This is an interesting poll, and even more interesting result. Respectfully, I really think that factors beyond advanced industry merit consideration. How people live, their values, their votes, their communities, their social disposition--all these things count as metrics to determine how advanced or 'futuristic' any one state can be regarded.
How do diverse groups work together? How do cities define their own priorities of renewable living, social justice, vertical markets, and educational spectra?
Texas may have many tech-based revenue generators, but California, Washington, New York, Oregon, even New Mexico all have pedigrees forged from diversity and tuned toward a future that is almost indistinguishable from science fiction.
