Would you pay for Wi-Fi in an RV park to have better service?

If you REALLY need to be connected, you need all three ways. Satellite, cellular and WiFi. A good WiFi installation with a fast connection to the Internet is going to be the best. I will pay for that even if I have good cell data.
Good WiFi installations are few and far between. The technology was never designed to do RV parks.

We carry a couple of laptops with us to use for e-mail, Internet commerce, navigation, checking fuel prices, etc. We used to look for campgrounds with Internet access [usually unreliable or weak] but found that wasn't enough. Sometimes we'd end up driving our toad around shopping centers looking for wireless access we could get on. None of that really worked, especially since we couldn't use it on the road as we drove. We got a wireless access card from Verizon in 2007 and that has really solved the problem! Just don't use it in Canada!! It will work in many places but the extra fees will eat you alive.

I had a WI-FI card at home so I could be wireless and then used it at various restaurants and campgrounds that offered free WI-FI. I never had a very good results with this(way too slow even if I could get connected.) When I got my RV, I cancelled my cable at home and got a Mobile Broadband Modem and I can now access where ever I am and at about the same speed as my cable service was, and the cost per month is about the same. I now have a secure connection for doing my banking.

Most of the time when we travel, we look for free wifi, but recently I picked up an aircard and I am still learning how to use it. My husband likes to answer his e-mails, staying in touch with friends and sometimes does surveys. I usually use the internet to answer e-mails, let family and friends know how we are doing (especially if he is in the hospital), conduct business on-line (paying bills thru our bank, checking credit cards, sometimes shopping, etc) or locating our next stop for the night. We just started RVing last year and before that we used military lodging (if possible) to save money. Most of the military lodges and some hotels have you pay for the internet but there are times when even with an 800 techical service number, your credit card gets charged and you still cannot access the internet. Then you have to fight with some credit card companies about getting a credit and getting it verified with the internet provider (even after filing a report and getting a complaint number). I would prefer to utilize RV parks or hotels or resturants with free wifi. If I have problems getting on-line, I can just disconnect and go somewhere else. Starbucks had you purchase a card from them to access the internet and that is ok.
