poll options suck - i would have wanted to answer: glad i got it at launch, have enjoyed it for almost 3 months now, definitely worth it, plus i'm happy i helped launch the thing.

in a poll, always include a "something else" bucket, that way you know wheter you designed a good poll or not. if a lot of people pick the "something else" option, you know you missed something.

I don't think there were enough positive answers. The closest was the last option "Price cuts happen, such is life". I would of liked something like I'm glad I purchased for the original price and would of gladly paid more. I love this phone :)

Palm is known for this, releasing a phone within 8-10 months of the next, price cuts are part of technology! I remember buying a 2gb usb drive for 59 on sale just for 2 months later it be available for 19 and now days i can get a 4gb for 9 so its tech life! early adopters have always paid! i am buying my pre Thursday but if i could have i would have on day 1 & not regretted it! What about the people who bought HD-DVD? they are just SOL they dont even have any more movies sold in that format! I have a xbox360 elite, am i pissed they are 299 now days, NO i have had it longer that if i where just buying it! Cell phones change quick nothing new here.

I've paid some extra money to be an early adopter, but so what? I've been enjoying the best smartphone on the market for months, while these people have been using something inferior. I also helped Palm and Sprint make this possible, which will drive interest and promote growth of the App Store, which makes my phone even better. It's all worth it in the end.

Hey the more people that have the pre, the better. There'll be more developers, and more customers, meaning more apps for lesser prices.

As long as that app catalogue comes soon, I have no problem whatsoever. I knew that when the Pre first came out, if the WebOS was in it, I would buy it at any price. Anything to prove to the Apple c**ts that they don't control everything. The price cut, the multitude of programmers, and the ease of functions, along with this phone able to convert to Sprint's 4G (as if it wasn't fast enough) make this the best deal ever.

Who cares if Big Red gets the Pre. they could never match to Sprint's "Simply Everything" plan...NEVER. Haha, all I pay after taxes is just $127..that's it. An internet card and monthly payments are $40 a month. Oh I forgot, haha, my phone is tethered. I guess I am now just paying $80 a value of month even though technically it's 127. I forgot that my GPS came straight out of the box which ATnT can't compete and I have a tracker program. You knowwww.....forget about it. Complain if you want, but I'm on cloud 9.Now, I'll just mail in my rebate and put some more dough in the bank. Happy Pre'ng everyone and, "Long live Homebrew"

    Your happy anti-Apple warrior,
    Nofiguru
P.S. Awww sheeeeet, I forgot about our new virtual keyboard, app catalogue, and video recorder that's coming soon. Hey Apple, "Suck Balls"!!!

Palm made their money when they sold the distributors the phones. It's up to the distributors to sell the phones. They can "technically" sell it at whatever price they want, as long as it's approved by Palm and maybe Sprint, not too sure on that Sprint part, though.

It is probably due to sprint trying to get as many subscribers locked in before Verizon gets the pre in January. Sprint is willing to spend $100 to get those customers.

It has nothing to do with the "value" of the phone, or even how well it is selling. Sprint is making a calculation about whether they could sell more phones if they cost $100 less, and whether it is worth that discount to get those extra customers.
