I firmly disagree with the decision because the fashion industry is still racially segregated. The mainstream fashion magazines ignore black women.

It is the year 2010 and if Essence Magazine believes a white woman can do a good job as the fashion director she deserves a chance to prove herself.

I am uncertain if it is right or wrong that Essence Magazine hired a white female fashion director for a black publication.

How can a white female fashion director understand black culture when she doesn't have the racial experience of being black?
