Its the freedom element of being able to travel where, when and how you want to.

I was laid off from a job I worked at for 20 years. We struggled to pay the mortgage after that for 3 years. I wasn't finding a comparable job in the regular workforce. Then, we discovered Workamper News. It was the most fantastic thing--we decided to sell the house, get an RV, and go out there. Working for $7.00 per hour when you have a huge mortgage and all that goes with it is not so fun. But making that same $7.00 an hour when you are able to explore new areas on your days off, and have virtually no bills and no upkeep of your home, well, that is little bit like heaven. We have been out here, living the life, for 10 years.

I became a truck driver to fulfill a dream of traveling with a replica of the Vietnam Wall. I followed that dream and traveled with The Wall That Heals for 4 years. Upon retiring, I returned to CA to be with and care for my elderly mother. She died in February of 2010 and soon the estate will be settled. Then, I will be on-the-road again. I want to work and travel but I knew that big rigging was too much at age 65, so Workamping is the perfect solution. I bought a 5th wheel and truck last year and start my first Workamping experience in September with Amazon.

When I began trucking, I did not know what was ahead of me, but it soon became the perfect challenging job. I am not sure what is ahead of me now, but I have total faith in myself and my dreams. I am looking forward to meeting many new people and visiting old friends, experiencing a lot of unusual and interesting happenings/places and working at a variety of jobs. I hope to see you along the way.

I have the travel bug from growing up in a family that moved and traveled. I also like to set my own paths and my own schedule. My wife is very sensitive to motion sickness so plane and ship travel is out. RV travel has been a great solution for us.

Kimberly's baby brother passed away at a very young age of 40. While on his death bed, they talked about their dream lifestyles and how they thought they would live forever. Since he never followed his, he made her promise that she would follow her dream no matter how tough things got. A year later her mother passed away and again they shared some very special moments in the last few months of her life and again her mother made her promise to get out there and get her dream going...the rest is history!

Living this lifestyle has changed both our lives for the better in so many ways. Life is no longer about the things accumulated, but instead about sharing special moments with one another and enjoying every mile.

We were going to rent an RV for a 2-3 week trip but found what we would have spent on the rental was a good down payment. We have used the RV to go to my husband's doctors appointments. It also helps up keep up with his diet when we travel. By preparing his food in the RV, we have fewer arguments about what he can and cannot eat. It also helps us have the fresh fruits and veggies that he is allowed to have.

I also like to use it when he has a doctor's appointment where I do not need to go to his appointment. I can use it to go to the commissary and have access to a freezer if I find a good price on some frozen foods. I'm not confined to what will fit into a cooler (that never seems to be big enough as I never could get the lid to close even on our largest one).

Since we can have it parked on our property in the city, it is hooked up to the electricity all the time. When I quit smoking, I had to break my habit of going to the back porch to smoke. Instead, I would go to he RV to read, listen to mucic, etc. and successfully quit smoking last year. Now I am cleaning off the covered back porch so I can grow some veggies.
