.

I guess it's different now that you have "your man" in office. Typical.

  • Alan - 17 years ago

I would gladly support the President "IF"

    1. If the Healthcare package adds one cent to the Budget Deficit then the President, House and Senate will contribute their entire salary for that fiscal year to the Budget Deficit.

    2. If the President House and Senate, will agree to enroll onto the Public Health Care Plan exclusively.

I am a skeptic that would love to be wrong.

  • trey - 17 years ago

Obama can not use his slick talk anymore, the country is finally starting to realize he is full of crap.

  • Debbie - 17 years ago

After last night I am more convinced than ever that Obama's healthcare plan is not benifical to people like myself, who live paycheck to paycheck and have to watch every penny that is spent. The idea that he is proposing to force citizens to participate (pay for a plan, just as you do for car insurance ) is troublesome. Who is he to suggest that it is affordable? I can barely make ends meet, and any other required payments (such as auto insurance ) will not be affordable for me. I work for a small company and have been there for 4 years without a raise, but did talk my employers into providing me with health insurance (instead of a raise ).. Now, with the new proposed Obama plan, my company will opt out, and pay the fine.. I will be forced to purchase the universal health insurance, and still make the same income. So, as far as I am concerned, this plan will be a complete hardship on myself. If I didn't hear the words "requirement" to be under some plan, than I would be more open minded.

Last night Joe Wilson etched his political legacy into the wall of American history. He will forever be the poster child that symbolizes the new Republican Party.

LAST NIGHT it was not just Wilson it was also other GOP congressmen. Holding up signs, playing with their blackberries, sissing and making supid sounds. These are the future leaders of the GOP !

Wilson called Obama a liar but in fact he was lying once again. Illegal immigrants are not and never were covered in the bill. IT IS CLEARLY STATED.

We need to look at the big picture and remember that for most of us retirement is based on businesses making a profit. We invest in those businesses by buying stock either personally or through a retirement plan provided by our employer. If insurance companies, big oil companies and others do not make profits our retirements are gone. Last night I heard that big insurance companies are evil. Remember evil pays mine and your bills and the taxes necessary to keep our government funded. I have no trust in our current President and that is supported by the people he has placed in his support positions and his hidden relegious beliefs.

Jane is a joke. She ignores the other 90 percent of the media. And how they cater to liberals, and totally biased against conservatives. You would think they are paid by the Obama administration the way they gloss over and supports every he does! Talk about devisive and no respect----Look how the liberals and Demon-crats treated President Bush! Half the time the mainstream liberal news media referred to him as "Mr. Bush"--not President Bush! Then Jane has the nerve to criticize conservatives! She, and the whole Democratic party, is the real joke in America. That's the way of liberals, if you disagree with them you are " fortified by hate and divisiveness". If they disagree with you, "they are watching out for the American people". Liberals and Jane too are just a bunch of spoiled brats that can't tolerate people that have different opinions from theirs. Grow up Jane.

I think Rep. Joe Wilso (from South Carolina) did what the majority of Americans wanted to do -- call Obama out on his lies! I applaud the Congressman. If only all our representatives had the kutspa to do the same! I've tried to get on his website (joewilson.house.gov) to thank him but it is jammed up due to high traffic. Even though I don't live in South Carolina, I also intend to contribute to his campaign to ensure we don't lose someone who actually speaks for the people. I hope most of you do the same -- that'll show all those Republicans, Democrats & pundits who disparaged his remark to Obama that it's people like Rep. Wilson who "we, the people" really want working for us!

That was a wonderful 35 minute lie wasnt it? Nothing that man said was true except that we need to do tort reform and he didnt even say that he just said that we need to take a look at it. Jaz...Thanks for quoting the bible. My husband and I have spent 13 years sacraficing and struggling to give our daughter a private Christian education and in a few days she will be washing the feet of homeless living under bridges in Portland. She is also a nursing student and plans to dedicate her life to missions around the world. So I think I understand what the Bible says and how we should live like Christ. I just don't believe that it is the Governments role to dictate it. It is not a constitutional right or a God Given right to have health insurance just like it isn't a right to drive a car. These are all priviledges of our society. I lived with out insurance and I have lived with very little money and at times with no employment. I still have my home, still put her through school, have perfect credit. It is simply about making choices and sacrafices. People need to deciede what is most important to them. Our country is one of the most generous in the world and we are filled with philanthropy. If we allow the government to spread the wealth...we will become a nation of uniform mediocrity. No one will want to do more or give more because they are already forced to. Non-profits organizations that do good things for others will suffer greatly. Is this what we want to happen??

  • YoungAmerica - 17 years ago

First I would like to say that I think Obama is a good guy, I dont hate him. He comes from a different walk in life and I dont agree with everything he is about. This healthcare plan is so out of touch with America, but I believe his intentions are good. I have been listening closely to see if one side or the other makes complete sense to me. I have to say that after hearing the rebutle and reading the literature on their GOP website about healthcare, its not nearly as extreme and seems to head in the right direction. Why cant we try the obvious ways to improve healthcare first? Destroying the monopoly that the healthcare companies have by ridding of the inability to shop across state lines is a no-brainer. Lets see if the straight forward approach without fuzzy math and crazy wishes works first, if not, I guess we could try the extreme approach but in my opinion I think I would rather see it stay as it is than what it will be if this goes thru.

Obama did nothing but parrot the far left's defense for HR3200 that an overwhelming majority of concerned bi-partisan citizens expressed this summer during the town hall meetings. Obama may have bullied and silenced many of those sincere Americans, as they struggled to have their voices heard, amid heckles, boos and violence by ACORN and SEIU employees, but the facts remain the same... this bill stinks. It will bankrupt our country, destroy our medical system, and force rationing in the most morbidly inhumane ways... only a cruel inhuman communist non-American would champion this bill. Need I say more, Mr. Obama?
