We are not using God's name in vain or using His name without a purpose. Do not be judgmental my friend.
If you would only analyze the outcome of discussions, most participants on this blog are brethren belongs to a different denominations (ie. evangelical, pentecoastal, JIL, etc.) that started discussions something like this.. why Villanueva being a pastor chooses to run for president. Hence, we have different perspectives or just a minor differences when it comes to a pastor running for a position like this though we all belong to the same body of Christ. So, don't be surprised of Villanueva's supporters' replies.
Even on television interviews, TV hosts frequently centered queries on spiritual matters to questioned Villanueva for running because they know the candidate is a pastor.
Besides, God-fearing candidate is very essential in leadership, and without this the candidate will never succeed. History repeats itself.

During one of my org’s events, one speaker gave a talk which he started by asking, “If your life were a coin, who will spend you?”
That question really got me thinking…
For the coming elections this May 2010, I can only vote for one president. Who will have my vote? Shall I spend it on the popular one, the rich one, or the experienced one? Oh well, the Filipino voter actually has more choices than those. There are about 12 “presidentiables” considered for the 2010 polls. With all these choices, who gets to have my vote? Well, I choose the one who is not only honest, not only competent, but he has the courage to really overhaul our country and effectively bring it to its full potential. The drive for real change in our country can only be done by somebody who has the will to fight all the obstacles that were set in the way.
I am voting for Brother Eddie Villanueva.

Inexperienced? Nah..this man actually has more experience than you think. Pastoring a church is NOT an easy job. I am leading a small group and it was never an easy job, what more pastoring a whole church! and the largest one (in the Philippines) at that! I believe only a man who has had a deep revelation of God’s love can grow a church of 16 members to millions. And the Philippines truly needs a leader like that, yung hindi nagkukunwaring nagdadasal daw pero lantaran namang nagungurakot. And I’m not just talking about a religious kind of church but the kind of church where the members really grow and become leaders themselves..
Okey…let’s set aside all the “churchy” stuff for all the “non-churchy” people out there. Bro. Eddie was a radical student leader during his student days at PUP. He graduated at PUP and became a professor there. He donated all his honorarium as a professor to the scholarship fund. He used to study Law at UP but was not able to finish it because he became a political prisoner during the martial law. So this man is not “walang alam”. Marami siyang alam kaso di nga lang alam ng nakararami. I myself thought before that he is just another disturbed man. But when I met him, my impression of him really changed and I said to myself, this man should lead our country. He’s the bomb.
This man’s convictions are really amazing. Even after having lost the presidency in 2004, he courageously refused offers giving him the moon and the stars just so that he will not seek the presidency anymore. Talk about complete trust in the Lord and His Word. Ask him any question about what he plans to do for the country and he’ll give you a detailed and specific description of his plan of action. Truly a man of vision and action, that is a non-negotiable for a president, especially for someone who will succeed a “rotting” (forgive me for the word) regime.
Truly, when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. I really pray that the rest of the Philippines will run with this vision. REVIVAL!!!

It's so happened that comment posted by the opponent begins with negative spiritual insights about him. Therefore, don’t be surprised with the supporters' replies and to the outcome of this discussion because we know that the candidate is a Pastor.
Also, being popular does not guarantee a candidate for a win. That perception has no strong foundation on its own.

I had been observing, looking, seeking and carefully watching since the COC filing of this presidentiables.And so far as far as I can see in my most simplest thinking since I am just a simple Filipino all of the candidates are all smart but, there is only one thing I am considering and that is the lifestyle of this candidates.My basis of choice is not religion nor being intelligent bcoz we had been led by intelligent leaders and what happen to these leaders they intelligently having fun for themselves instead of giving example of righteous lifestyle. i agree that a leader must be God fearing... however, what can a God fearing president do for the country if he only has little background on politics and on being a gov't official? be realistic my fellow Filipinos... we need a person who has great leadership skills and wise decision making... in short an intelligent person... we only get one vote for the person who may even make history... if you have watched some presidential forums, maybe you'll get an idea who i'm talking about... we cannot judge someone as distrustful just because he's under the current corrupt administration...
