I have never taken a flu vaccine in 46 years and I do not intend to start now. In the past I had flu like symptoms and have been around people who have had the flu as well. My beliefs are when you get the flu and recover from it, your immune system should be able to recognized it and fight the virus easily the second time around, depending if it is the same flu. I do believe once you are around individuals with contagious diseases you are more likely to contract their disease. Researching the immune system I found a person who has a healthy immune system should be able to fight the flu and become immune to it. Recently my doctor told me I am immune to Hepatitis A. He said I either contracted it years ago or was around an individual who had Hepatitis A and I had built immunity against it. In my lifetime I have never been hospitalized for any illness.
Last year my 24 year old daughter planned on vacationing in a topical country and wanted to take the Hepatitis A vaccine. I advised her to first check and see if she too was immune to Hepatitis A. She took the blood test and her results showed she was indeed immune. In my opinion our immune system is able to fight off most viruses and we should try not to relying on vaccines as often. This is my view.
