Dogs being dogs don't bother me as much as obnoxious owners who think it's a freaking hoot that their dog is chasing me and that I'm showing my displeasure at the idea of being bitten. Then they (the owners) freak out when you so much as lift a foot in a futile attempt to defend yourself. I'm ready to start macing...the dogs AND the owners.
I was chased by an annoying little dog once. He trotted behind me, barking at my heels for about half a block, before finally getting called away by his owner.
My bigger scare was a couple of weeks ago, while running at night near a newly developed area. I ran by some animal that I'm pretty sure was a coyote. The new development is along the edge of a large wooded area that is known to have coyotes. Fortunately the animal left me alone...aside from providing some motivation for me to pick up my pace quite a bit.
Lucky enough to have never been bitten, but have had to outrun a dog before. Luckily, it had short legs and a heart condition, so I won. My wife saw me in the act, rounding a corner coming toward her on the same street and wondered what the heck I was doing... "speed training" I said. Hahaa!
Well, no crazy dog stories here, but I did spot a loose coyote in Central Park! (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/coyotes_roaming_manhattan_yAm8a3Yl2ZdmClz3C28CPN)

I was talking with a runner friend, who happens to be a vet, about being chased by dogs. He said if you ever get bit and the dog won't let go, to gouge it's eyes. I haven't had the opportunity to try that out and I hope I don't get the opportunity!

I' was on a run where the owner, out for a run got tripped up and fell. Nothing serious, but at the time I kept thinking "that dog just wanted to go home". I did have a dog surprise me and bark beside the fence I was running past. My adrenaline shot RIGHT UP! Funny, I love dogs.

While running through a park early one morning a playful undisciplined dog started jumping up on me while its owners laughed and pointed from their jeep wrangler. Clearly the dog needed a run.....so i called it along with me and took it for a run on into some nearby trails. The owners tried to call the dog back, but he decided it was more fun with me. He ran with me for a few miles before it took interest in a squirrel. I assume the owners eventually got their dog back.
Had a loose dog join me for a few miles, before I read his address on his collar and ran him back home.

I think "Ran a local 5k Mutt Strut where your dog broke loose causing you to go from competing for the win to 4th place." should be an option!

How about when I was running a 5k and dog got off his leash and started chasing us and barking at us. My friend had to jump over it to avoid it during the race.
I had a Rottweiler break the shoestring (not really, but may as well have been) that tied him to a tree in the front yard and lunge on me, taking a nip of my hand when I pushed him off. His owner comes out yelling at the dog, all irritated - appeared to be directed at ME - and complain that this was the second time her dog had broken through the rope. PERHAPS DON'T DIE YOUR ROTTWEILER TO A TREE IN THE FRONTYARD WITH A BALLOON STRING. Just a thought.

I think that "Bit by the same dog that bit your husband twice and ate his wedding band" should be an option.

None of the above, really. I run with a dog, but he's cool. I've seen dogs out, but the worst they've done is follow us.

Barked at AND chased down. SO not fun. Also, it may have been a chihuahua.
