When democrats cannot get their way they call Republican's unpatriotic and devisive. This rhetoric of "trust me" and asaying that all the people who attend town meetings distort and lie has got to stop. Obama has a primary focus on healthcare hoping to ride his mometum through this Congress when we all know we need to fix the problem, not wholesale change the programs in place. Obama's second priority is to promote Obama, enough already with the tv and speaches, he tells us his plan and he comes back three times to explain what he meant, if he is this inarticulate what's next? All anyone needs to know is that if he cannot make a speach to Congress and the American people on time, he has no idea what is to come with healthcare, his lack of respect translated into what we will have to do under his healcare plan and that is wait until its just too late.

  • tonysanti - 17 years ago

The Presidential speech is full of rhetoric and nothing but pure salesmanship and he is obviously putting his political ambitions first before the citizens of this country. He wanted this so badly hoping that people he will insure will get him re-elected in his next term. His speech has no substance and has no detailed plans. The President thinks that he can fool Americans and he probably thinks that we are all stupid. This is unacceptable!

  • doug - 17 years ago

You can say this or say that and wouldn’t change anything.

The saying that all republicans use, “The people” that they acquirer from fox news, talk radio is a flat out lie. They are brain washing there audience into thinking that you have to believe us because everybody in American is in on it!

Tells a lot about ones ability to think for themselves…

  • Kay - 17 years ago

Yes Robert, I watched the speech. I was a democrat for many years until the party went left. I am an independant and conservative.

The bottom line people is: Health care needs to be fixed. Medicare needs to be cleaned up.

The plan offered by Obama and the democrats insist on a govt. ran program that will not work and puts government deeper in our private affairs.

People read the constitution.......it calls for as little government control as there can possible be. The government owes us NOTHING. This country was built on free interprise, not government hand outs.

I couldn't keep my eyes off Pelosi during the speech. Those god awful expressions on her face. The talking to Biden during the President's speech. The cocky smile and the jumping up and cheering right on que. I expected to see her pull out the pom-poms. It all reminds me too much of junior high school for some reason. Wow! Are we in big trouble or what?

Now, Obama wants to compare the public option to Medicare and talks about how Medicare users love it. Well, golly, I love it too if others were paying for my health insurance. Duh! Then he compared it to states requiring us to have car insurance. Again, apples and oranges. States require liability insurance to protect the PUBLIC, not ourselves, while we are using public owned streets and highways. How does that remotely compare to health insurance for ourselves being required? How is that protecting the public?

Which do you think it is? Is he THAT dumb, or does he think we are too dumb to know the difference?

He's trying to sell week old stale bread in a new package.Failed to convince me.Tort reform is he serious(NO).How is the bills cost going to be paid for NO SPECIFIC ANSWER.If they could save money and reform Medicaid and Care why won't he do it NOW????.Joe Wilson, although he was inapporiate yelling out LIER he was right and HONEST.

  • Mari Wilson - 17 years ago

He did not change my mind.
I am against big government control of my life and this is what is being suggested. The current administration has lost the trust of the citizens of the United States; there is little they can say or do that does not suggest they want us under their thumbs. When you appoint the bizarre thinking creatures Obama has chosen to appoint as Czars, there is little room left for trust. Thank God the American people-of all political affiliation- are taking notice and fighting back.

Jane - I guess you don't remember during the last eight years when DEMOCRATS were blasting the Presidency pertaining to the war, declaring that the "war is lost". You are worried about the devisiveness that you are currently seeing, and want to act like it only pertains to Republicans???

  • Ray - 17 years ago

Abortion is NOT basic health care.Any proposed healthcare bill that includes taxpayer funded abortion and no respect for life of the elderly which includes termally ill patients should never be part of a healthcare bill.I do not trust this admistration for doing what is right and moral for the country. This President,Obama, is Pro Choice, and the most evil person we have ever had in the White House. His leadership threatens family values and when the family goes , so does the country.

    ---------------

GEORGE W. BUSH USED A TELEPROMPTER ALL THE TIME ! but the problem with Bush was he could not read.

  • Robert - 17 years ago

    Siobhan,

yes I heard Obama mention those things. Cross-state insurance? Please explain how that helps?
Tort reform? Tell me about the reform?

And the point I made about republicans standing was in response to a statemetn by Julie that everyone was brainwashed. Of course there are things in the legislation that republican's don't like, that's also not the point. The point is middle ground.

So a few other things you brought up:
controlling the drug companies outrageous costs to the public - agreed
stopping the "waste and fraud" - there's a benefit of a not-for-profit insurance company
stop the pre-exsisting illness exclusions -- was in Obama's plan
Having people of lower incomes buy into the Medicaid system.... -- rather see everyone participate in health insurance, and create low cost insurance for those with lower income.

So there is definately some shared ground here.

  • Leroy - 17 years ago

    Seriously:
Speech sounded like he was running for office, making promises that are lies. NEVER TRUST A LIAR. He may have good intentions just if he wants to change a country, It Ain't going to be "AMERICA"!!!!!!!

President Obama's speech on health care was an attempt to further Big Government on the american taxpayers.People are waking up and the Mirage of Change is being seen through by the American people. The government can't fix what needs to remain private like health care.We have the best health care in the world. We don't need Canada Healthcare that takes too long for treatment. If government healthcare is so good why do the Canadians and people from uk and abroad come here for healthcare.Mr.President Obama,Americans will not be fooled.Mr President and democratic congress,Listen to the people. We've been called ''Angry Mob" well we are Angry at the policies like healthcare that is putting our freedoms at great risk.WE the People will not stand still and be silent. We will "Call You and the Democratic led Congress Out "that tread on our freedom in every area.America is speaking out to Congress with the Teaparty Express and other gatherings,Are you listening? The whitehouse and democratic led Congress will hear us when we go to the booths by that time it will be too late

  • Concerned Citizen - 17 years ago

He is either a liar or he has not read the bill. Ignorance or dishonesty...one of the two...neither are characteristics we should have in a president.

  • Don B. - 17 years ago

This is the worst president, I have seen in all my years as a voter. Even Clinton didn't call those in congress a liar at least he didn't durning a speech to congress on national tv. Too bad that Obama believes that everyone must believe everything he says is law. Since congress & the white house are to good for this health care they want us all to have, why then is it good enough for us. For the president to say there were no death panels is a out right lie, because it is in the house bill as well as health care for illegals. Can't this man read, Oh I guess he can't he did not read the stimulis or ombulus bills before he signed them into law. And that is a fact.

I think someone has misguided thoughts in regards to non patriotic republicans. Turning our economy into monopoly money with a growing debt will finally cause our great country to stumble if not fall. Hmmm, I wonder what the terrorists would rather face ? A country concerned over important issues yet strong or one who has a credit rating in the 500 to the rest of the world. Im sure the world will always have our best interests and be there when we need them.

  • dd out west - 17 years ago

The President is a great orator with beautifully crafted words and lofty sounding ideas. The problem comes when you peel back the high minded words and look at the nuts and bolts of the thing. There is no way a government that hasn't been able to fight government fraud and waste in ANY of it's social programs is going to be able to "save" money fighting fraud and waste to help pay for the new program. Government, by it's very size and nature, is inefficient. Some that's that huge can't help it. Along with inefficientcy comes departmental entrenchment and the little kingdoms that come with it. It's the usually government rob Peter, smoke and mirrors ideas. Can't we just get real about costs, efficiency and where the true need is.
The president made a beautiful gesture to bi-particianship last night, but refused to meet with the Republican leadership when they sent him a letter expressing their willingness to set down with him and discuss their ideas on healthcare reform. Yes, the Republicans do have healthcare reform ideas, but you would never know it if you depended on only a few outlets for your information. I personally believe that most of their ideas should be given a go to see if they'll work. That would be the fair way of doing things. If it didn't, go back to pouring money down a black hole.

Reading some of the blogs, I noticed that those on the left are much nastier personally than those on the right. I wonder why... It's one thing to attack an idea, completely another to attack people.

THE DEMYS IN THE LAST 2 YRS WHEN BUSH WAS IN OFFICE RAN THE HOUSE. BARNEY FRANK IN MY OPENIONAND PELOSI ARE JUST AS MUCH FAULT FOR THE HOUSING MARKET FALL . THEY KNEW AND AS FAR AS THE SPEECH THE PRESIDENT IN MY OPENION IS NOT THERE FOR THE PEOPLE AS HE CLAIMS HE THERE FOR CONTROL. THE ILLEGAL IMGRANTS WE WILL BE PAYING FOR THERE HEALTHCARE HE WILL SEEK IT IN THE BACK DOOR. OH BY THE WAY YOU KNOW RANGEL WHO HELPS MAKE OUR TAX LAWS . HES STILL THERE AND HE HAS NOT PAID HIS TAXES WHATS UP WITH THAT. AND FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW HE IS GOING TO TRY AND PASS A LAW ON DEATH TAX FOR US TO PAY 55% OF OUR ESTATESWHEN WE ARE GONE IN 2010. HE WANTS TO MAKE IT PERMAMENT. SO DONT FORGET TO VOTE REPEAL ON THE BILL.

  • Leslie - 17 years ago

Just because Obama is a wonderful speaker...DOES NOT mean that he is saying anything!

No free health care for illegal immigrants, yeah right! Just go to any ER and look around, they are already sucking up free services - health care, education, and legal services.

Although the speech was about health care, I must comment on Obama eagerness to cute the pay of the federal employee from a measly 2.4% to 2.0%! That includes the MILITARY!

So, we are not being taxed to pay for the wasteful bailouts, but our bonuses are being cut. Interesting, CEOs still got their million dollar bonuses and I'm sure Congress will too!

CHANGE without a forethought is GROSS negligence!

  • Jon Sannes - 17 years ago

If you listned to what Obama said now,Before it was 47 plus million uninsuried, now it's down to 30 million. Why can't America see this Obama guy is really a con artist. He dosen't know what he's selling, but can sure talk about it.Look at what the Dems have done with America when they get a chance at power.Shame on America!

  • Wendy - 17 years ago

to the one that wants once again, play the race card...I am black. and am apoled to the fact that ...Obama gets the grand title of " the first African American Pres. He is half black and half white. He is not our first African American pres...he is our first bi- racial pres. So get off the racial card..have you nothing better to say then using that as a come back.

  • HappyLDS - 17 years ago

'Did the speech change my mind on health care?' is a weak question if you are sincerely looking for opinion. Are you assuming everyone taking the pole was/is against the President's health care plan? I am grateful for President Obama and his speech did NOT change my mind so should I join the other 90% in your pole so you can promote the idea that all americans agree with FOX news? Just Asking!

  • June - 17 years ago

Last nights speech again was the same old political speech. I've seen Obamo
too many times on tv, you can tell from his speeches that he wants to CONTROL . He has such unique ways in trying to make Americans appear to ignorant an uneducated .

  • Dan D - 17 years ago

EVERY REPUBLICAN ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET including Hannity, Palin, Bush, Limbaugh, and Ronald Reagan would not be where they are at today without the help of the U.S. government. Not a single republican has ever done anything on their own. Without the infrastructure of the U.S. government and the sweat of past Americans, republicans would be extinct right now.

GET OVER YOURSELVES ! You did nothing on your own !

  • Roland - 17 years ago

I agree with my fellow patriots, same BS and NO concrete ways of fixing what's broke and leaving what works alone. All the people I know have worked hard for what we have with NO government help. Now the government seems to think that people are too stupid to make decisions by themselves. They are just perpetuating their own political office so they don't have to work like the rest of America. Keep up the good work Fox News. God bless you ALL.

  • perseus23 - 17 years ago

Obama will fix Health Care whether Republicans like it or not. The bottom line is the Republican party has decline thanks to Bush. And now you have the far right doing what they can to trash everything Obama says and do. whether its the school speech to young kids or him being a racist even if he is half white, to Health Care reform that America desperately needs. America has always produce great leaders during troubling times we had Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, and Reagan and now we have Obama. Thank God for Obama

  • Ray Morin - 17 years ago

He didn't change my mind towards health care. Everything he was saying was known as Washington Doubletalk. Why can't the goverment try and work with insurance companies and let the people buy it like car insurance. That's the way it's done in some countries. I've read some of the little gems in his package, and there's alot of things the President said that wasn't true. Even if alot of the american people are not polaticians we are not dumb.

  • Tommy - 17 years ago

Goofballs, you elected an idiot, idiot is, idiot does? It goes both ways.

  • Tim - 17 years ago

I actually listened to his whole speech and liked what he said this time. He cleared up a lot of the things I've been hearing, or at least addressed them directly. I thought It was a good speech in that it helped to clarify what he is trying to accomplish. I only hope he'll do his best to follow through. I didn't vote for him and am reluctant to even listen to most politicians half the time, however I get the feeling he at least means well. Which is what I liked about Bush 1 and 2.

  • DJH - 17 years ago

Patrick Mans said "A big majority of Americans voters voted for president Obama "
Either you're a liar or stupid, you decide which. Obama did not receive a majority support from Americans - he received a slight majority of REGISTERED VOTERS, 66 million out of 300+ million isn't anywhere near a majority. Why do you empty headed Obummer worshippers continue to spout this same pathetic lie - do you honestly think most Americans are unaware of the fact that they didn't support Obama? Heck, he was so inspirational ONLY 40% of registered voters polled for him, FORTY PERCENT OF REGISTERED VOTERS - again, hardly a majority of Americans - he did however receive a slight majority of BALLOTS CAST... which is far and away different than the majority of Americans.
To put this another way, since facts seem a bit elusive to Obama and his minions, 60% of registered voters either voted for McCain or NOT AT ALL.

Obama's empty suited lies, his foolish naivete, and the fact that the media refused to vet him meant MOST AMERICANS REFUSED TO SUPPORT HIM.
Who cares what the 40% of registered voters (ie. 21% of the population) want? They tend to be whiney and lean toward more government control of their lives... are you saying you can't make it without the government controlling your life? Figures!

  • Linda - 17 years ago

I would really like for Obama to stop talking so much and do something besides blame Bush, accuse everyone of lying who disagree with him, and try to cover up what he is really doing. I am really sick of turning on my TV and seeing him making another speech. I cannot believe how many crooks are in the White House now and no one seems to care except Fox News. No other president could have ever gotten away with the kinds of things he has done and is still doing and be lauded for in the mainstream media.

  • Michelle - 17 years ago

    Just posted by another peron:

"This seems more and more truly about deep seeded racism. He won. President Barack Hussein Obama won. If you're really a patriot you should respect your president even if you think he is not the right color."
This has nothing to do with race. I did not agree with President Bush on many issues and there were times I did not respect him. And at times I did not respect President Clinton. I do not respect President Obama and what he is doing to our great country. Open your eyes and stop trying to make this a racial issue.

  • John - 17 years ago

Oh so much constructive thought goes into most of these comments...
Does anyone here read/listen to news elsewhere? I think most don't. FOXians are Americans but most Americans aren't FOXians (unless American Idol is on...).LOL
You'all have healthcare? I think psychiatry should be covered by your healthcare plans...

  • Renita` - 17 years ago

I've supported the efforts of universal healthcare. With H1N1 being such a big issue, one would expect the need for universal healthcare. God forbid someone or their child who has insurance to become gravely ill or dies from this or another contagious disease. And, the disease or virus was passed along from a person who has NO insurance. Especially when, the illness could've been prevented or treated had that person had insurance to get treated. Think about it!!!

  • doug peters - 17 years ago

"The people" of United states want this bill passed...

  • Allan - 17 years ago

Jane's comments are exactly whats wrong and causes polarization with political parties. I'm a republican that voted for Obama. She tends to categorize 'all" republicans as she does Fox News as well. There are some legitimate issues at stake here, and this may very well be the social issue of this century in America. I agree with Obama that something needs to be done. Insurance Companys have had free reign for too long. What I did not hear in the Presidents Speech was what he was going to do about out of control cost imposed by Hospitals, Doctors, and Pharmaceutical Companies. Until this becomes part of the plan health care cost will continue to rise and we will all suffer, whether there is a public option or not. Come on Jane address the issues and stop stereotyping groups, political parties, and Fox News.

  • ken - 17 years ago

This is not about health care reform, they (obama and the left) want total control of the country. The true intent behind this legislation is socialism and a continued democratic entitlement for those who support them. Social Security and Medicare are both doomed at current benefit levels, addding another massive entitlement program will only continue to degrade the current fiscal condition of the nation. The nation cannot afford this type of deficit spending to fund programs that are not sustainable.

  • Wendy - 17 years ago

Waldo and the rest of you Obama lovers...get your head out of the sand....this isn't about dems or rep...this is about the American values...or what once was...Instead its about people who have lost their pride in taking care of their own bussniess, raising their kids to do the same...we have a give me give me society....take care of me on the backs of of those who really work for what they get and are responsible for their own actions. Typical of us all "its always someone elses fault...the blame game" this is not a solution to the problem it is the problem....I want Uncle Sam out of my bussness not telling me how to live.

  • Anna - 17 years ago

To what could those voting YES be responding? Were they hoping they would finally hear details and are disappointed that it was just another campaign speech? Have they now read the bill and realize that he still spews the same untruths about this bill? Are they distressed that he has now lowered the Presidential office to the level of denigrating others? What does that YES vote mean?

  • carol - 17 years ago

obama is full of lies, just like he is full of crap. america wake up and stop him before it is to late.

Unfortunately, our president defines “Pathological Narcissism”. He continues to turn his back on the American People, and those who may just have the better idea. I look forward to 2012.

  • Rebecca - 17 years ago

Obama is such a liar. Look at all the things he said campaigning. No lobbist, no special interest in his administration. He is nothing but a joke as a president. We live this kind of politics in Illinois everyday. Once a liar always a liar. He is runing this country. I said when he was campaiging he wanted to try this country into a communist country and this is another way of doing that. The banks were first, then the car companies, now health care and then what's next. Wake up people.

  • Leroy - 17 years ago

All you Obama fans can't be serious, still supporting. I would go hide my face if I were you.

  • mike-wisconsin - 17 years ago

I think it is about time someone called obama on the stuff he is spewing-maybe it was the wrong place to do it but I said it at home. Trash this 3200 bill and start over with tort reform and let us keep what we have. All or most people that get laid off has the right to cola insurance coverage-the reason they don't do it is it costs money-right? who is going to pay when people get laid off with this plan-we the people-nobody is stating that-if people got coverage while laid off and repaid the cost in payments etc it would be a different deal. Absolutly no to 3200 bill-start over.

  • Carol D - 17 years ago

Last night's speech was the same speech he's given over and over again. Either he has not read HR3200 or he thinks American people are stupid! Of course, in his narcissistic mind, NO ONE is as smart as he!

He accuses Congressmen, talk show hosts, etc. of lies - but he is the one who is lying about this bill. Perhaps he thinks we're too stupid to read, but MANY of us have read this bill and the only ones who think it's a good bill are those who WANT to be dependent on the government...my suggestion for these people? Get outta 'Dodge!' America was built and grew strong on independent, strong citizens who do for themselves. If those who want Socialism don't like this country, there is a simple solution for them...they have NO right to destroy this country - we can ship them all to Cuba or Venezuela! Let them live under tyranny for a while. Exile them - along with every member of Congress who is working 'under the radar' to destroy our Constitution. If you don't like the thought of working for what you have, then we don't want you here...you have NO RIGHT to destroy this nation! YOU ARE BOUND by the Constitution!

And WE, THE PEOPLE WANT OUR FREE COUNTRY BACK!

  • Mike Schwartz - 17 years ago

I agree it was the same old song and dance. Blaming the past administration. Was not Obama part of the Senate when these issues came up. What did he do in the Senate to change things? Jane I am appalled of what you said. Are you an American. Don't you think that was inapprporiate? Funny how other news shows have on the people that support the issues. Fox is more fair and balanced.

  • Dan D - 17 years ago

Using FoxNews polls are like going to Michael Moore's website for Fair and Balanced information.

Obama hit a homerun last night, Healthcare reform is more about keeping jobs in the U.S.. Republicans keep complaining about the high un-employment number but once again don't want to fix the problem. Corporations have moved all their Head-Quarters oversea so they don't have to use the current U.S. Healthcare system. The U.S. can't compete with countries that have full blown Universal Healthcare.

Republican congressmen showed NO CLASS at all last night !

H.R. 3200: Sec 246 — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

  • mustang - 17 years ago

Obama....don't have sense enough to pour piss out of a boot...including the ones on his boat.

  • Mary Isbell - 17 years ago

Watched the health care show (yes, I called it a show because it dealt in make-believe) and continue to realize that the President lacks the ability to listen. Listening with an open mind is a skill that is difficult to acquire and the President needs some listening training.
Using words (or manipulating the English language) to try to convince me that I did not hear what I actually heard disrespects me and every American. Not critizing liberal Democrats who spent the summer months calling American voters names was wrong. Pretending to take the trial lawyers to task was just another vocal ploy.
Come on Mr. President: step back and realize that you are supposed to be the President of the United States not the President of the left wing. When you come back with some credibility then I will listen.

  • Roy - 17 years ago

Thanks be to the President who pointed out how much money we spent in Iraq. Do you Republicans, who helped set up universal health care in Iraq and fund it billions with U. S. dollars not feel a little hypocritical when Obama suggests we at least end the insurance industry's terrible treatment of the U. S. citizen.

  • Pete W Phillips - 17 years ago

Hell No! He didin't change my mind. Just more slick liberal lies disguised in a his pretty rhetoric. I will admit that the ability to communicate is an extremely important part of leadership. He does speak well. His problem is the substance of everything that he is lying to communicate... I mean trying to communicate.

  • jltnol - 17 years ago

What a poll.. This huge "NO" number includes me.... me feeling about health care reform hasn't changed.... I'm in favor of the Obama health plan, so the huge no response is pretty meaningless.

Barrack is a great speaker? “NO” I would call him a verbal exhibitionist.
He uses his vocal cords like an artist to paint you a lovely picture..
Could there be impeachment for ignorance in direction he is sending our country?
My God, I want change Barrack not destruction of our democracy. I hope and pray you don’t succeed in this spiral.
If impeachment would stop you like ice water down your back, I hope you get a cold back soon.
    Jim

  • Barney - 17 years ago

This President will "call you out"???? Are you kidding me!!

Jane - based on your comment, then when the dems had our Country with their hate and divisivness, they caused the terrorist attacks we experienced? You are a nut job who can't handle the fact that Americans will fight with everything we have to keep these guys in D.C. from turning our Country into a communist or socialist nation. Not on OUR watch!!

  • Paul E Bushnell - 17 years ago

It's a shame that in the greatest Country in the history of the world, people die because they can not afford health care! It's a shame that most Republicians care so little about their fellow citizens that they can say, "No one helped me, why should I help them." So strange! I am one Republician that believes with my whole heart that health care should be for EVERY AMERICAN, and the American government should insure that it happens!
We have government run health care for our military and veterans, Medicare for our seniors, Medical for the indigent, and government funded medical care for children, We have government run Military, Fire protection, Police protection, Public Transit......, Schools, and Prisons. Why not healthcare for the people not covered? Prisoners and the Poor get free healthcare. Why not the rest of us?

  • Bob Smith - 17 years ago

We Independents have not drank the Obama cool aid the new speech did not
change the same old heath care bill that them people have been push down the American tax payer throat from the beginning ( poultry is just anther way of saying chicken) . This county have nerver been this divided sense the civil war
we need the clean house in our government as Pres.George W Bush said after 9-11 your with use or against us there is neutral ground in this WAR.

  • Anthony Marzullo - 17 years ago

I don't know who Jane is that left a name calling comment, but she is the problem with this country. Talk about unpatriotic. Doesn't she watch the news and get both sides. How can you not see what Obama and his cronies are doing to this country. If the people in congress and the White House really want to fix the health care problem in this nation what they should do first is fix the fraud that is happening in Medicare and Medicaid. And then fix social security and not allow congress to put their hands into it anymore. If the people who are for this healthcare plan why is it that their democratic leaders refuse to go on it? Let alonw, anyone else in Congress. If this so called great health care plan that they want to shove down the throats of this country, shouldn't congress and all of the officials in the White House and their familes be put on it first to see how it works?

  • Scott - 17 years ago

The only person telling the truth last night during his speech was the Represenitive from South Carolina! He has the biggest balls in Congress, and I would re-elect him in a heartbeat! It's time to start speaking up! This health care bill is full of crap!

  • happy camper - 17 years ago

When is my free car coming to my free house with my free doctor in it? Obama said that was gonna happen and I believe him 100%

  • Paul Rarey - 17 years ago

The sound-bite I really liked was ".... spreading lies .... we will call you out ....". My first thought was .... Pelosi is in real trouble now! But then I woke up and realized "lies" ment "truths we don't want talked about".

    Keep up the great work.

  • Jean - 17 years ago

The pres totally ignored the people who raised cain at the townhall meetings - does he not realize alot of people DID NOT vote for this inexperienced organizer? He should at least acknowledge this considerable amount of voters. Instead he "ticks us off" as not important. DO NOT pass this insane bill.

  • Doug Peters - 17 years ago

This is misleading “Did the president’s speech change your mind on health care?” Making “no” seem as though someone is against the bill! I feel bad for anybody who believes anything Fox news says. Scary I say…

  • AZvet - 17 years ago

I heard nothing new and find it discusting that Nancy Pelosi sits with that disingenuous grin, jumping up everytime the President hits a mutual chord with her crazy views.

Bashing cable TV and radio shows does not make friends with his "tell me nothing new" speach. All he stressed is trust me and everyone else is lying.

Sorry, i like my healthcare, don't want the government telling my employer that they can either pay a fine or continue to offer a company paid plan and leave me with some poor crap of a public health plan. It won't work and will be similar to every other government run agency, none of them work.

  • Kay - 17 years ago

    To Robert:

The point YOU are missing is that the public option will eventually eliminate the insurance companies, this has been proven many times before. AND GOVERNMENT RAN HEALTH CARE DOES NOT WORK TO OUR BENEFIT. The government does not belong in healthcare. Read the constitution.

  • Ray - 17 years ago

WOW... Jane nicely said about respect for the President!!! .. but where was your outrage when DEMS were screaming and calling President Bush a liar??? The Dems are prvoing to be over reaching and are paying the price for it. Where is the transparency the President promised.... ?

  • Susan - Florida - 17 years ago

In my opinion... I do not trust ANYTHING Obama says anymore.

I have lost all faith in this Obama administration due to the constant bombardment of non-factual and baseless programs they want leading us to socialism. The only way Obama can EARN my trust back is to scrap the current 1400 page bill.... GET RID OF MEDICARE and MEDICAID FRAUD NOW... then once the corruption and fraud in those agencies are fixed.. Obama MUST mandate that Drug companies SHALL immediately STOP advertizing drugs and that money instead be diverted to the "GAP" in mediare prescription coverage...... then and only then... can we START to reform Health cCare and Health Insurance.

  • BigJoe - 17 years ago

Same old crap from obama and the same old racist crap from the morons who support this joker.

  • Kathleen M. Van Houten - 17 years ago

  • A Monaco - 17 years ago

Death panel=Bureaucrat who will decide if you are worthy of the health insurance that you need. For the elderly, my suggestion is NOT to become ill. You will be left to "fade to black". Is that sensitive enough far left??

  • imcrazyriter - 17 years ago

Congressman Joe Wilson said it best in his kneejerk reaction. That YOU LIE comment was the Hail Mary in the last sections of a Superbowl. And I was the Ref in the endzone with my arms in the air. TOUCHDOWN.
A true american HONEST politician? Imagine that!
    KUDOS Congressman Wilson.

  • Siobhan - 17 years ago

    BTW Robert,

There were plenty of moments when our "republican brethran" didn't stand up to applaud the President.... They stood when there was a reason to stand... they sat when the President put forth more rhetoric.

  • herbie hoover - 17 years ago

He did great! He's gonna take the whole system and run it single handedly without tax increases and without rationing. Basically he's gonna follow the Cuban model and put street sweepers and prisoners in white coats, call them Doctors and let 'em loose! Obama will save us all.

  • Orville Schinke - 17 years ago

The entire speech was delivered well. That's about the only thing that Obama does well--make speeches. It was filled with double talk and was very misleading. He is saying one thing but his congress is doing something else. His leadership ability is next to nothing.

  • Donna - 17 years ago

AND THAT'S a BIG "HELL NO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Please, I have had enough, if I see Obamas face on T.V. one more time i am going to vomit. Did anyone take alook at Michelle, not happy, aaaaahhhhh.

  • DJH - 17 years ago

Now now, folks. Let's not pile on Jane. She is just another one of those 'educated' supporters of Obama's we saw so much of after he won... you know, jumping up and down about how Obama was going to buy her a house and a car and she wouldn't have to pay for food anymore. Don't blame her for being too stupid and for having her head buried so far in the sand she can't see that the hate and intolerance she rails against IS COMING FROM HER AND HER ILK!
Anyone who has disagreed with Obama (ie. most of the country) has been attacked as a racist, evil monger, etc. It seems these lemmings only find it patritotic to 'respect' the presidency when it's their false messiah who is president. These are the same classless liars who called Bush every name in the book and jusitifed it.

  • Michelle - 17 years ago

Watching President Obama's speech scares me even more today then I was the day he was elected. I am a health care worker. Our doctors have no protection. Our society is a sue happy society. Our health are is so expensive because of "ambulance chasers". We do not need a government ran health care system. It does not work. Stop allowing our doctors to be sued for non-sense reasons. This will allow doctors to practice medicine the way it should be practiced. If this health care reform goes through, we as patients will have no say so in our health care decision. The government will tell us who we will see, what test we will have done, and what medications we can take. You think we have a shortage of nurses and doctors now see what happens if this plan goes through.
Also, the threats that if someone disagrees with Mr. Obama will be called out. Well, Mr. Obama I will stand by any congress member that stands out against what you are trying to pass. Please call me out. Call it what you want Mr. Obama. I call it socialism.

  • Patrick Mans - 17 years ago

Newsflash: Republicans LOST the election. Big time!
A big majority of Americans voters voted for president Obama knowing he wanted health care for every American. America is about democracy. He was elected and he is doing what he said he was going to do.
Just because you don't like the outcome of the election it doesn't mean you get to boycott change.
This seems more and more truly about deep seeded racism. He won. President Barack Hussein Obama won. If you're really a patriot you should respect your president even if you think he is not the right color.
I respected President George W. Bush and I didn't think he had the right brain.

  • Siobhan - 17 years ago

    Robert,

You ask what is wrong with health care reform? Nothing, except that HR3200 isn't health care "reform" it is health care restructuring.

Reform to me would be, controlling the drug companies outrageous costs to the public, tort reform, stopping the "waste and fraud", stop the pre-exsisting illness exclusions, allowing interstate purchase of health insurance etc.. Having people of lower incomes buy into the Medicaid system....

In HR 3200 there is none of that.....

  • Robert - 17 years ago

    Kay,

I by no means think Obama is god. What a ridiculous statement to make. The liberal label doesnt fit, although I do agree that anyone that supports Obama is UNFAIRLY labeled a liberal. Did you watch the speech last night by chance Kay? What do you say of all your republican brethern that stood up with democrats yesterday and applauded what the president had to say? Were they also brainwashed?

Listen, if you wan to debate facts, spit them out, lets hear it. But this soundbyte "your a liberal" crab is elementary. It's a safe place to run when your out of facts. don't run there.

You maybe an extreme conservative, so what? It's america. I still think you should have access to basic healthcare. I still believe that, even if we differ on opinion, there is NO american that deserves to be commoditized by our current health care structure. I mean, did you hear that example of a breast cancer patient that was denied coverage b/c they didn't report a case of acne? Is that the America you want to live in?

  • willibeu - 17 years ago

I agree ...vote em all out ...our Government is one huge convoluted quagmire of muck!!!!!

  • NoSocialized Med for USA - 17 years ago

Any poll on CNN is a joke. Robots walking in lockstep. Dem asses piling on with glee, fortified by hate and divisiveness. No respect for the Presidency. I hope the terrorists aren't watching, I'm sure they feel it would be much easier to attack a divided country. Dem asses are the most non-patriotic members of our society.

Now this is the real truth, CNN doesn't even put a poll on that you can answer the way you want too. Just think how the Democrats downgraded President Bush, he wasn't surronded by the terrorists advisors like Obama is.

  • Brooks NC - 17 years ago

***Jane - Any poll on Fox is a joke. Robots walking in lockstep. Repubs piling on with glee, fortified by hate and divisiveness. No respect for the Presidency. I hope the terrorists aren't watching, I'm sure they feel it would be much easier to attack a divided country. Repubs are the most non-patriotic members of our society.***

Jane - are you insane?...everyone should have the respect for the Presidency, just not Obama. He doesn't deserve respect for the lies he's been telling this country! His liberal style of politics is what is destroying this country and causing division. Republicans are the most patriotic people in this country b/c they aren't trying to shutdown the war and give up! Patriotism means love and devotion to one's country...this means not causing division as your statement, "Repubs are the most non-patriotic members of our society" is representing. You're blaming everything upon the republicans...that is causing division.

The crooks in Congress, the House, the Senate, and the White House has destroyed this country more since January...

Where is Reagan when we need him...

God help and bless this country!

  • DJH - 17 years ago

Blah blah blah... same ignorant tripe from the Obama lemmings. Have you by any chance perused the CNN comments section and marveled at the ignorance and group think there? No, of course not - because they think like you stupid, un-American twits.

Obama is a lying, empty suited sack of garbage and while healthcare reform is neccesary this is just an effort to grab more power and unionize more of the country. You idiots who keep worshipping at the false alter of Obama already look foolish to MOST OF THE COUNTRY - particularly when you spout the inane stupidity that an 'overwhelming majority of American voted for Obama', not even almost close to true. A small majority of REGISTERED VOTERS voted for him, but only 21% of the population voted for this moron!

  • Siobhan - 17 years ago

    Julie,
If you were in the military... what contact did you have with the health care system in the countries you were stationed in?

My husband was in the army, we were stationed in Germany. Any medical care we needed was provided for by the Army. We had Army doctors and Army hospitals... and the only cost we paid was a daily charge for our meals if we were hospitalized.

So I don't understand how you had any experience with the health care systems in the countries you were stationed in.

  • Robert - 17 years ago

    Julie,

Ok, responding to your fact check:
    1. Yes I figured the example you gave was some time ago. You seem to be missing my point. When you were 20 years old you thought you didn't need insurance, but YOU DID. You did b/c you had a 7,000 accident that you could only afford to pay 2000 of. You should of been insured then, just like you are now, even though you were healthy. Why? because accidents happen.

    2. Read the bill you say.
Tell me what you disagree with:
Insurance companies can't deny you on pre-existing conditions
Insurance companies can't hick rates on you.
No American will ever go bankrupt again b/c they got sick (cap on max charges)
Insurance companies can't dump you in the middle of treatment.
A not-for-profit insurance company will offer Americans coverage to ensure profit insurance companies don't run rampid in insurance rate hikes.
Insurance companies have to pay a fee for any policy costing more than 8,000/year.
Coverage for those that CANNOT afford it.

What in the world is SO wrong with this reform? What are all of the sleeping dragons in this bill that will absolutely destroy everything good in our existing health care system?

Please, dump some facts out. And if all you have is that "healthy people are forced to buy insurance they don't need" I only need to point you to your own personal example that you DID need it when you thought you didn't b/c ACCIDENTS happen.

  • Roy Clairmont - 17 years ago

What I don't get is how come it's ok and no one questioned the cost of a preemptive war but it's such a problem to spend less than that in covering American's health care? Plus, did anyone hear "if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it". What's not free about it? Ah I know, forcing everyone to have healthcare it's taking away their freedom. That is because most people don't realize they are already paying for the healthcare of the uninsured with their taxes. Just stop being so selfish and self-centered. Are we not in the richest country in the world? The most powerful country in the world? But yet, we let people that need healthcare go without because we don't do anything to reign in the greed of heallthcare companies. Sure, this is America and free enterprise should prosper... but greed is another thing... it's so stupid to defend a system that is only benefiting corporations. Not small business. But big corporations. Most of you are blinded by the illusion that you're losing freedoms when they're already lost... if you've had any serious medical issue and carry a standard insurance, you know that when it's time to pay, your insurance company will do whatever they can not to pay... wake up. The real issue here is that you're controlled by big corporations that decide what eat, what you do, what you watch and yes whether you can live or not... and big government it trying to take advantage of the people... really? because big corporations aren't. They're just so nice and kind to all of us. Wake up!
