The idea that Republicans are ignorant is so much garbage put out by Democrats! Statistically Republicans are better educated than Democrats! However, putting that aside, this is America, we have the right to say how we feel about politicians or their programs. Liberals are the most closed minded group of individuals around. Ultra Conservatives are no better! People should open their minds (and ears), this president is leading us down a very slippery slope. We need health care reform, but not Government Options or to have this particular bill forced down our throats!

Leonard, you are a total fool with your one world government conspiracy trash. You like to say silly things like that to make you look important. I guess you believe that Obama is actually taking orders from Bin Laden (or maybe directly from Satan). Perhaps he isn't really human. Maybe he is a evil robot beamed to Earth by aliens from another galaxy. He is out to destroy our country, perhaps even the world, or maybe the entire universe!! I bet he has an evil laugh he saves for himself when he sits alone is his room, gloating about how he has duped stupid humans like me.

Dear WHY: The Dem's controlled congress while "Bush" did all these dastardly deeds. Bush is not without faults, but don't stand the Dem's in a glass house either; they just might get cut.

Remember that Bush pushed congress to appropriate the 780 Billion in Sept? Well also recall he spent less than 300 Billion and said the next President would need to make strategic decisions for the rest. SO how does Obama now qualify to receive credit for the 780 Billion rescue relief?

As I recall he loaned the Auto about 50 Billion and then bankrupt them leaving the UAW without the golden health insurance. Could that be why we MUST have the public plan; to support the UAW for backing the bankruptcy?

While your supporting his decision making and planning for America's Health Care; understand he made 50 BILLION (I know I contributed TAXES toward the 50 Billion, can't speak for you) disappear faster than my wife can dispose of $50.

Communism? What has this country come to? George Bush was more of a dictator than Obama. Obama does not want to destroy the american way, he just wants to help "we the people" out. By 2016 40 percent of peoples incomes will be going towards health care. No one should be denied health care because they cannot afford it. Health care is a main problem of our deficit, so if we work on solving this problem, we can start paying back our debt! He is our president, you can disagree with him, but to defame him is another issue. I supported bush even though I was against some of his views. Make some educated statements instead of tabloid rumors.

    @Patricia

Rep Wilson is true patriot. Obama was the using the joint session before a national to spew more propaganda, half-truths and lies.

If you are so concerned about congressional decorum, perhaps you should review the many many disrespectful comments and outright lies made on the record, on the floor of congress by Pelosi, Reid, and others about Bush. These despicable so-called leaders set the gold standard for lack of respect and lack of decorum.

Of course if you are mindless left-wing liberal Obama drone, this will not make any sense to you.

Poll says if Pres. Obama changed your mind about healthcare; what a joke of a poll! a setup for sure; if I said answered no (which i did) it could also mean that i supported healtcare reform before and i support it now (so no he didn't change my mind but reinforce my belief). if i answer yes, I would be saying i supported no reform before.... damn if i do and damn if i don't :) .... can you say gotcha! well as I said before, we don't need enemies we got "FOX FRIENDS" :) .... or Republican sounding puppets! I just want some legistlation that address the health care issue (current healthcare system is in control of ALL of us); Obama doesn't fix all the problems but it is a start. Tell me, Republicans, what do you got? Because all I heard is "lies" or mis stated truths - because when i check into it, it doesn't pan out! Don't insult my intelligence! :) I CAN KEEP MY INSURANCE, I AM LUCKY TO BE INSURED! stop telling me i am going to loose it if i support healthcare reform for those WHO DON'T! It is just another option and something that will create more competition because current healthcare institutions have to drop cost to more realistic means. In the USA, someone should not die because they could not get care or because of loop holes or because insurance cap their expenses (like if they had a choice in the illness they are dealt with). Frustrating that human factor gets lost. And if gov bankrupts a few of these healtcare institutions (because they could not drop their bottom line) well, how is that a terrible thing? Obviously they are padding their bottom line now at your expsense. I am hoping for a healtcare reform that if anything else, STARTS to address this issue.

Wow! What has happened the past year to Fox News. As a extreme moderate I love to hear "good" debates and find the good points/bad points of both sides to make a decision. I also used to enjoy Fox with it's Conservative bent but it also used to be much less hostile and overtly one sided. Weird that at I now look at Bill O'Reilly as the only one who seems to try and discuss things without an agressive bias. I used to also enjoy Glenn Beck . . .now I will watch him every now and then to get a good laugh. Even Hannity seemed to be much more even keeled with his sidekick Combes (spelling?) who was definitely Robin in that relationship. Greta is awesome but more involved with legal type events. Why have these polls is what I wonder . . . . it seems the moderate man like myself is extinct when it comes to watching Fox. Oh well - here's hoping for less divisive times in the future.

  • Rick - 17 years ago

Liberalism is a mental disorder, its primary symptoms being a rush to throw out individual freedom and liberty and live under the iron boot of government. None of this is about healthcare, it is all about control of the individual. Liberals (progressives, socialists, fascists, communists - all shades of the same evil) do not compromise, and they cannot be dealt with rationally or logically. Their sole purpose is the total destruction of individualism, capitalism, freedom and liberty for the good of "The People". Translated, "The People" are the elitist tyrants that plan to confiscate all of your wealth and personal property rights and dictate every aspect of your life for you - now to include getting rid of you when your usefulness to "The People" has ended. We used to fight wars to defeat this kinf of evil, now we have allowed it to infiltrate the very core of our government. Shame on us for not paying more attention. Shame on them, the traitors (and there are many) that have slowly but methodically perpetrated this evil on us.
People like Jane are completely lost to reason and logic. I actually believe they are devoid of a soul and moral compass. It is almost too late for us to regain our country and restore it to what it was intended to be. If we are to survive, we must shine the harsh light of truth on the enemy, and identify the enemy for what and who they are and defeat them decisively else all is lost forever. We give this evil its power by failing to oppose it. If we don't stand up now and stop this abomination, we deserve what we get. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Freedom or tyranny? Its time to decide. Its almost past time to take action.

Somebody with more facts, help me out here - back when O was a Jr. Senator, the first bill he voted was an attemp to put regulations on spending etc. of , was it Fanny May or FMax.....I'll look it up, but maybe one of you starter ones can give me the feed....all I know, for sure, is that he voted against it. The Libs had control of the floor the last two years of Bush's second term..................there weren't ANY attempts to regulate spending or excess corruption of the Banks, the Car Industry, the housing industry......
correct me if I'm wrong - I'm not a Bush lover, I can assure you.....It seems all presidents have spiders concealing the bodies in their closets. ......but, it is time to stop blaming him for everything. This is obama's lair - now. It's his ball park..................going back to the past often brings up irregularities on all sides - best, unless you want to expose more on your side, you should stop placing blame on the other.

Why did Obama ignore WE THE PEOPLE?
How could he not even mention the PEOPLE's MOVEMENT?
He is going to walk smack into the wall of reality soon.
TOWN HALL meetings and TEA PARTIES are where the TRUTH can be heard
And Obama is so righteous he ignores WE THE PEOPLE completely!

  • Nostradamus - 17 years ago

I do not understand why people would be for insurance companies and against regulating them. They screw us all. Pre-existing conditions, BS dropping when you get sick, they force 80% of the personal bankruptcies in the US. I guess everyone writing in this forum thinks this is a good thing.

The President laid it out pretty simply. If small minded morons can't understand it, they will continue to get what they have coming to them. Just wait till you need an abstraction of your tooth.

Obama is a complete idiot. For someone who is so smart he really is making huge mistakes with dealing with American people. Over half the country oppose this bill. Drop it and start over. This time include the right in the process.
This system was not intended to exclude anyone, it's a process of debate.

Why does anyone have to loose their insurance for reform?

Shouldn't no one loose insurance while reforminbg?

Jane, get a life. Obama has not earned my respect yet. Even though I voted for him he has lost all credibility with me in the last few months. He said nothing new last night, but he said it very eloquently, and he especially did not explain how WE will pay for this program of his. If he is so sure there are savings to made in the current health care system then he should be spending time fixing those wasteful ways now. He doesn't new a new law to do that. He could be bankrolling this cash to help pay for any new health care system that might actually work for all of us.

  • Barb - 17 years ago

Sorry, after listening to Fox News, I would really have a hard time beleiving any poll that you put out. It is so one sided. You say, "We report and you decide", but what you report is your opinion, not what is real. I never use to pay much attention to politics, but I have quickly decided what news I want to watch. Un-bias

  • Jared - 17 years ago

I implore you viewers of Fox News and members of "Fox Nation" to broaden your horizons. Do not take everything Fox News says for its word. Find out for yourself what the independent media, liberal media, and foreign media has to say about the current health care plan. Utilize CNN, NPR, MSNBC, BBC, NYTimes, USA Today, Times Online, etc. to form an opinion. If necessary, read the source material: H.R. 3200 from the US Government Printing Office. Just do not base your opinion on one source alone, and a biased source at that.

Laziness is a breeding ground of ignorance.

I say impeach the republicans from congress after all look what they have done to this country for the last 8 years & the wars have cost all of us billions
Bush started TARP & Obama has to fix the republicans mess.
Pres Clinton left this country in the black after 8 years & it took Bush 2 years to spend all the surplus & get us into 2 wars.
Why don't some of you wake up & realize the Glen Becks of this country are radical idiots like rush Limbaugh.

  • merreck - 17 years ago

Go Obama! This was a great speech. Poor people are suffering in this country with no health care. This will make things fairer for everyone. Rich republicans are mad because they won't get to be first in line all the time any more. And for the next speech republicans should have to wear gags or just dont come at all.

  • Leonard Robert Terry - 17 years ago

He is lying because he is trying to destroy this country; that's his motivation. He was put here by the world elete to form a one world government but first he must destroy this nation. I will have license to kill people through witholding health care. You will see this economy go down the drain just as planned. Look at all the Communists at his side he is equipped and will destroy this entire country. Sit back and watch; no one will be able to stop this from happening since he is the most evil person to sit in the President's seat. God bless this Country but I fear it's too late....

Obama confirmed by disagreement with his ideals! He is full of hot air. If he can create such a sufficient healthcare system by cleaning up the crap then do it to Medicare now and show by example...... Maybe leading by example would be the "grown-up" action to take. Calling names and degrading your opponents is grade school antics and quite frankly make me giggle. AND WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD did Obama not even acknowledge WE THE PEOPLE who are shouting to be heard at TOWN HALL meetings across our GREAT NATION and the TEA PARTY crowds that are growing immensely! Talk to these people. WE are democrats, republicans, independents, white, black, hispanic ....... Obama IGNORED the PEOPLE's VOICE and for that I AM APPAULED!

Jane, Jane, you are just another misinformed robot from the otherside of the tracks. At least on this side of the tracks we are informed, stay informed and are disgusted with OB's speech, written by his lawyer writers. It did not address tort reform, because he is a lawyer as well as his writers. We need to reign in the lawyers who bring lawsuits at the drop of the hat. Clean up Medicare and Medicade if it is so corrupt, before you start on "Health Care Reform". If OB does not clean those programs up, the same crooks will run the new program an then just another program filled with "corruptness".

  • Jeff - 17 years ago

My ONLY question to those supporting this bill: "Will you be receiving the public health option without contribution or will you be receiving the public health care option and contributing?"

Regarding Illegal Immigrants - The "No Discrimination Clause in HR3200 will adequately cover the II's for full coverage heavily subsidized to completely free" - Technically Obama Lied.

Name a country outside of the US borders who provides emergency health care equal to the US that does NOT require proper paper work & method of payment before they simply "stop the bleeding."

I can tell you from EXPERIENCE that because of present goverm, emt intervention life is difficult, confusing and wasteful for taxpayers, healthcare providers and the insurance companies due to laws requiring so much documentation and redocumentation that information actually gets confused. The speech was a grave disappointment. The whole situation is grave when another opinion is locked out continually. Get rid of the Czars, get rid of this plan and START OVER. I know I have had it not due to talk radio or cable news or influential politicians but because of my past and present situation. I have had to fight for my parents feverently because of their age. I have also fought against waste and defended tax payers dollars . We can reform on our own by doing the right thing,

Joe Wilson should learn proper Congressional decorum. One just doesn't heckle the President when he is addressing Congress. We are better than that. Yes, the President lied, in numerous instances, but Wilson should have saved his comments for the news cameras later. It would have been the polite thing to do.

Of course, the polite thing for President Obama to do would have been to accept Wilson's apology personally, which he refused to do. That small gesture would have shown class on Obama's part, which woefully he has demonstrated time and again, that he simply doesn't have. That's the one thing they don't teach when coming through the School of Chicago Politics.

  • Elizabeth Jo Arnold - 17 years ago

You don't have to be a 'repub' to disagree with the President and his proposal.
Please answer our questions before demanding our support. Show us you can clean up Medicare, Medicaid and Vets Admin. Regarding: BRAD COOK!

You are a bigot! I cannot believe you said that, you arrogant, uneducated little boy. Grow up and realize how ignorant you are!

  • Jaz - 17 years ago

Dear people who say Obama is lying,

I will let you speculate on why Obama would lie. In order for him to want to lie there should be something in it from him right? Well, I will give you the task of figuring out what is in it for him when he is lying.

    Lets see...

Money is probably the best motivator for anyone, so would he get money out of anyone for pushing through this bill? Hmm, the only ones that seem to benefit from this bill seem to be the American people... so I don't think so.

How about his promise to provide a health care reform... Well, it would be much easier if he would drop the public option to push it through and thus delivering on his promise. So thats not it.

Is it because he wants to be elected for a second term? Well, I don't think pushing this bill through would make him very popular if it wouldn't actually work. So my logic would say, unless it works, it wouldn't make sense for him to do so. That would be a bad move.

So he has no motivation at all to lie? OMG!

    MAYBE HE'S TELLING THE TRUTH!

  • Leonard Robert Terry - 17 years ago

I'm moving to So Carolina. They have public servants that tell the truth. Actually I've never heard the point of this debate spoken. Here's the real point:

Pass anything you feel is approprate as long as all and I mean all Americans including the elete inside the Washington Beltway are included. If the elete want to kill old Americans I have no problem with that as long as the elete stand in line first. How DARE they sit in their seats dressed to kill with a fake smile on their face passing laws that they are not subject to.

If they were included themselves I'm sure the bill would be very small and very fair. Just give us the same health care they have and there will be no resistance from anyone the problem is it would bankrupt the country!

  • em Ohio - 17 years ago

You Fox haters just need to stay off Fox.....you've made the effort to come on board, but if you weren't looking to insult and hate, you'd just stay with your own kind. I'd like to think you might learn something and change your attitude, but if you can't, just stay away and let us be. Most of us, whether conservs or libs, or independants, have discovered that THIS is where we can find the truth and get a little peace from your hateful and unpatriotic attitudes.
We have alot of peace of mind because we love the United States of America for what it is, what it was, and what it needs to maintain as a country.....there are millions who came here for the same reason - you want to destroy what is loved, respected and tho, certainly not perfect, gives us peace. WE DO NOT WANT THIS TAKEN FROM US - you all seem to hate us so much that the only peace you have is getting your way in hurting US.......If you don't like this country, there are plenty of places you could go. We, on the other hand, love our country and are trying to retain its' values and correct its' problems, one by one. We are not racists, radicals, or ignorant - we care, deeply and
honestly and want no more than to keep the freedoms MOST ALL OF YOU HAVE too. You've taken alot of effort to sit and read the question, comments and those of each of us who get alot from each other's love for our country. Stay away - take your hate somewhere else. THIS IS NOT ABOUT HATE............you don't fit in.

and replace it with a pis poor Government plan , and you ask him why
he is doing this and he will say so the GOVERNMENT does not go broke????
News flash the Government is already broke, get a brain Mr. Obama the straw man.

We need Elected Government Servants that will tell the truth and do what is good for the Nation not lies and destroying this nation so they can turn it into a socialist dictatorship like Mr. Obama and his Chicago buds what too.

My husband had open heart 7 yrs ago and had to his difibulator replaced in Aug at the cost of $51.000 for being in the hospital for 7 hours as out patient. Medicare paid for that along with our suppliment ins. Is there waste in that $51.000 YOU BET there was. We need reform. My husbands open heart cost $129.000 wiping our any saving we had & maxed credit cards to survive.
We own a small business in Michigan & with the cost of everything insurance is out of the question for me at 62. Our President is doing his best ot to cover citizens like me who have worked since I was 15 years old & can't afford insurance. Its nice some can afford insurance but don't punish those of us who can't. We lost everything but our home after that open heart surgery.

Same Old Song - Good Speech writer, Teleprompter - and no particulars to show how a National Health Plan would be able to be successful. No details on how it will be paid for, no details on what the seniors will give up under Medicare to pay for it an of course he still insist on the Public Option. He has to make sure Government is going to be involved in our Health Care and be a major player in many aspects of our lives. The only thing that has become transparent in this Administration is the man calling himself OBAMA.

Do the Republicans agree that it is the moral character, and a civilized duty of a country to provide health care to all people, especially to the needy?
If they say yes, then the President is right. If they do not agree, then they are not good human beings.

  • Lee Quinn - 17 years ago

Why are we not impeaching Obama? It has been brought to light the type of people he surrounds himself with. It's very clear to me that what Obama wants to do is turn this into a country that is dectated to and crown himself dectator. Obama and congress are going to try to shove everthing he wants down our throats. I dont want the goverment in my healthcare. I don't wnat them in our schools either. The speech last night didn't change my mind. It's all the same, he's just using different wording. Nancy Pelosi needs to be cast out also. That woman was like a JACK-IN-THE-BOX, up, down, up, down, up, down.

Why is it that every president before Obama only needed 12-13 Czars and he has to have at last count 30? Why is it that every first lady before Michelle got by with 2-3 assistants but she has to have 118 at a whopping 1.5 million plus?

Now we have acorn caught on tape refusing to comment about this video that has been brought to light! I can tell you what they are going to say. That is if they own up to what we are seeing. They will tell us that this is an isolated event and that event resulted in all the poeple involved were fired. Pleaaaaase!

I'm tired of all the excuses and appologies that are coming out Obama and Congress. This is "We the Peoples" country and if we as Glenn Beck says "don't wake up" well......not matter what race you are or your political veiws are......we will loose out rights and our country.

I have 2 brothers and a nephew over in Iraq and Afganastan. What Obama and Congress wants is for everyone who fought wars in the past.....who came back to us injured or those that don't come back at all......those who are fighting now.....want that all to be in vain.

THIS IS THE SEASON FOR OBAMAS IMPEACHMENT AND PINK SLIPS TO BE HANDED TO NANCY PELOSI AND OTHERS IN CONGRESS.

People, do you not realize that this is a dominately conservative news station? So of course it is going to be dominately no. All I can say is read the proposed plan, check out other news stations: NPR, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, the NY Times, you get the idea. Get educated about it before you bash it. Don't just listen to one side! I am an independent due to this very reason. All it is, is a bunch of hooplah because the interest groups and the big businesses are trying to control the outcome of this "health care reform". Please get educated about it, I am begging you!

  • Darlene - 17 years ago

As a mother of a pre-nursing student his speech didn't change my mind nor my daughters. We need reform but this is not right. I do not think the government should dictate manditory coverage. Nor meddle in my finances to see if I can afford coverage. My family was w/o coverage for approx. 2 years we tried to purchase coverage but I was denied for pre-existing condition that has never caused any health problems. In Oregon we have an insurance pool much like what the President wants to set up nationally. We turned to this source and found that to cover myself alone was going to cost $650.00 a month. This was simply unaffordable. I was quoted nearly $900.00 a month for my family of 3. At the time our income was $2100.00 a month and the majority was from unemployment ( the reason for the loss of coverage to begin with). It will only work if state lines are dropped and tort reform is in place. Oh, I forgot Obama is a lawyer. Guess that won't happen. To place the laws on pre-existing, out-of-pocket etc.. will simply drive premiums higher. I believe this is simply a backdoor attempt to put a single payer government system in place. I do not believe that it will make it more competitive but it will actually reduce the options that people have. Employers (especially small business) will stop offering coverage and simply let employees turn to the marketplace for coverage and many people will not be able to afford coverage in the pool so they will have to utilize the public option because it will be AGAINST THE LAW to not have insurance. I do believe that there are smarter ways of reforming our system and they should work harder to achieve this. I am angered by the President saying it will happen this year. What is the hurry!!! We haven't had reform in decades, he said so himself. If it is so important to him than he should want to get it right. If my elected ones vote yes on this they will loose my vote and I will work very hard to block there re-election. It is simple ... SLOW DOWN and start listening to the people who pay your salaries.

WHEN will he ever wake up to the fact that he was elected to serve US, the American citizens he seems to dislike to much. If you're in MX and have a medical emergency, THEY don't pay for your treatment, YOU DO, and in CASH! But you can bet, we'll wind up payiing for illegals no matter what he said.

I am thankful that a Rep. From South Carolina had the nerve to say what he thought to the President. Dems are so quick to speak out against Rep., this is the first time President Obama has really felt the heat turn up on him. The speech was the same old thing..... Obama trying to express his views by lies.

All I heard was a bunch of back tracking, sugar coating and trying to side step around the concerns that Americans have with all of this. All I heard was Obama TRYING to calm the storm of all the outspoken people who are against all of this because they know it can't possibly work the way he says it will and and then more of him trying to make Americans believe that everything will be ok because he would take care of it all because it's his watch. Whoopdy Doo, It was all word games, that's all I heard, WORDS and way too many of them at that!!! I heard no real plan of action or even an outline on how they would actually attempt a plan of action, I heard no plan on how this was all going to actually be paid for, all I heard was what he's been saying for months now, JUST WORDS!! Stop with all the words and SHOW ME HOW THIS IS ACTUALLY GOING TO WORK. There were no real answers during this exremely lengthy speech, just more sugar coating, repeated words and phrases, and more promises that he can't deliver, over and over and over, but still nothing concrete enough to make me agree with any of it. It really doesn't matter what he actually said, he always says one thing and then does another anyway, so in my opinion, the chances of anyone with some common sense and logic believing all of this bunk is slim to none. If it sounds too good to be true.... it usually is!!

    SSDD.
    No changes and nothing new.
    Trot reform?
Why hasn't "waste and fraud" been addressed in the past? Why only now?
Competition? Allow companies to sell policies across state lines.
    Savings in Medicare? Reduce benefits?
Let's start from scratch and have some imput from both parties and the taxpayers.
These IDIOTS can't seem to get it right. We are drowning in RED ink yet they continue to spend.
    Balance the budget STUPID.
Foreign aid - stop sending my tax dollars abroad. That will give you some SAVINGS.

I wonder how many of the people complaining, or that are against this reform, have taken the time to actually READ what's being proposed. Instead of sitting around like ignorant drones taking others words, stop being lazy, READ FOR YOURSELF, and form you OWN opinions!! It continues to amaze me and sadden me how politically uneducated most people in our country are.

  • Darren - 17 years ago

In response to Jane, while most liberals say that Republicans are divided you claim that this poll shows how we are mindless robots walking in lockstep. Which is it? About your comment on not respecting the presidency....what about 2005 when the whole of the Democratic minority in congress booed and hissed as the president discussed Social Security Reform? Is that respect?
There is, however, one thing that we do agree on, I too hope that the terrorists were not watching as our president, once again, discussed what he considers to be a waste of money...the wars in Iraq and Afganisgtan. If our freedom is not secure, the best medical treatment and accessibility is worthless.

  • Marian, Colorado - 17 years ago

Obama as usual, is not being honest with the american people. I saw him today giving a speech to the Nurses Association. Everyone knows how valuable nurses are, but why not praise our doctors. Our doctors have been receiving inadequate Medicare reimbursement from the governmentfor years; they have to wait months to be paid; have to jump through hoops with all the administrative paperwork needed to recive payment and when they hire additional help they are criticized. And let's not forget the lawyers who are always waiting to help people sue. Doctor's need to protect their own liability, if they don't take that extra test. Their insurance liability costs are astronomical. I don't know how they stay in businss. Obama barely touched the issue of Tort reform. I don't believe he is serious about reining in the
lawyers. I also don't believe he is not going to cut Medicare reimbursement.
I am a senior and see how little my dotors are being reimbursed and he wants to take more from them. Where is he getting his information from?
I ddn't vote for Obama, but was willing to give him a chance. My initial beliefs were true. He is trying to bring America down. He doesn't care about
America. His actions prove this. I wasn't surprised by his speech last night.
He is a good saleman (to those who are gulible), but his words are empty. He is not telling America the truth. Hopefully, America will wake up in 2010 and vote out the congress and senate members who are helping Obama destroy our country. Hoefully, we will elect a new president in 2012, who we can respect, who will be honorable and who will raise America up to the high standards that exemplify America.

  • Grandma from Kansas - 17 years ago

The thing I hated about the speech was that he never specifically said how it was going to be paid for. When the banks and car companies were bailed out, did we profit from it? Did GM and Chrysler give each one of us a new car, because our tax dollars saved them? I don't remember that happening.

This President is scary. Don't get me wrong, I support the Office, just not the man. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that this is not a committee organizers job that he has taken on, but the Presidency.

  • Dr. Hal Smith - 17 years ago

Jane-you are a slime-bitch radical-Obama is an "empty suit" who can only point his finger at his opponents-he can't justify his positions ,clarify his policies or explain his plan without twisting the facts ( i.e. lying ). What a jerk !!!

  • dogface - 17 years ago

I forgot one fact that the President continues to distort.
He constantly states the Republicans are to blame for the lack of support when this could be passed by the Democrats with no Republican votes what-so-ever. That's true in both houses too. It's the Democrats themselves that are holding up this legislation, not the Republicans.
Adding to that fact is the constant rhetoric that he wants a bi-partisan bill, but again, the facts dispute this. It is a fact that the Republicans are being shut out of the debates and not allowed to participate in the process.

  • JoAnn - 17 years ago

Obama, repeats over and over, the same stories, Hi is a liar, he is manipulating. He can give acorn 8 billion, and take 5 billion away from Senior citizens. I want to know why he does not address fraud with medicaid, we support illegitimate kids every year, we pay for the births, we pay for the food stamps. What is he going to take from that government run program, or does he stay away from the subject because of his voters use most of that give away!

  • Seawolf - 17 years ago

Obama isn't a great speaker, he is a great reader of speeches written by others...without the teleprompter, he's a bumbling idiot. he is no leader, he is a puppet of the far left.

Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany once said "let the people think they are invested in their gov't, it keeps them docile". Dems believe that and Social Security was the beginning.

Obama and the dems are running roughshod over us all in order to get as many people dependant on gov't as possible, they therefore get a one party rule with them in charge.

Will anyone dependant on a gov't check vote to cut gov't and their own pay?
Of course not, a child can see through this, yet supposedly intelligent liberals will vote for the destruction of their own nation.

Obama managed to cobble together enough liberals, perverts and assorted bottom feeders from the recipient class to get elected and now we as a nation are in deep trouble.

McCain may have had his faults, we all do, but no-one could doubt his patriotism, his resume of service to this nation or his guts.....electing this communist fool in a time of war, shows just how low this nation has sunk because of liberals.

  • Em Ohio - 17 years ago

If I didn't read and study politics, I suppose I might have gotten at least that this is a man who knows how to play a crowd. I do do read and study politics, however, and I found absolutely no change whatsoever in this health care plan; it was one painted lie after another. There's alot to being intelligent, but then, there's much to being intelligent enough to speak, while being the epidemy of naivity on both sides: One the recipient who lives in a a-la-de-da world and believes everythink they hear and the other side who thinks there's no one out there who knows more than a first grade level of arithmetic or logic. This bill has to pass for the regime to get full control of the government. Health care means nothing. If it did, they would be regulating instead of trying to reform EVERYTHING/ WE HAVE A GOOD system but it is corrupt just like the government. Why would anyone think the government could run this HUGE system when they can't even run the post office...........
And just what part of medicare/medicaid is going to produce 600 billion dollars?!?!?!?!? Maybe they could regulate care of the elderly, oopps, I wasn't thinking. Rationing just won't happen.....well, isn't that what he said?
I'm so sick of this whole issue - it's just lies............we know what the bottom line of the plan is. Who is fooling who?!???? Any argument pro change is nothing but the same old thing over and over. Government control is the only issue.

Any poll on Fox is a joke. Robots walking in lockstep. Repubs piling on with glee, fortified by hate and divisiveness. No respect for the Presidency. I hope the terrorists aren't watching, I'm sure they feel it would be much easier to attack a divided country. Repubs are the most non-patriotic members of our society.

____ Nicely spoken..(haha)..Jane. Your comment definitely doesn't divide us.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." How do you feel about the quote from Theodore Roosevelt?

  • Marc - 17 years ago

Jane, You hope the terrorists aren't watching? Get real and wake up. Terrorists are LOL at the USA because they have Obama just where they want him. Here is our President apologizing, bowing, shaking hands, with terrorist state all over the place in hopes that being “nice” to the bully and he will leave you alone. It is more like in the wild where weakness is eating by the predators. As far as the health care thing goes Obama is a SHAM, He wants a single payer government run health care system. He has stated that clearly he also said we can’t do it right away and that he will get it done a lil bit a t a time and “public option” is the first step. Why the big rush. The longer he waits the more people will realize that it is all about him making his “deadlines” and changing this country. He said it clearly wants to “fundamentally change” the USA. He is A LIAR! And did the terrorist watch? I am sure the Czars were tuned in.

It's the same old, same old. He's seen that America rejects what he wants to do; this country isn't ready for socialism. So he has only repackaged the same thing in more palatable language. He has an agenda and we'd all better wake up. This is NOT about listening because the President and members of Congress are outright lying. Don't you get it? They tell you what they think you want to hear. They want to accomplish their goals ~ regardless!

Obama mis-lead the American people to get elected, and he's mis-leading us now on Health Care Reform.

  • Brad - 17 years ago

This is a very silly poll. It does not differentiate between people who already were for the "plan" and those who were already against it. So a No vote is totally meaningless and which way did the yes votes go? That would be a significant number. Who thinks up these things? Oh yeah... The network of Beck, O'really (sic), and Hannity. Bet they spin these results to show that O'Bama is extremely unpopular and should resign for the good of the country!

What is an affordable insurance premium $10, !00, 500, 1000 per month. Family or single plans. How will the premiums be paid or collected with the public option. Will there be coverage if in arrears in payment? When will it be cancelled for nonpayment? Then what happens to these individual who just won't pay the premiums? Will care be denied if no insurance? WILL THOSE WHO FOR RELIGIOUS REASONS DO NOT USE HEALTHCARE BE FORCED TO PAY ANYWAY? How do you inforce this for those who do not get pay checks where the deduction can be easily made? These are some of the problems with car insurance requirements where they get the insurance to get the tags then don't pay the premiums.
Illegial Immigrants will recieve amnesty before this is in play that is how they will get coverage in four years.

  • Susan Kennedy - 17 years ago

Three issues would go FAR to fix our broken healthcare system:

    1. Tort reform
    2. Remove availability to illegal aliens
    3. Clean up fraud and waste

NOW you have "build on what works and fix what doesn't, rather than try to build an entirely new system from scratch."

  • dogface - 17 years ago

Jane is a perfect example of divisiveness. She has nothing to do but criticize those who disagree with her point of view. Attack the speaker, not the facts.
About Obama's speech, nothing new, loads of vague “indisputable facts" and too much "it has to be done now!".
I agree something needs to be done but not something as close to a complete overhaul that's being proposed. One step at a time, see what works and move on. It's a proven fact that government running business is always a failure in huge monetary cost overruns. There is no way this isn’t going to cost the taxpayers, all 47% of Americans that actually pay taxes, huge amounts of money in the long run. This claim alone is a scam of biblical proportions.
This is just another "We’re from the government and are here to help you" lie.

Everyone says what a great speaker. He's not an orator, he's a great reader of someone's writings. He doesn't believe the "stuff" he's trying to "sell" us the public. Last night's "talk" was nothing new. He is lying to us. He hasn't a plan, just what some of the Congress has written, same old stuff. He and Congress are not listening to us, look at several polls, they all disagree with his so called plan. I don't trust any of them. There is too much going on behind the public. They are not honest. As far as I'm concerned we should vote them all out of office at the next election, that's the only way we are going to get their attention to pay attention to what the public desires, after all we are suppose to be a Republic, when the Dems were in the minority they wanted a Republicl, but now that they're in power, they believe majority rules and they'll write their own laws. Let's take back America at the next election!

  • Amanda - 17 years ago

This poll is rediculous and the nonsense comments. Comments comming from commercials that were set out to destroy any inkling of a health care reform. Never have I ever seen so much ignorance in my life. This news station can not even get the countries correct. May I need to say "Egypt" This news station does not even know where Egypt is located on a map. How can one trust a station that doesn't know its geopolitics!?!!? Read the speech for the words! I think he mastered it quite well. He talked to all sides of the spectrum. He wants the nonsense to stop and to come to a solution. He is open to ideas and has asked over and over again for bipartisan work. However, republicans throw out rediculous and off the wall commercials and all it is doing is disrupting the proces oh and scaring the public. This is a MORAL issue and is violence in itself. Before Obamas plan, Government has been paying for 65 percent of the United States citizens health care. All he is asking is that we come to a consensus on how to include the other 35 percent. Get over this veil of ignorance and see that there are people in the country suffering! It doesn't matter if they are republican, democrat, or independent! We are talking about peoples lives and the right to health care. I will be shopping for health care here soon, and personally I am up for health care reform because by 2016 I will be putting 40 percent of my income towards health care, which is sad. Due to the fact that this will cost less than the Iraq war and pay itself back in the near future. COME ON PEOPLE TEAR DOWN THAT VEIL OF IGNORANCE AND THINK ABOUT OTHERS FOR A CHANGE! PS on the note of his speech and everyone saying that he is only saying it to get peoples vote. You can tell the change of tone in his voice and tell how much he cares about this issue! Watch it again with an open mind and maybe you will see it the way he intended for you to see it!

His speach, didn't change my mind. It was and still is a train wreck. God help us, if this group stays in power. The people need to stand up and send these bums packing next year, before it's to late. I am a moderate and voted for John Mcain, because he was the lesser of two evils. With all the spending and special interests " PROGRESSIVES " advising the president, this country will be bankrupt and forever changed, very soon. This nonsense, has to stop. I love my country and refuse to appologize for it. For godsakes people, stand up before it's to late.

No one seems to be pointing out the major problem with this poll, which is that it doesn't tell anyone anything. It simply asks if the speech "changed you mind about health care," which means that most of Fox's conservative viewers/readers were unlikely to change their minds based on anything the president said, and the same goes for the left, who had already decided to follow Obama anywhere chanting YES WE CAN till their blue in the face. It's obvious that less than 1% of the people participating in this poll actually went into the speech with an open mind about the policy, the bill, the president or how they personally felt about this issue. Basically what I'm saying is that EVERYONE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE need to LISTEN and READ information from BOTH SIDES, don't dismiss people as LIARS and FRAUDS because you don't happen to agree. Do you hear that LEFTY? I'm talking to you too RIGHTY! A debate is an exchange of ideas not a shouting match. We as a country stand on mostly common ground, try and find some before you start treating each other like enemies.

I have heard Dem's sniping all morning about the lask of the Republicians lack of patriotism from not agreeing with the President. Where was the Dem's partriotism when Pres Bush was being called Hitler, and ridiculed for everything he did. Plus Pres. O. constantly points out the debt he inherited from Pres Bush. What about the Stimumus package, the bail-out of the Auto Industries. He frequently mentions how beneficial they were to the country. I join the American Public in stating they well may bring about the bankruptcy of our Nation. Our grandchildren will be paying back the give-away packkages, plus bonuses Obama us resoibsubke for. Plus, Laura Bush was gracious to support his talk to the schoolchildren. He never acknowledged her act. No, President Obama will never convince me that his type of health care report will be beneficial to the Country. Even in the Cash for Clunkers, they could not do it right. They should have specified buy Americian Cars.

Fair and balanced? Yeah, right. I was a republican all of my life until I saw a bunch of whinning, poor losers in the last election. Now I see a bunch of racist idiots who hang on Fox News every word. I haven't seen one thing on Fox News that has been fair and balanced and not full of right wing guidance. The republicans had the past eight years to get things taken care of and sat doing nothing. The result was a collapse of our economy, jobs going overseas, the financial system taking advantage of the trust of the American people and the world, and a war in Iraq over "weapons of mass destruction." Now we have someone who is putting back the pieces and all the republicans and Fox News can do is do everything they can to make the President of the United States look bad and stop the recovery efforts. In my opinion you are a bunch of traitors to this country and Fox News is nothing more than a televised National Enquire. I am so ashamed to say that I was once a republican let alone say that I had been for 35 years.

When Medicare Part D was introduced, my insurer said stay away from it, in less than a year, my prescription coverage was dumped and I had to sign up for Medicare Part D immediately! If you think you will be able to keep your company coverage, think again. I worked 22 years at a wage lower than industry average so that I would have coverage, only to have it chipped away at every opportunity. Be very careful what you wish for, if this bill passes, number 1, we really don't know what it will actually cover and number 2 we will be stuck with it!

  • Mark Rowe - 17 years ago

The President stated that he would cut some Five Hundred Billion from Medicare/Medicaid; this in itself is bound to hurt Millions at least. And, that this would in part pay for a new health care system and he promised it would not cause tax increases. Well, l would like to hear where the rest of the funds to pay for the new health care system would come from!?

  • Bob Baum - 17 years ago

Since Medicare has issues with fraud and mismanagement; why isn't that being fixed NOW, ALREADY, LONG BEFORE THIS? Why is Medicare in trouble?

The simple fix would be to give every "Citizen of the United States the same health care that President Obama and his family along with the rest of Congress now have!

Unemployment is too high, we are in two wars that we know about, have we fixed New Orleans and the surrounding areas from Katrina, what about those dikes and another hurricane, Social Security has been misused and is in a mess..................PLEASE tell me why we should not fix the mess we are in before trying to fix something that is, at least, basically working!?!?!? We all want better and more............but who is going to pay for it and how!

This Government couldn't properly distribute 3 billion dollars for clunkers and they one to take over 1/6th of our economy directly!?!?!?!?

Doesn't this President and Congress have enough on their plate that really needs fixing right now, yesterday!?!?!?!?!? I'm not afraid of the future but I don't want the shape of the future the President and Congress wants us to have either!

We've had generations to fix Social Security and it ain't happening......Someone wake up!!!!!!!!!!

No wonder Americans are getting more and more angry!!!!

The question was poorly worded... No Barack did not change my mind because I had agreed with him from the very start. Therefore the polling results are a very poor indicator of how Americans voted, based on how the question was asked. My wife is a Dentist and I am a Nuclear Health Physicists and we operate our own business. We offer health insurance through her office but no one accepts it because it is ridiculously too high. Our employees take coverage through their spouses who work for much larger companies due to our providers high costs. We pay $987.00/mth and very seldom see the doctor with a $2500.00 deductible...Tell me if that makes sense.........

It's interesting to see how fired up Conservatives get about healthcare, but don't get fired up with losing over 4,000 American lives and trillions of dolalrs spent in Iraq. Not to say there weren't any benefits derived from the war, but ultimately, it was not a war we had to wage. Anyway, the fundamental goals that President Obama laid out in his speech are things most of us I would hope can agree with. One of the President's responsiblities is to set the political agenda that Congress historically follows, because after all, the President is supposed to identify those issues that matter most to the nation (obviously lawmakers will set their own agenda to ensure their constituents are happy, but don't always set an agenda that improves the well-being on folks in the rest of the country). Writing every detail of the law is not one of the President's responsibilities...that's for the lawmakers in Congress to do. Anyone who thinks that the President was too eloquent last night and it only represented fluff clearly was hearing, but was not listening. After reading most of the comments, it seems reasonable to assume that most of you want to keep the status quo. I don't, and I'm in the services so my family and I are covered. However, I've seen healthcare insurance in action (and often times, inaction) and it's a broken system. It's the lawmakers' responsiblity to fix this system, not the President's. He is only setting the agenda and what he believes are the fundamental goals when aiming to fix our healthcare system. I invite anyone who thought Obama's speech was a joke to first, list out how much you pay for your family's healthcare insurance a year, second, what portion of your (and maybe your spouse's) annual income goes to healthcare costs, and third, indicate whether or not you're happy with your coverage. I'll go first...1) 0, 2) 0, 3) Yes. In addition, I believe the bill or perhaps a subsequent but related bill should address ways to implement preventative measures that Americans can take advantage of to decrease the dependence on healthcare. For example, simply put, Americans are too fat. As a result, a plethora of illnesses result because of obesity and general unhealthy living. Maybe implement tax breaks for companies that produce foods deemed by experts as "healthy" so that such food is more affordable for everyone. Also, maybe reward those schools that better track the health of its students and can show improvement in students' health and high scores for physical fitness standards? Just some suggestions.
