Should the tea party movement support the Arizona immigration bill?

The "Tea Parties" really need to stay on topic of financial reform. I believe in controling the boarders. But, if the Tea Party gets into to many issues the message becomes weaker on all topics. Here in Dayton, Ohio. I would like to back the Tea Party canidate, but, she recently made a statement in the paper that businesses should have the right to hire, fire anyone they like and should be able to refuse service to anyone even if its because they are black. I was with her till the refuse service statement. She needs to leave the Tea Party and go back to her clan meeting.

My main concern about supporting this bill is the way it was written. However, I do support Arizona for it taking what is the Fed Gov't job into their own hands. They really didn't have a choice.

THIS IS A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ISSUE AND PLEASE MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT!! JAN BREWER AND THE REST OF US IN ARIZONA WERE FORCED TO CREATE THIS LEGISLATION TO FORCE THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BORDER PROBLEMS. WE NEED TO BE INVOLVED TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD BY OBAMA AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. JAN BREWER HAD THE GUTS TO SIGN THE LEGISLATION - WE NEED TO BACK HER UP ON IT AS RIGHT NOW, SHE IS BEING RUN OVER BY THE LIKES OF LA RAZA AND THAT FRICKEN RACIST IDIOT AL SHARPTON.

Absolutely the number one reason America is in the shape it is today is because of years of unchecked illegal immigration! Ohio needs to step up its immigration reform too.

  • Steve - 14 years ago

This is a perfect situation to show not only that the far left is incompetent, but that states' rights are fundamental and necessary. The Fed won't take care of citizens and states' problems until it’s in their best interests. If the states must depend on the Fed, citizens are lost. States are the only ones who can protect personal property and life. They are not only fundamental to the Constitution, they are necessary to live as free and safe citizens. The idea that the Fed won’t even protect its own borders, but it now doesn’t want the state to do it for them has to be made to the public and Tea is essential in bringing this message.

We are temporarily stuck with a government that says "immigration is our job", but refuses to do it. Like local police who can't or won't protect citizens but doesn't like it when citizens protect themselves, we as Americans need to start doing what's right for us, not what is right for Obama and his minions. How DARE the Federal government come along after they have refused to act and demand that people put their lives and property on the line until, when and if Obama wants to do his job.

With the name Tea Party, (relating to taxes) one might think immigration to be 'outside the scope' '....HOWEVER...the Tea Party has become representative of concerned American Citizens fighting for our constitutional rights and liberties, for keeping big gov't at bay. So then.... being a full scale project of Liberty First PAC, the first official federal Political Action Committee organized by Tea Party Organizers and Activists, WE HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE!..as well as any other issue that affects our rights and liberties! so..LET'S GET ON WITH IT!...and show the 'problem children' in DC and the rest of this country that we will not stop at just one issue - taxes-...but we will fight for any and all issues that threaten our constitutional rights and liberties! my donation is on it's way..with the hope that it goes to the immigration issue!

  • Wm Gilroy - 14 years ago

I have to agree with Mr. Odom.
The Arizona Tea party should stand up and make its voice heard on this issue in Arizona. The Other Tea Party organizations in states most concerned about immigration (agreed it should be all of them) should be fighting off Washington.
If other states rise up with Arizona and initiate immigration enforcement with in there own states there will be too many targets for the likes of those demagogues already picking on Arizona.

  • Doc - 14 years ago

If we are for the Tenth Amendment, we have to be involved in what goes on in the states. Further, more most of the illegal aliens that entered Arizona, I understand, exited into the other 49 states.

  • AmericanCitizenFirst - 14 years ago

In an ideal United States, the federal government would have stepped up to the plate back in the 1960's and actively enforced border security, when illegals began pouring into our country in increasing numbers. Clearly, the current federal administration's overt refusal to strictly enforce our federal immigration laws has deteriorated to an issue of political expediency. I am an American citizen (who happens to be of hispanic origin) whose relatives have lived in the United States for many generations. Our family supports Arizona Governor Brewer and Sheriff Arpaio 100 percent. As a direct result of the irresponsible actions of this present Federal administration, our country is deteriorating rapidly economically. Having a job is a precious commodity. To see illegals taking jobs meant for American citizens; to see illegals marching in our state demanding "rights" that only American citizens can have; school districts and hospitals overburdened and breaking financially because illegals are taking advantage of unenforced federal law, is heart breaking. Increasing crime, murders, violence, home invasions, executions, kidnappings, drug runners; the untold ongoing major environmental destruction of our national parks and Native American homelands, and privately owned American ranch lands from the drug trails and illegals dumping literally tons of trash and waste along the way, are now sadly part and parcel of our state of Arizona. We have the highest identity theft rate in the country due to illegals producting and selling counterfeit documents to illegals, using stolen identification from American citizens. Arizona has every right to defend itself against this criminal activity. Make no mistake, despite the media propaganda, Arizona's new Immigration law is absolutely legally enforceable and other border states, such as Texas and Florida, having been "thrown under the bus of American civil rights" by the Fed's blatant agenda of "amnesty for new Democrat Party votes", are taking notice to enact the same immigration law in their state. It is high time this Federal administration sees that the American citizens of each Sovereign State of the United States has every constitutional right to defend itself against tyranny in any form. Come election time, congressional incumbents will continue to face American voters. We will defend our constitutional right as American citizens to exist in peace and economic security, without unconstitutional federal mandates such as health care and taxes enslaving us along with future generations. We will not allow this present administration to race bait us, to attempt to "divide and conquer" us by color, ethnicity or race. We are all voting American citizens, we are fed up, and we are not going to take it anymore!

Thank You Gov. Brewer for Protecting the People of AZ, and Not Bowing to Outside Pressure. Now If Obama will just do the Same! The people who are against this, are for the most part, trying to get votes from the Illegals & their Families. The do not Live in AZ. and do not have to deal with all the Crime & Cost of the Illegals. Mexico complains about this New Law, but There laws are far worse on the matter. I am boycotting Mexico & all others who complain about our Laws.

    Hi Fellow Patriots,

illegal Immigration was a problem that has turned into a serious crisis. Since the first, last and only amnesty of 1986 (signed by Reagan) there have been 7 more. In 1986 there were 3.4 million illegals in the country. Now if you talk to former ICE agents and other who are in the know we have 12 million to 20 million plus. These illegals are now have more children per year than the total number of illegals given amnesty in 1986!!!!

In 2004 - 2005 the illegals were sending 43 Billion dollars out of this country! That equates to jobs. So they are taking jobs away form Americans and are shipping jobs out of the country by siphoning money off the economy.
In the mean while identity thief has sky rocketed. This is a crime which was not even on the radar screen in 1986. Now it is a major crime in terms of numbers and dollars.

The American Legion indicated in thier first edition Policy on illegal immigration, as supported by other researchers, and also a study by Congressman King, that illegals are killing about 25 citizens a day. Half are a result of crime, most of the others are from driving accidents involving drunk or high illegals. Since 9/11/01 over 78,000
Americans have been killed. That is 16 times the number of our citizens killed in the 9-11 terrorist attacks. We went to war over 9-11 and toppled a government. We have not even shut down our borders to stop this slaughter.

This problem impacts every facet of American life and culture. Hospitals are going into bankruptcy and shutting down.We are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to educate them, some states, like Kansas, force the taxpayers to help pay for their college education even of taxpayers who cannot afford to send their own kids to college. One third of those in federal prison are now "criminal aliens" non-citizens. They are voting and making a difference in state and federal elections.

One of the respondents to this question says we have to be careful because we might be call a "R" (we are big boys and girls we can say words like RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!. The use of political correctness as a means of social engineering must stop as well.) Terrorism is now called man made disasters and terrorist are call people who do not play well with others. Standing up for what is right, for the rule of law, for ones country and one's family used to be called being a patriot and a good American. Now some want to cal it racist! well I don't care what you call it. If you call being a patriot and good American cannibals them I am a cannibal.

Yes we need to be in this issue with both feet. It is but one symptom of the problem we are really fighting, the loss of control over our country.

As a patriot and libertarian, I beleive the government, state and federal, should limit the exercise of its powers as much as possible. Additionally I believe the federal government should stick to doing those few things the constitution permits and doing them well. These federal responsibilities include national defense and immigration. We ought to focus on limiting the federal government's powers and holding them to account where they have failed to properly exercise those few responsiblities granted them in the constitution. The Arizona law, while well intentioned, will likely serve to shift some of the focus of immigration enforcement from the federal government to the states. Voters may begin to look to their states to enforce these laws, rather than voting out federal officials who fail in this responsibility. I think AZ may succeed in stemming some of their illegal immigrant problem with this law, but the long term consequence may be that federal officials continue to ignore their responsibilities while illegal immigrants simply move to states without such laws. Immigration is properly a national issue and we must hold the national government to account, rather than doing their job for them.

  • Jane from TX - 14 years ago

This is about more than immigration. It is about states' right vs the federal government and the US constitution. Since when do we have to ask the fed if illegal means NOT Legal? The TEA Party needs to stay focused but can hardly ignore such a blatant disrespect for American citizens who have the right to protect themselves and their property.

  • Gigi - 14 years ago

Absolutely - American Citizenship must be protected. When the Fed tramps on the states, it's an issue we should get involved with. When the Feds ignore its citizenship and wants to claim by enforcing the laws of the land is unconstitutional after passing a truly unconstitutional power grab in healthcare, we must fight back! I'm so sick of this government disregard for our principals.

  • Larry - 14 years ago

Florida started a similar program about a year ago, and the crime rate has really dropped. Washington politicians can't handle federal problems, they should keep their noses out of state issues. Obama thinks he is the Saviour, well I have news for him - ALL HE KNOWS HOW TO DO IS LIE, LIE, LIE.

  • Sharron Robinson - 14 years ago

John McCain has to go. He is having a slobbering love affair with Obama. On this side of the fence today, on the other side of the fence tomorrow. Last year he favored AMNESTY for all, this year since he is getting his A__ kicked he is siding with Arizona. He is unworthy of the office he holds. And also the senator(??) who told the press that all Conferences , tourism, etc. should be canceled for Arizona. This statement I believe is TREASON for an elected official of the state of Arizona to start a call for its downfall. Maybe we should "bulls-eye" him for the November elections.

  • Kathy Hughes - 14 years ago

We definitely should be involved in the immigration issue. I would like to see every state pass the same law that AZ passed. The TEA PARTY movement is about protecting our freedom; it isn't just about being over taxed.

So many people have the idea that the U.S. Constitution is supposed to protect anyone who steps across the border. The Constitution protects American citizens, and this law will help us do just that.

  • Eric Nelson - 14 years ago

I live in Palominas,Arizona. It's in Cochise County and we're right on the Mexican border. All the bleeding heart liberals should take their next vacation down here. It's a whole new world. They could stand in front of their RV's and explain to all the drug runners how they're in favor of gun control.
But I don't think that the Tea Party should become directly involved with it They're bigger fish to fry. Get rid of all these asinine politicians.

  • Ron - 14 years ago

I am proud and commend the Gov of AZ for taking stand, and if asked to help defend their borders I would step up,
We are americans, and neighbors and must work together to pull this country back together again, but only if asked to. However I hope California, and texas consider the same type of Action. This issue is about protecting "American Civial Rights" "Leagal Citizens".

We need to oppose this administration's efforts to infringe on the right's of the individual at every step, at every junction, on every bill. The one truth this regime has shown, is that its thirst for power is relentless and insatiable. We cannot afford give an inch. We cannot compromise with an administration that has no respect for the rule of law. Illegal immigration is an issue that drives straight to the heart of health care cost increases, welfare expenditures, as well as the safety and security of each individual citizen. The current battlefield may reside in Arizona, but the impact of this fight has national implications.

As a Native American Indian from Oklahoma, I am downhearted that I have not seen any positing supporting Arizona's decision against illegal immigration into their state. I believe we could derive some well-intended support from the Native Americans if anyone is listening. OKLAHOMA where are you????????

  • Shopper - 14 years ago

We stand for what is right, not for what is politically expedient. What do you think is wrong with the government now? Political expedience! Both major Parties are courting the Latino vote, as is our President, which is why they want to avoid enforcement of their own laws!
The focus of our involvement, however, should not be Immigration itself, but the sanctity of States' Rights and ultimately individual rights. Even within this movement, people can disagree on the administration of current Federal Immigration law. But what we should stand tall onas a movement is that the Federal Government is not doing its job and the States and their citizens have the right to protect themselves in the absense of Federal protection.
Until (and if) we can reclaim our Congress and up until the Federal Courts are packed with Progressive anti-Americans, we must support States' Rights for the States are our best last hope.

  • Debbie - 14 years ago

Governor Perry you need to get on board with AZ. Yes, the Tea Party should get involved this is an issue that the Big Brother Government of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama will use to get the sympathy vote of the illegal’s they will give amnesty to. The laws are already on the books, and if anyone has gone accross the border the question of are you a citizen is asked and so is the request to show your papers. It is a law that if a US citizen does not carry ID on them they also can be arrested as a Non Resident Alien untill they can prove citizenship. This law has been on the books for years just not enforced by local police because they are busy with chasing down other violent criminals and do not have the man power or budget to arrest for being here illegally. But we do need to reinforce both on the state level and the government level the laws that are already there. AZ is not changing anything other then putting resources on a very very big problem. Living in TEXAS but coming from NY I can understand the need for resources to support the law to of immigration. There is no Ellis Island or Hudson river seperating Mexico and the US.

  • M - 14 years ago

    Folks,

The problem with the Feds staying out of it is that the Constitution and the Federalist Papers stipulate that immigration policy is a Federal issue. Yes, the Feds have blown it, but for them to stay out of it would be to shirk their Constitutional responsibility even more.

  • Jeanne - 14 years ago

STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES BUT NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME! I don't care one small bit what the progressives and socialists call me! I know who and what I am. The illegal immigration should be at the top of our list to support! If we let them get away with granting citizen's rights to these "ILLEGAL" people, THEY WILL BACK THE POLITICAL ELITISTS THAT ARE TRYING TO TAKE OVER THIS COUNTRY.

That is one of the MAIN reasons we should back the LAWS (the FEDERAL law and the ARIZONA both - because they are one in the SAME). The second reason is because I AM SICK AND TIRED OF PAYING FOR CRIMINALS THROUGHT EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, HOUSING, ETC. ETC. ETC. Hey politicians the money we SAVE by sending all illegal immigrants back could REDUCE THE DEBT quite considerably!

I think we should all send ten dollars to the Arizone State Treasurer to show our support and to mitigate any effects of the threaten boycotts and should botycott those entities that are boycotting Arizona

  • M - 14 years ago

    No! No! No! No! No!

If we engage in this we will lose focus on the thing that is driving opposition to the democratic majority in Congress and the White House. Limited, Constitutional government and sound fiscal policy has been and should remain our focus. If we move down this path we will lose power. Guaranteed.

  • Jeff - 14 years ago

Well, let's see. If the frickin Federal Govenrment would do the job we are paying it to do; protect our borders, states wouldn't have to take the lead and double dip into the pockets of citizens, like those in Arizona, to protect THEIR rights. I have said for a while, now, that the Liberal philosophy is a parasitic way to live. (glad to see Eric Odom say it in his email) And that they are killing the host by their irresponsible policies. What will they do when the host is dead? Not to worry! Socialism/Communism has a remedy for that, too.

  • Gil Gilbert - 14 years ago

Imigration has been the blood line of America, legal imigration that is. ILLEGALS break the law, gravitate to
social gifts supplied by liberal govt. services. Greater cost of health care for Citizens and those traveling
the LEGAL road to citizenship, depletion of govt. funds which should be available to our own American
Citizens who have previously filled the coffers now approaching the negative side of zero balance. We
are educating their children, we supply educational funding that the young American student does not
have access to. Citizens are robbed, raped, beaten, terrorized, kidnapped by those that should not be
here. Illegals help drug cartels bring in the very materials that continue to destroy lives. Why should we
support illegal imigration? That is what we are doing by looking the other way and bending to the will of
the Mexican Govt., illegal aliens, liberals looking foreword to eventually legalizing the illegals for a better
    Democrat voting base.
Now of course if you see no value in our country and what it stands for, what people have had to go through
in the past to become an American Citizen, enabling the current social situation to continue and worsen,
then perhaps you should think about making a move, BECAUSE I AM NOT READY TO GIVE UP.

I agree that this is essentially an Arizona issue, and the feds should stay out of it. Let Arizona decide what is best for Arizona.

  • Debra - 14 years ago

I have no problem with people coming to this country and bringing their culture and adding to this countries freedom and well being. Cominig over Illegally is the first in many law breaking issues. Like most of the world with
corupt governments the haven for folks has been the good old USA. We use to have a lot to offer to everyone but things have gotten out of hand and we need to stop take a breath and revamp our situation. Big Government is not the answer as we all have seen. The present adminstration's goal is to bankrupt this country and make it all
a welfare openended struggling country with nothing to offer its citizens. We have done a lot for Mexico and Mexico has done nothing for us. The position of the Government is to provide Military security to our borders. If OBAMA wants to creat jobs, increasse the budget and staff for immigration to process folks who want to come in legally with good intentions, not to allow the drug dealers safe haven of crossing back and forth based on which policing authority is chasing them. The kidnapping and human traffing should be enough for this adminstration and future adminstration to secure the borders. Legalize Pot and tax mexico for the import of the product just like europe VAT TAXes other countries. OH By the way no more W8 tax certification exempting Mexican investors from paying withholding tax on investment in this country that we allow them to hide from their government enabling drug deals to invest their money tax free from the US and from Mexico. There is a lot behind the scense that most americans are unaware of. Let the Adminstration take a look at the tax treaties for investments.

I agree with the legislation that Arizona passed and as a "patriot" of this great country, I strongly encourage other tea party participants to endorse this bill. While endorsing this bill, we should also encourage the correct enforcement of this legislation. Despite the fact that illegal aliens have no guaranteed civil rights in this country, we are still humans and need to have compassion and pray that our law officials do their jobs correctly.

I do agree that we have to protect our country and I applaud the AZ governor for stepping up and signing this bill, giving teeth to already existing federal legislation regarding border protection.

  • Patriot - 14 years ago

    We have not other choice.

I received a call from the NRA during the Healthcare fight. I passionately told them that all available funds were going to the healthcare battle. They replied that they understood but healthcare was not their fight. I beg to differ, we should all be in the battle together against big labor, healthcare, amenesty, and defending the attacks against the Bill of Rights.

As Benjamin Franklin said, "We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."

  • kim - 14 years ago

I believe this is a very important issue too, but the main goal of the Tea Party movement, and it's main strength, is the fight against Big Government and Big Government spending, though our agenda is a conservative one to be sure...In addition, this will just fuel the inevitable cries of "Racism" against the Tea Party Movement

  • Jake - 14 years ago

Not right now. Arizona is doing a fine job on it's own. Let the left paint itself into a corner & end up with egg on it's face when the implementation of the law turns out to be fairly innocuous. We can get involved later if necessary. I like the idea of giving AZ government moral support individually!

  • Nancy - 14 years ago

We need to be sure that the non-citizens are not voting! And make it clear that they can all demonstrate as much as they want, but if they are not citizens yawn, who cares???

This message should be sent to the Senate and Congress too!! Better listen to the VOTING CITIZENS!

  • worthfightingfor@gmail.com - 14 years ago

Don't get me wrong. I do beliieve the illegal immigration issue is of extreme importance, but I believe that we can be undert the umbrella of another group (groups) focused on that area, The Tea Party must focue on ITS' original stance.By bringing the illegal immigration issue into the mix , the Tea Party will be attacked for being racist and unfortunately probably a successful attack.
Again, I am for go after illegal immigration but through other organizations.

  • Claudette - 14 years ago

We need to give the illegal immigration problem a lot of thought before we support it. If we get involved in this, we will be called racists and allienate the illegals already here. If they are given amnesty and become citizens the Democrats could get millions of votes in the coming elections. Some conservative leaders have suggested the laws already on the books need to be enforced such as holding companies accountable for hiring illegals as well as enforcing the borders.

I also feel that if we get involved in this issue, future rallies will be confronted by more angry protestors and the Dems and the media will play it up and there is a possibility of violence which could also marginalize the tea parties if the media blames any violence on us.

Since our government needs to accept some of the responsibility for allowing this problem to continue without enforcing the laws, I feel the illegals already here should be given guest worker privileges but not amnesty and then strongly enforce the border and send any future illegals back to Mexico

Should the tea party movement support the Arizona Immigration bill? I'm still not sure but if we do, I think it should be supported by ALL the tea parties. There may be too many different views on this problem.

Take down the bird feeders, and kick the damn parasites out of the country once and for all. The federal government has done the American people a great wrong here in failing to protect our own borders from this invasive group of law breakers. They should be rounded up, charged with the federal offense they have commmitted so they can never come in the states again, and shipped back to Fox's home town.
They brag about taking back America "without firing a shot". We need to show them they are wrong.

Illegal immigration is indeed a Tea Party issue! Illegals pay no taxes, take government services, use our judicial system and other public conveyances. They change property values, affect public school and hospital planning -- all at a cost to taxpayers! I have nothing against legal immigrants, people who work AND pay taxes, and those here for work on a visa or work permit. They help our economy and represent the tradtions on America. Illegals are illegal! What doesn't Washington get? Being Mexican or Hispanic isn't the point -- only Democrats bring race into it, to play the race card, but also to pander for Latino votes! Part of the Tea Party Revolt should be about the grand traditions of America that our Founders envisioned and codified -- work, abide by the law, pay taxes and civic responsibility.

I think we should not spread ourselves too thin also. They will just slam the TP for anything they can. I think we can let AZ politicians know that we support them but it is not worth our money or marching. Let them fight it out....they will drag us into the violence of it all. I think we can make some very intelligent statements like trying to work out a deal with Mexico. Our immigration policies should match theirs. Only make very objective and intelligent public statements of solution - not taking side.

  • nmooney - 14 years ago

Once again, it is apparent. Nobody reads! This includes Congressmen and Obama who blasted the new AZ law without understanding its content. Referrals to swastikas, Nazis, boycotts are absurd.
I agree with many commentators that moral support for AZ is prudent, (maybe added tourism for future Tea meetings?), we must keep our focus on the Nov elections.
On another note, can we get a survey of legal Hispanic voters of their views of the new law and where they stand on illegal immigration? I heard 60% of AZ Hispanics supported the bill but if true it is not being advertised as strongly as it should.

I vote yes, I believe illegal immigration should be part of our platform. We are fighting for the Constitution, we are for less Federal government and more States rights. This is exactly what this is. The Federal government is trying to overturn the State government. The only job the Federal government has is to protect our borders, it will not doing it. We are for law and order, illegal immigration is NOT LAWFUL nor is it orderly. We are trying to make government be fiscally responsible, but the states have to pay for illegal entitlements, medical and education, which it should not be a State's responsibility.
Obama wants to make all illegals legal, because he knows he needs the hispanic vote. He is using these illegal aliens for votes and to bankrupt America, he doesn't give a rats a-- about the hispanic people. He is causing a race war and the illegal immigrants are falling for his trap. They are helping Obama detroy America, and then America will be a 3rd world country just like Mexico, and then we will all be in a Mexico-like country, just like the illegals were trying to get away from.
We have to try to save our country, hopefully it is not to late.

Texas is to only State that fought and won independence from Mexico. We kicked their butts royally. Texas is a Republic within it's own borders. The rest of the southwest was purchased and populated by citizens of this country. If you like the way Mexico is so much, why don't you just Let us help you pack? But it is obvious that you want a portion of the U.S. to become just like Mexico. Are you so ignorant as to believe that victory by La Raza would make life better for anyone. To the contrary, it would impose on the citizens of those four states the same horrors that Mexico is currently being beat up by. Shame on you for being so uneducated on this subject and unpatriotic to the greatest country the world has ever known are will ever know. Crawl back into your getto and be quiet. But, to give you some credit, you are a very student of the Marxist idiots that is currently running this country into the ground.

Please email your local paper to ask them to report the things America cars about. Over 70% of the America population supports AZ's new law. The media is just not reporting the support; they are siding with illegals on this issue.

    Facts:
The net annual cost of immigration in 2006 has been estimated at between $67 and $87 billion a year. The National Academy of Sciences found that the net fiscal drain on American taxpayers is between $166 and $226 a year per native household. Even studies claiming some modest overall gain for the economy from immigration ($1 to $10 billion a year) have found that it is outweighed by the fiscal cost ($15 to $20 billion a year) to native taxpayers.

In October 2008, the illegal immigrant population stood at 11.9 million according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

here are approximately 7.7 million illegal aliens employed in U.S. jobs in 2008.

A 1997 study by the American Academy of Sciences found that the cheap labor of illegal immigrants and poor immigrants caused a 44% decrease in wages among the poorest Americans from 1980 to 1994.

Amnesty for illegal immigrants will cause costs to increase significantly from $10.4 billion a year to $28.8 billion. This is because an amnesty program would transform an illegal immigrant to an "unskilled immigrant with legal status" who could access various government programs. However, due to low income, these "unskilled immigrants with legal status" would likely make very modest tax payments.

I was hoping (against hope) this issue would not come up this year-- with so many economic crises to deal with -- but am afraid it will be ramped up by Obama. The President is desperate for votes and wants to distract us from the economy and jobs as much as possible. This issue is "toxic", but he and the dems are running scared for votes from any source they can. With absolutely nothing to lose, the vote machine potential in the balance, they plan to go for it. It is another issue where the Federal failures to carry out Federallly-enumerated responsibilities have fallen heavily on the States. Arizona has hit a sensitive nerve with me, and I think the American citizenry is enthusiastic to simply have the Feds enforce the law, for God's sake. I agree with many of the comments made above. Washington just doesn't seem to get it!!!! Perhaps we need to champion a common protocol for driver's licenses among all 50 states. Very simple: When you get a license you have to produce one or more of the following documents: a, b, c, d, or e. Your license contains a picture that is tamper-proof, and includes a fingerprint on the back; it will be mailed to your home address within ten days; and so on. Whatever the requirement turns out to be. That would be reasonably easy to do, and would make it harder for forgeries and the like. Progress has been made in this area since 9/11, but much more could be made with a State-led effort. Again, an example, of just getting the Federal government out of the way. There is no effort to lead all of the people at the federal government right now.

  • Kathryn - 14 years ago

Get involved folks, this is our country, our lives, our freedom, at stake here!

  • Ruth - 14 years ago

Our position needs to be clear, we support LIMITED Federal Government and the actions of the Federal Government to take away our freedoms. Limited government and States Rights fall well into the scope of our values, yet we need to have ONE SOLID VOICE. The democrats would like us to splinter away, divided within so we cannot stand strong as the very large and strong body of Americans that we are.

The States rights to protect it's borders is well within our scope and we applaud and support Arizona. However, the main strong message should be one theme presented against every action this administration is pulling from it's bags of tricks:

WE OPPOSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S POWER GRAB WITH THE RESULT OF LIMITING LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

Under this main theme is the right to healthcare without federal control, the right to manage personal finances without federal government control, the right to bear arms, rights of a CITIZEN that will not be freely given to anyone choosing to ignore our laws and cross our borders, free speech rights to communicate and meet, etc, etc.

We also need to defend the misinformation from the administration and media but NOT get bogged down and lose our main theme. An example is the latest accusation of Tea Partiers "not wanting to pay taxes". I would guess we ARE the half of our country actually paying taxes. We are only asking for EVERYONE to pay taxes or at least FAIR tax. In the end however, this is a side argument the left would like us to play so we cannot stand strong. We cannot get distracted from our main goal of limiting the huge Federal overreach who has demonstrated are not interested in representing the people who elected them, only special interests.

We stand strong with our good Americans! May God Bless America!

  • Joan Hertz & Rudy Pedraza - 14 years ago

Please note Rudy is hispanic. I would venture to say most Hispanics born here agree. You should get involved as the media, govt, etc. sound like Goebbels - the biggerthe lie, more often it is repeated, the more likely the people will believe it. Note the violence of the people protesting the Arizona law. The Tea Party movement has been vilified but real violence is applauded.,

  • Helen - 14 years ago

This is an important issue. The panty-waists who Pelosi and moan about ''''spreading ourselves too thin''' make me sick! Did the Original Tea Party Patriots worry about the "R" card? Who among them worried they may offend some Brit? Personally, I'm about as fed up as a human can be with American people who allow themselves to be POLITICALLY CORRECTED into slavery! Admit it, to yourselves at least.. the Race Card was used more than a marked deck by a gambler, to elect Obama... but, it's not Race when it's black on white.. much like the popular perception of so called hate crimes. The Tea Party is doing a wonderful service for our Nation. It has brought together Patriots of like mind. It is only natural for the Progressive-left to attempt to infiltrate, and destroy the credibility of the Tea Party from within.. It's working with our government..
These same people think it's fine to send our Warriors into battle, where they've been tortured, mutilated and murdered.. in that order.. and yet, we aren't allowed to call Terrorists by their true name: Terrorists -- BHO wants to give them "Constitutional Rights" -- just as he wants to give amnesty to the law breaking Mexicans who come into this country illegally, produce anchor-litters, sign up for every handout available then proceed to bankrupt the host state..The only obligation the illegals have is to vote the straight Democrat ticket.. thereby guaranteeing the continued Reign of One World Progressive-liberals.
The Puppet Press has their knickers in a twist over the rights of these people.. How about the rights of the Rancher the illegals murdered.. Arizona ranches are pillaged, fences cut, stock slaughtered and the ranch familes terrorized by vile threats? What about them? The Lame-stream media is silent.
The Tea Party represents the Rights of We The People. I support them. I'm counting on them to restore our Nation to its once great status among Nations.
If that means I risk being called a naughty word by some imbecile, so be it.. I'm a big girl, I can handle it.

  • Jason Allgood - 14 years ago

We should focus on the single most dangerous thing which is the out of control spending and debt. There is not even a close second. We need to focus on trying to get a federal amendment that federal government expenditure cannot exceed 20% unless a war is declared. At the same time we should work on creating a tax system that does not give politicians the power to play favorites. Washington has so much power because they have they have the ability to give things (spend) or take things (tax). If we want to reduce the power of Washington we need to remove their power to play favorites. Immigration is a serious issue that should be dealt with separately and comprehensively meaning we look at what is causing the problem and not just the result.

  • Molly - 14 years ago

This is not about immigration. It is ALL ABOUT VOTES! If those illegals become legal they will thank Obama and company by supporting the Dems in the next election. Please do not be fooled by the "civil rights" propaganda. What other country in the world would let illegals in and then decide to Nationalize them??? We are not insensitive, just sick and tired of trying to save the world. But, again, its all about the VOTES my friends!

  • Daniel Parker - 14 years ago

I think similar laws should be enacted by every border state if not every state, the federal government has demonstrated that they are not going to do anything but pretend as if they want to control the border. The reason is simple, to import Marxist ideas from the south as a secure voting block so they can continue their democratic revolution to remake America. It is not about jobs, it is not about compassion, it is about Hugo Chavez style Marxism plain and simple. Everyone should read an article called weapon of theory by Amilcar Carbral it lays out the Marxist theory that has been emopoyed, read it and forward the info to every patriot that you know. Marxist ideas are the weapons that they have used to bring down the once greatest free market economy that the world has ever known. By the way Progressive Marxists come in both party affiliations, Democrat and Republican.

I say go for it - we need to stand up for ourselves.

  • Carolina Strasser - 14 years ago

Of course we should be involved. This is another blatant example of the Obama administration stepping over the 10th amendment and states' right.

  • Susie Haglund - 14 years ago

Immigration issues effect all of us in every state. I think the tea party, should take on this issue as a national one, But one where the tea party is supporting the constitution and states rights. The tea party should support AZ if for no other reason they they are a sovreign state and the people in AZ can decide what is best for their state to do to combat this problem. BTW, the state law is written to mirror the federal law on this issue, so just enforcing the federal law. Thus there should be absolutely NO federal gov. intereference in a state actively enforcing Federal law.

  • Left2Right - 14 years ago

We need to enforce the immigration laws. We already have enough legal parasites in America. We don't need to add another 13 million illegal parasites to the national entitlement burden. If we don't get involved with the immigration issue, Obama will surely grant all illegals US citizenship right before the election, thus instantly winning 13 million votes.

  • Zeb - 14 years ago

Claim: “Illegal immigrants are being denied their civil rights”

False: Civil rights pertain ONLY to citizens. The Merriam-Webster online Dictionary defines civil-rights as: “The nonpolitical rights of a citizen; especially: the rights of personal liberty guaranteed to U.S. citizens by the 13th and 14th amendments to the Constitution and by acts of Congress.” If one is not a citizen of the country, civil rights do not apply.

  • Zeb - 14 years ago

It is federal law now that all LEGAL immigrants must carry their green card upon their person and display it upon a proper request. The Arizona merely mirrors federal law that sadly isn't enforced.

  • Mike in Arizona - 14 years ago

I think the Tea Party should focus on taxes and states' rights, which can include Arizona's right to address its own immigration problems, but the issue of immigration itself just opens supporters of the Tea Party movement to additional deflective attempts to label them all as white racist bigots, without in any way lifting the strength of the party's arguments about taxation and states' rights.

Arizona – Doing the Work the Feds Refuse to Do

Arizona, by enacting a strict illegal immigration law has decided it wants less murders, kidnappings, assaults, rapes, human smuggling, drop houses, home invasions, drugs, welfare recipients; and fewer illegitimate users of their schools, health care and judicial systems. What’s not to like and cheer on about that?

  • Mark - 14 years ago

You are correct. The Federal Government is responsible for safeguarding America's borders, and they have FAILED. I applaud Arizona for passing a law to ENFORCE its laws. There have been calls for Obama to send the National Guard to Arizona to enforce the border. Fact is, the National Guard is under the authority of the States and the Governor. The State of Arizona does NOT NEED Washington's blessing to mobilize the Guard. Other border states should be encouraged to join Arizona in its defense. God Bless them for acting when the Federal Government won't.

  • Carole Cavanaugh - 14 years ago

Obama has craftily led this government towards a race war. Well, let it happen then! As Americans, we must grab and hold tight on to law and order....at all costs.
The Federal Government has obliterated the Constitution in many ways. The invasion of illegal immigrants is a protection we are guaranteed by the Constitution. Obama is not the only President that has negated his responsibility, but he is carrying the Presidential crime arrogantly overthe finish lone.
WE THE PEOPLE MUST RESIST...again at all costs. To give in will be the final nail in the coffin. Let us all remember, because of the corrupt media, it looks overwhelming ....but we still outnumber the adversary 200 to1 (and aybe more. Strength is in numbers....so take your number, get in line, and resist, resist, resist!

There should be NO SUPPORT of this state government and its impotent attempt to stop the real owners of the whole southwest from going any where they want.
Every state should offer support to the undocumented worker(slave) who comes into Arizona or other border states or any other state.
The Latino people owned all this land long before we stole it from them and killed them to gain the control of the states.
This immigration law is illegal. Stopping anybody and asking for their papers is just illegal. It is unfair and immoral.
There should be no laws regarding the travel across the border of the south. Stop the whities coming from Canada and England and all the other white places.
This is pure hate and profiling. What should be done is that all Latino's should rise up and with a real revolution overturn these rules of the states. If all of the community rose up in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas we could take over the whole southwest and make it a part of Mexico which is where it should be.

I believe this issue is intertwined with the elections. I think the reason the Feds are doing nothing about it is because they want the hispanic votes. I would not put it past them to pass their "imigration reform" before November to allow thousands of Mexicans to be allowed to vote for Obama, in this country. This issue is a huge part of what is wrong in America.

  • Susie Moore - 14 years ago

Absolutely we should give support to this courageous Governor! What is happening in Arizona and all along our southern border affects us all! Jan Brewer gets vote - we need to applaud her!

  • David Kirschmann - 14 years ago

Yes ,we should oppose illegal immigration everywhere , by contacting our representives and telling them to enforce the laws we have . It only takes phone calls and e- mails and signing pettions . Our Founders didn't run from any fights. Because they stood up and fought , we have the Greatest Country in the world . Just the other day when asked the question how the White House was going to handle Financial Reform and Immigration at the same time ? White House Robert Gibbs said , " They could work on more than one issue at a time ." And i knew what he meant by that . We must stand up even stronger to counter their aggression and big government take over . Stand up and fight ! I'm tired , but i will never stop fighting .

When are these Bozos in Washington going to realize that the American people have had enough. They are supposed to be representing US, instead they have their own agenda, and don't give a damn what the majority is saying.

  • Sharron Robinson - 14 years ago

Texas weighing in here. I am not a border city, Dallas is my county. Let me tell you a little story about the injustice here. My neighborhood has long gone to pot because of illegals. Anywhere from 10 to 27 living in one house and each one has a car. No insurance, no license but drives a new FORD truck. They all carry a cell phone, most of their children have one also. They have a card for food stamps, the school buses run up and down my street taking them to and from school. My son had to walk to school. Their kids eat free at school. They also get food from the churches and assistance to pay utility bills. When they need medical assistance they go straight to the Hospital emergency room. They never clean their yards. Beer cans and bottles are used as decorations. Nightime brings loud music and more beer. They have even had their live bands and let's not forget the blowup jumping jacks they get for the kids to play in. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to call police because of fights and loud music. They love to park in the yards (grassy areas) and even block driveways where you cannot get your car out. I have been told by the city they have investigated calls where neighbors have witnessed them sleeping on the house roofs.

This is a very common sight here. When they move out (evicted) the houses are all but demolished. ONE of them was able to buy a house but to afford it they move in 20 to help pay. None of the adults speak English but the kids do since they are being educated in our schools. Police hands are tied. They know me by name when I call. One of them has been deported numerous times but comes back to sire more children. My neighbors and I are fed up. I have some Hispanic neighbors (all legal) and they feel the same as I do. I bought and paid for my property only to have to live now in a run down area of illegals. WHERE are my rights as a citizen? You can not over emphasize the crime here now. I only wish that the people in Washington had to live in my neighborhood. I am sending a letter to Rick Perry to ask him to join Arizona in this new law that they have enacted. I believe as a tea party member MY rights have been violated and no one is protecting the citizens. I don't have a problem with legal immigration but this illegal crap has pushed the least of us to FURY. NO AMNESTY.

And by the way, I hear that Al Sharpton is joining in with the illegals and calls it civil rights. I don't believe that we can be silent in this matter and still portray ourselves as advocates for the constitution of the United States. Silence condones behavior.

  • Nick - 14 years ago

I think this issue should get some attention not necessarily because it is an immigration thing but because of the federal government stepping in. I am a very firm believer that the federal government has no right to try and govern individual states. Arizona knows what is good for Arizona.

  • Kris - 14 years ago

We should not, as a group, be in favor of one side or the other. If the Tea Party gets involved it should only be in support of States Rights. If the Tea Party goes on record in support of Arizona’s new law, it risks additional unfounded accusations of prejudice. We risk alienating a large number of people who are against increased spending and higher taxes.

  • Amy - 14 years ago

We should speak out against everything that violates our Constitution. I do, however, think that Arizona is managing this very well at this point. The Obama maniacs have (again) turned into a bunch of rabid dogs (and no offense toward rabid dogs). We need to always keep an eye of what they are really up to. They seem to be good at spinning things and slipping them in through the back door when no one is watching. It's too bad that we can't trust those running our government. Sad, really.

  • Sunshine Connie - 14 years ago

All of the Tea Parties need to engage in active support of Arizona's new Law which is a complement to the Federal Law which are being ignored. Our fight here is to protect our citizens from a porous border that the Federal Government continues to leave wide open. Safety and security of the entire Nation is being ignored by the inaction at the Federal Governments hand. Arizonans economic situation is very over burdened with the financial demands placed on it by 450,000 human beings who have chosen to ignore our laws aided and abetted by a Federal Government that continues to play games. Remittances to Mexico cost all Americans hundreds of millions of dollars every year while Government Entitlements skyrocket to provide our tax dollars to people who break our laws daily. The jails and prisons are overflowing with the most violent and vile criminals that other countries have foisted off on our taxpayers. The inskilled illegal alien steals from the US Job Market every day with its willingness to perform some work that is not so desireable for cheap cash wages. While doing this work for cash they pay NO taxes to the Government but continue to reap the benefits they are stealing from our system designed to provide support to our people. They flood our hopitals and pay nothing. They flood our schools and pay nothing. they drive $500 junk vehicles and abandon them when they cause accidents which our individual insurances must cover. They sue us in our own courts when they feel wronged. They are a blight on the people of the world who do things right by asking permission to join us via the proper immigration system.

You have asked me if the Tea Parties should engage on the issue. I am a citizen of the United States and live in Arizona and have one question for all of you. How can you not support our efforts to secure our State, Country, Security and way of life?

  • John R. Schell - 14 years ago

We (American citizens) need to fight in any issue that would restore the rights and stability of our nation. For too long our politicians have sold our country down the drain one chunk at a time, for votes or benefits. I'm tired of those with the biggest mouths being the only ones that are heard. Legal is legal, no rights to the illegal. If you are an American, English is our language? If anyone wants equal rights and respect, earn them. When will the titles that show up before (some race) American fall away and being American is more than enough.
May God have mercy upon us!!!!

  • Teri Ludwig - 14 years ago

Since the Tea Party engages in primarily federal government activism and the federal government has taken a position to oppose Arizona's right to protect itself, I believe it only makes sense for the Tea Party to involve itself. Go ARIZONA!!!! Its about time.

  • Dennis Abrams - 14 years ago

Kawalski show me where in the new bill it infringes on anybodys civil rights. Unless you have read the bill and understand it I don't think you can make that assumption. I have not read the bill so I will have to wait and see. Until then I will not make any assumptions one way or another. I can say that I feel for Az and pray that they solve their illegal immigration problem. I just wish until they do that they cut off all benifits, free medical, free food, free housing, free education etc. for anyone that is in this country illegally. God Bless America

  • Scott Harkey - 14 years ago

While there are groups like grassfire.org who are primarily involved in fighting illegal immigration, we should be concerned by the fact that the federal government is attempting to override the laws of a particular state. Under the tenth amendment to the Constitution, states and their people are protected against this form of tyranny by the federal government. While T.E.A. may stand for Taxed Enough Already, what does P.A.R.T.Y. stand for? IMHO, it could stand for Perhaps (or Probably) Another Revolution This Year, if things don't change quickly. We are seeing the total collapse of our Judeo-Christian Republic form of government and it's replacement with a Non-Theistic or Islamic form of Socialism. Barry Sotero (you know the kenyan without a birth certificate impersonating the President calling himself President Barrack Obama) is a Muslim Marxist-Socialist with no birth right to hold the highest office in this country, yet here we are listening to his babble and not calling for his removal and deportation.

The Guardians of the Free Republic has issued lawful document that was drafted and agreed to by a 27 citizen De Jeur Grand Jury from each state to all fifty state governors advocating a violence free revolution where by all governors who would resign from office and take an oath to up hold the constitution would be forgiven of past offences and allowed to continue as the chief officer in their state. Those who refused would be removed by the De Jeur Grand Jury of 27 citizens of that state, with the support of the military, and replaced with a governor who would sign the blood oath. Of course the military did not support this coo. But it aint over yet. Rather extreme I know...but, This is what it has come down to. Either we are willing to stand against the tyranny of our oppressors or our freedoms will be consumed by them and we will be left as servants of the ruling class, much like the USSR of old.
While it may be well and good to fight the good fight and "vote the bums out" this coming election and future elections, that is not really where the problem lies. There is an entrenched enemy in the bureaucracy of our federal government who will continue the course of change with or without the will of the people. Drastic measures are sometimes necessary in dire times. If we do not "un-fund" the beast and take back the freedoms which have been slipping away from us as we have been sleeping, then we are doomed.
I advocate closing our borders with as much fence as it takes, remove those who are here illegally (and yes that means that you may have to be inconvenienced by having to prove you are a citizen and by the way learn the language of the land), do away with every federal program that has no constitutional basis, repeal the income tax laws, the return of the freedoms such as corporate prayer in public places, and focus on the basic principles set forth by our founding fathers, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I pray for the salvation of our nation and it's people. God save us all.

  • Mark - 14 years ago

I think we should let them know that we support their aims and ideals, but not become involved in their battle. There are many people in this country (most, actually) who don't really understand this issue completely. Not only have I spent much time in Mexico and lived there for many years, but I now live only five miles from the Mexican border. I believe I have more experience than the majority of Americans regarding this issue because I have lived in close proximity to the problem for many years and know a number of Mexicans (living in Mexico) who have lived and worked in the US illegally. Most of these illegals are very good God fearing people. They are just looking for a better life. Don't blame this problem on them...blame our government for not upholding and enforcing our own laws! I am a staunch conservative. I see the problem as very gray...not black and white.
I believe the liberals want amnesty for illegals because they will receive the benefit of 12 to 20 million additional votes! Then where will conservatism stand?
I believe that these illegals should be sent home. If they want to live in our country, let them get in line like everyone else and do it legally.
If we become embroiled in this issue (even though we believe in it's importance) what will the drive by media add to their already absurd statements and tactics aimed at making the Tea Party out to be a bunch of radical racists? I don't believe getting heavily involved in this issue will help us gain any momentum or new converts. It will only serve to dissipate our energy and momentum.
Give this issue our support...not our time, energy or money!

  • Richard Radzik - 14 years ago

Immigration should be in place for those who want to become integrated into our society, add the values of their previous experiences, and to ahere to the the laws, values, and language of the United States. Many illegals enter the United States, not to become citizens, but to earn money that they cannot earn in their home country. Many who do not succeed, tend to fall onto our generosity as a country and become an unwanted blight on our social services. Many are even given more benefits than some of our lower income earners by receiving free or reduced cost education, food stamps, welfare, etc. For those who are unaware of government policy, if a child of an American serviceman is born in a foreign country while one of their parents is serving that country, then that child cannot become President of the United States. However, if an anchor baby of two illegal aliens is born in the United States, then that child can become President, reducing the rights of the Servicemans family.

Twice before, our government has said that it was going to reform our immigrations laws, and added additional laws to the existing ones that were not enforced. Both times they gave amnesty to the illegals. Once again we are at a crossroads - to let the Federal Government put more regulations that they will not enforce, or to allow the states with the conviction of purpose (like Arizona) to establish the laws for THEIR State. The federal government does not alleviate the burden of the states to support the extra expenses incurred by the state, so why should they be the only ones allowed to regulate the burdening illegal alien population. These people have ignored our laws and have at times disgraced our country by flying their country's flag above that of the United States flag. Additionally, these illegals should not be allowed to remain in the United States while seeking a path to citizenship. This is an affront to all those who are waiting outside our borders who are petitioning to get into AMERICA legally.

I hope that more states will follow. I plan on going to Arizona to show my support, since I spent 26+ years in the military, defending our Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

  • Tracy Grant - 14 years ago

Start a BUYCOTT for Arizona. We should help this brave state for their desire to rid their state of law breakers. We are either a land of law abiding citizens or we have nothing but law breakers and anarchy. Illegal immigration is a cancer on our land, culture and society. The Federal Government has shown they are not willing to tackle this so Arizona must protect their citizens. Take a vacation in Arizona this summer to help them out.

  • Marya - 14 years ago

The Arizona law dismisses the 4th amendment of our much-loved.U.S. Constitution. We shouldn't support that regardless of circumstances. The Constitution is the bedrock on which our country lies. Anyone who can't support the 4th Amendment should work to have it abolished. Illegal immigrants in this country can and will be dealt with. The Congress has been dragging its feet on both sides of the aisle on this problem for years. Ignoring the Constitution isn't ever the way to solve our problems. We need to elect people to office who are willing to deal with these problems. We cannot ignore the Constitution because it suits our purposes to do so. We are a nation of laws, not men. Who are the people who WILL, working under the Constitution, find answers to this terrible situation?? Let's find them and support them.

We cannot avoid this issue because IT IS a Federal issue. The Federal legislature has already passed a directive to build a fence to protect its citizens. This is just another failure in a long history of FAILURES to uphold the constitution. An official position needs to be developed to keep the conversation pointed at the real issue, UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION!

HOGWASH.....I firmly believe the TEA PARTY should get involved with ANYTHING that has to do with the future of our country. The Goverment is getting involved so why shouldn't we. You can see that our elected officials are selling us out, left and right, day by day, so if we don't get involved, we as a nation, is going down. Someone has to speak out, so let's all get involved. Getting the right people elected sounds good, but how do we know they will keep their promise to us? We have already been shown that promises have been broken, time and time again. We can't leave anything to chance. In my opinion, we have been silent too long....nothing is going "to fall into place" if we don't fight to make it happen.

The Tea Party should be true to it's roots of Individual rights above all.

The AZ bill infringes on the rights of Hispanic American citizens and all US citizens.

We cannot afford to take the wrong side on issues that are so crucial to our fight.

The issue is we've lost control of our borders, lives & our American freedoms & rights. Since when does an illegal have MORE rights than someone born in the US or someone who legally comes here? I am paying for their healthcare, their homes & supporting their welfare (welfare state I live in welcomes all non-US citizens with a big fat monthly check & housing!) Our sovereignty & our rules of law are are being trampled on. Lawyers & politicians are making a mockery & PC is rampant. Lord help us to be the great nation we once were...again.

I think you get it 100% right- the tea party movement is about getting control back to the states and AWAY from the federal government. Even IF (and I don't think this way) you have a bleeding heart for the illegal immigrants- common sense is commom sense- the citizens/taxpayers can't afford to foot the bill for them.

Yes! We need to support states governing themselves to make the federal government recognize it's Constitutional limitations. As many have stated earlier these people are costing Americans tax dollars.

We do need to get envolved with this issue. Arizona finaly did what the Federal Goverment refused to do and we need to show them that we back them 100% for having the guts to do what needed to be done! We have the only goverment in the World that has created this problem by spending our tax dollars to make it ok to be an illegal in this county. Our goverment tells them that they don't have to learn to speak English, that any of their needs will taken care of for free, and they don't have to be responable for any actions they chose to commit because they are illegal. What is wrong with this picture? I believe that anyone who wants to stay and live in America needs to be LEGAL, obey the laws and speak English.
