Five things are needed for Health Care Reform
1. Tort reform, at a minimum, if a case is dismissed or found in favor of the physician, the plantiff is required to pay the physician's legal fee's.
2. Income tax deduction for full cost of health insurance and all medical bills.
3. Require all Health Insurance companies to provide coverage in a minimum of 10 states. Drop all restrictions of not crossing state lines. Just like auto insurance companies.
4. Vote the democrates out of office. Get fresh blood in congress.
5. Get rid of lobbist.

The President suggests "paying more for nursing professors so they can train more nurses..." yet right now the reimbursement for performing cases while training Nurse Anesthesia students has been further reduced by Medicare. (You would now make more if you did the case on your own and skipped the training altogether...)
BC/BS announced that a 20% reimubursement decrease is coming for physicians. That will be passed along to nurses who work with these physicians driving salaries down even further.
Want to really reduce your health care costs? Get Torte reform out front and that will help reduce the malpractice insurance costs and get the lawyers out of the picture.

We do no believe Obama! ! ! Why? The reason is the house bill HR-3200. Pelosi is going to have a vote on that "Bill". And that Bill is a government takeover. I will be happy to dump everyone of my 123 employees onto the government plan because 8% of my payroll is less, and I will layoff all employees required to still make a small profit. Obama's speech didn't change my mind because I already supported what he proposed.
Not only did it not change my mind, but it made me mad. He's threatening people who express their dissent? Going to give everyone outstanding care, ensure that no one is ever denied care, and cover all pre-existing conditions for all people for the duration of their lives . . . for free? By not adding "one dime" to the deficit. He's out of his mind.
Also, I just caught the latest speech about healthcare on Fox. To nurses this time. He said that the number of insured, according to just-released census data, has increased since last year.
But he failed to note that the number of insured has INCREASED from 253.4 million in 2007 to 255.1 million in 2008. MORE people, then, are covered than ever before, but we need to throw our entire system out? That's ridiculout. Gee, my toilet is clogged, think I'll buy a new house.

My mind has not been changed by the President's speech last night or this morning to the ANA. The ANA represents only a VERY SMALL number of nurses. I have been a nurse for 35 years and agree that the healthcare system needs to be fixed but at what cost and who will pay for it? This should not be rushed through. Whenever government gets involved, care should always be taken. One glaring example is the way the bailouts were handled.

For a president who has built a reputation of being able to bring groups together I was very dissapointed in his approach used in last nights speech. He seemed agitated and at times he used threats to get his points across (i.e., We will call you out!). Once again he uses a tired approach of "the sky will fall if you don't do this" (i.e., companies will shut down, people will lose their job, their insurance and will die). The speech was long on platitudes and short of details another hallmark of Obama. He made it clear that he will push for a public option and play lip service to Tort reform. Not much new in that speech.

Actually, the bill is not like the Canadian, English or any other European country. It is a bill which adopted the working systems from other countries and adapted to what would work in the US. Canadian health care IS government run, the US health care will not be.
The only thing the US government will do is set new rules which for instance, will not allow people to be dropped or rejected for pre-existing conditions.
I'm glad we have some sort of conversation going on. You might have read the bill but I don't think you understand the health care system in other countries. They do not compare to the proposed US system. You will find some likeness, but like I said, they adopted and adapted.
I lived in a European country and know it's system. It works there but wouldn't work in it's current form in the US. Thats why the US is not adopting the same exact systems but adapting them to US circumstances.
I know my promise is not worth much to anyone here, but I can guarantee that after the dust of this entire health care battle settles and the bill has been approved, health care will be available for almost every American, government health care cost per capita will lower and you, your children and everyone will be able to fight illnesses like cancer before they get out of control. How beneficial would it be to you or your family to be able to afford going to the doctor to do regular check ups and catching that cancer in it's first fase?

I'm an oncology nurse. I've had experience with Medicare refusing to give my patient one portion of his life live extending chemo because of it's price tag. He was in Skilled care and they refused to allow him to have the drug AND would not allow his family to self pay. That is the fine example of what will be coming our way if One Big A__ Mistake America (OBAMA) has his way with our health care system. I am a Registered Nurse and I want nothing to do with this plan!!!

HR3200 leaves too many things out which makes it difficult for me to support it. How do you insure that illegals will not be covered but not include e-verify and other enforcement checks into the bill? How do you cover millions more at no extra cost? How do you rob money from Medicare and not reduce services as a consequnce? After taking money from Medicare, where does the rest of it come from? Where are the extra medical professionals going to come from? Why can't fix the problems in smaller bills? Why do we have to do another monster bill that makes it difficult to read much less understand? How much do the unions profit from this Bill? Will it be easier for the SEIU to unionize using HR3200 as their mandate? Does the AMA and the Nursing Association speak for all doctors and nurses?
Too many unanswered questions.
There are no answers forthcoming, only more double speak. I don't trust governenment to actually deliver what they promise. Bait and switch.

It is a shame that Rep Wilson shouted out loudly and rudely what many of us were thinking and shouting at our televisions. He has given the non-news media something to focus on other than the facts (not that fact finding and fair reporting has been a strong suit for the past couple of years). The President waxes poetically with lofty rhetoric about reaching across the aisle and getting bipartisan support. Good idea! Later, he RAILS his critics and brings up Bush and the Iraq war.......during a speech on HEALTHCARE. A leader leads. A leader does not continue to bash the prior administration in order to score political points. He throws his opposition one little bone about doing some "trials" in some states with tort reform and that is his bipartisan effort? Bush wanted to do this and the Dems blocked it. He still never told us how he will pay for all this, especially with the economy tanked and HIS deficit already skyrocketing. Cut cost in Medicare and Medicaid? I say, do it FIRST and MAYBE I would believe it! And then the last, sickening tug at the heartstrings Ted Kennedy re-eulogy was just about as low as it gets. Delivery as usual great he gets a B+ but content a C- at best.

I'm sorry but President Obama's speech just didn't cut it last night. He left way too many details out and seemed mostly intent on rebutting talking points of the "opposition". I find myself as an independent voter, completely insulted that he and the Dems continue to treat all Americans as though we are stupid and a bunch of sheep being led by Repubs to blindly bleet our protests in opposition to HR 3200. They need to start OVER! Break it down and go with what most American citizens agree with
Tort reform, competition across state lines, a few new regs on insurance and drug companies (Oh he left that one out! How about us not subsidizing the world's meds?), and we need the government to start practicing what they preach before they dismantle our health care system. Alcee Hastings field questions at a Town Hall meeting I attended ... I'm of the belief people will disagree with me , never do I believe those same people are dishonorable in what motivates them ... Our president and Rep Hastings have both proven to me, no matter how they sugar coat their words, they both believe I don't have a right to disagree with them...... I pray their progressive mantra continues right through the elections of 2012... so Americans that disagree with them can prove how righteous our beliefs are...

What our president said, was not what was in the various proposals put together by the dems. I'm sick and tired of him saying a bipartisan answer is what is needed, yet republicans are not asked to the table. He lies over and over again, and it is simply covered up by beautifully scripted speeches as if we're all going to follow like sheep. He and his administration call genuine americans with concerns names, THEY (dems) stage the town hall meetings with their union thugs...it's so sad, and so transparent.
If there is such a push by the American people in support of this health care plan, why aren't the people coming out in droves to support it? Why do the dems have to conjure up support and seed the town halls with thugs? Five things are needed for Health Care Reform
1. Tort reform, at a minimum, if a case is dismissed or found in favor of the physician, the plantiff is required to pay the physician's legal fee's.
2. Income tax deduction for full cost of health insurance and all medical bills.
3. Require all Health Insurance companies to provide coverage in a minimum of 10 states. Drop all restrictions of not crossing state lines. Just like auto insurance companies.
4. Vote the democrates out of office. Get fresh blood in congress.
5. Get rid of lobbist.

The President suggests "paying more for nursing professors so they can train more nurses..." yet right now the reimbursement for performing cases while training Nurse Anesthesia students has been further reduced by Medicare. (You would now make more if you did the case on your own and skipped the training altogether...)
BC/BS announced that a 20% reimubursement decrease is coming for physicians. That will be passed along to nurses who work with these physicians driving salaries down even further.

Also, I just caught the latest speech about healthcare on Fox. To nurses this time. He said that the number of insured, according to just-released census data, has increased since last year.
But he failed to note that the number of insured has INCREASED from 253.4 million in 2007 to 255.1 million in 2008. MORE people, then, are covered than ever before, but we need to throw our entire system out? That's ridiculout. Gee, my toilet is clogged, think I'll buy a new house.

My mind has not been changed by the President's speech last night or this morning to the ANA. The ANA represents only a VERY SMALL number of nurses. I have been a nurse for 35 years and agree that the healthcare system needs to be fixed but at what cost and who will pay for it? This should not be rushed through. Whenever government gets involved, care should always be taken. One glaring example is the way the bailouts were handled.
For a president who has built a reputation of being able to bring groups together I was very dissapointed in his approach used in last nights speech. He seemed agitated and at times he used threats to get his points across (i.e., We will call you out!). Once again he uses a tired approach of "the sky will fall if you don't do this" (i.e., companies will shut down, people will lose their job, their insurance and will die). The speech was long on platitudes and short of details another hallmark of Obama. He made it clear that he will push for a public option and play lip service to Tort reform. Not much new in that speech.
We need to let health insurance companies compete nationwide to create real competition in the marketplace. Tort reform should also be on the top of the list.
Obama is being Obama a person who is trying to take away from the people that's on medicare and medicad he wants to dictate what he wants but all he's after is control he wants to make our country a socialist country and take what freedom we have away. Actually, the bill is not like the Canadian, English or any other European country. It is a bill which adopted the working systems from other countries and adapted to what would work in the US. Canadian health care IS government run, the US health care will not be.
The only thing the US government will do is set new rules which for instance, will not allow people to be dropped or rejected for pre-existing conditions.
I'm glad we have some sort of conversation going on. You might have read the bill but I don't think you understand the health care system in other countries. They do not compare to the proposed US system. You will find some likeness, but like I said, they adopted and adapted.
I lived in a European country and know it's system. It works there but wouldn't work in it's current form in the US. Thats why the US is not adopting the same exact systems but adapting them to US circumstances.
I know my promise is not worth much to anyone here, but I can guarantee that after the dust of this entire health care battle settles and the bill has been approved, health care will be available for almost every American, government health care cost per capita will lower and you, your children and everyone will be able to fight illnesses like cancer before they get out of control. How beneficial would it be to you or your family to be able to afford going to the doctor to do regular check ups and catching that cancer in it's first fase?

I'm an oncology nurse. I've had experience with Medicare refusing to give my patient one portion of his life live extending chemo because of it's price tag. He was in Skilled care and they refused to allow him to have the drug AND would not allow his family to self pay. That is the fine example of what will be coming our way if One Big A__ Mistake America (OBAMA) has his way with our health care system. I am a Registered Nurse and I want nothing to do with this plan!!!

HR3200 leaves too many things out which makes it difficult for me to support it. How do you insure that illegals will not be covered but not include e-verify and other enforcement checks into the bill? How do you cover millions more at no extra cost? How do you rob money from Medicare and not reduce services as a consequnce? After taking money from Medicare, where does the rest of it come from? Where are the extra medical professionals going to come from? Why can't fix the problems in smaller bills? Why do we have to do another monster bill that makes it difficult to read much less understand? How much do the unions profit from this Bill? Will it be easier for the SEIU to unionize using HR3200 as their mandate? Does the AMA and the Nursing Association speak for all doctors and nurses?

Later, he RAILS his critics and brings up Bush and the Iraq war.......during a speech on HEALTHCARE. A leader leads. A leader does not continue to bash the prior administration in order to score political points. He throws his opposition one little bone about doing some "trials" in some states with tort reform and that is his bipartisan effort? Bush wanted to do this and the Dems blocked it. He still never told us how he will pay for all this, especially with the economy tanked and HIS deficit already skyrocketing. Cut cost in Medicare and Medicaid? I say, do it FIRST and MAYBE I would believe it! And then the last, sickening tug at the heartstrings Ted Kennedy re-eulogy was just about as low as it gets. Delivery as usual great he gets a B+ but content a C- at best.

The government should print a version in plain English so we know what it all about and how we are going to be "TAXED" to pay for it. Plus fine a family $3800.00 if they don't have health insurance. I'm sorry but President Obama's speech just didn't cut it last night. He left way too many details out and seemed mostly intent on rebutting talking points of the "opposition". I listened to every word last night...but I have to admit, half way through I was begging for the president to get over it....I felt the same way this past week listening to Rep. Alcee Hastings field questions at a Town Hall meeting I attended ... I'm of the belief people will disagree with me , never do I believe those same people are dishonorable in what motivates them ... Our president and Rep Hastings have both proven to me, no matter how they sugar coat their words, they both believe I don't have a right to disagree with them......
