Sending automatic tweets is useful way of getting your name out there and giving people a chance to see your blog post if they had missed a previous tweet, but don't overdue the number of tweets that you automatically sent about the same topic (for example a link to you blog post), as it is sometimes like spam.
I think Twitter is all about relationships. Automation is such a social turnoff!
