The animals don't care about stupid nationalistic laws and traditions. They don't want tyrannical cultures and traditions forced upon them. Ban seal meat and send violators and resistors to this law to prison for life.

Those who wish to eat seal meat - or any meat - unless they are a prisoner who is forced to with no choice or has a rare medical condition - should be forced to die for their stupid selfish cause, if it is so important to them.
Back in the 1960s, pro-war activists actually believed that hippies - who were hurting nobody, who were forcing nothing on anybody - should be forced to go to war - that means to be killed - just for the right to exist in the first place. It logically follows that anyone who wants to murder highly sentient animals just because they like the taste of their flesh deserves to go to war and be killed while fighting for this stupid unnecessary cause of theirs.
I expect MPs will make a big show of ordering seal flesh from the menu, then when the photo-ops are over, it will fade into the background and supply will outweigh demand and it will be quietly removed from the menu. The addition of seal meat was, after all, merely a PR event.

This really shows what our government is made of insensitive low life who pretends to care about the enviroment and the people of Canada. We all know the reason they condon the killing of seals.

This is such a violent act! We should be protecting all animals at all cost instead of taking away their rights to live. Seals should be protected not eaten for our own pleasure.

Culture and tradition are not excuses for cruelty. We are moving towards a more compassionate society as people realize the cruelty of such acts as seal slaughter which is inhumane, even though they claim on paper that they are killed humanely. Also, eating a vegetarian diet would result in less strain on the health care system, due to lower rates of disease, and would free up enough grain to eliminate world poverty.

The parliamentary restaurant should be open to all of us "ordinary" Canadians who may visit occasionally and are not part of the Ottawa bourgeoisie. Restricted access reeks of colonialism and entitlement. How can this be justified for an institution we pay for with taxes?

The seal meat is delicious !!! I miss it so much and wishing we can sell it all over the grocery stores in the South. I love it cooked with a little bit of mustard and pickles . My mouth is watering just hoping to have this delicious meal when I go to visit our MP
