It is real. Nicolas Cage was offered the role in the late 90's. He signed the contract to make the movie and Warner Bros. pulled the picture. He was still paid $20 million even though the movie didn't get 1 min of film time. A good deal for both him and the audiances... Great actor but no Superman.
