I have to concur on the Vanilla Pastry Studio comments. Dozen cupcakes are good if you like the creamy toppings. The cupcakes themselves are typically very dry. CoCo's is not anything special. The best by far are cupcakes made by Vanilla Pastry Studio. These cakes literally melt in your mouth and give you a special feeling inside. I actually get goosebumps just thinking about them! Yummy!!

The cupcakes at Vanilla Pastry Studio are vastly superior to Coco's and Dozen. Dozen has higher visibility (multiple locations + great marketing), but their products pale by comparison.

Vanilla Pastry Studio would be the clear winner here if more people knew about it. Dozen's quality has gone down over time, and their cakes are just too dry and stale seeming. Coco's isn't a good value because they are too small (and were actually dry and stale seeming last time I went there.) Vanilla is the best of both worlds... only better! And their decor is amazing!

Is it still possible that Pittsburgers do not know the best cupcakes are at Vanilla Pastry Studio?

Vanilla Pastry Studio is absolutely amazing. I love everything I've tasted, but my favorites include the Concord Grape Cupcake and Applesauce Cupcake.

The only thing CoCo's and Dozen has on Vanilla Pastry Studio is location, location and location......Best kept cupcake secret in the northeast and well worth the search and one way streets to find it but hey it's Pittsburgh. Nobody does it better!

Not only are the cupcakes better at Dozen, the service is as well.

I bought a dozen cupcakes at CoCo's -- once. I felt terrible for the poor girl behind the counter. CoCo's had absolutely NO packing materials for their cupcakes. I spent $25 (or whatever it is) on cupcakes that were packaged in bags and tissue paper. They were a mess by the time I got them home. I also tried to order some variety of a bottled drink and they had absolutely nothing. Maybe it was a bad day, but I can't imagine being out of EVERYTHING or packaging a dozen cupcakes in such a hapless manner.

CoCo's cupcakes are okay, but they are a little dry. They also seem slightly smaller than Dozen's cupcakes if I recall correctly.

Dozen is the place to go for an amazing cupcake AND service. The people are always friendly and I've never had any issues there.

Dozen also stocks pupcakes, where as CoCo's website advertises them but rarely has them.
