So, if this poll is re-done in four or five years time, The Vampire Diaries will have more popularity and recognition by then and Twilight will have long since been over, giving The Vampire Diaries a better chance in winning based on popularity, which is what is happening now and is to be expected.

I have to say that my vote goes to Edward, and before you say anything, yes, Damon is Hot! But even if I wanted Damon to win, I have to stay true to my Twilight friends :) And maybe if I've read TVD before twilight, I would've voted for Damon, but since I read Twilight I've been in love with Edward! And he's so damn sexy too! I like Ian but my first impression of him was that he seemed a little arrogant, but from what I've heard, he is a very nice person. What really bugs me is when all the twilight fans get this terrible treatment for every hater, and then there us some "twitard" who prooves them right by saying stupid things like "FUCK you, I love Edward, he is gonna win 'cause he's so dreeeammy" really? So I'm a huge Twilight and Vampire diaries fan, I've read and watched both. Edward vs Damion really thats no competition it's Damion all the way. People remember its not a character vs character competition its a who sexier competition and really look at edward he's pale and looks like a zombie but Damion is Tan, Dark, Brodding and Sexy as hell. So really theres no reason not to vote for Damion.

Personally voted for Damon. why? because I think that if your voting for the Better Looking character/actor he has it in abundance. I'm not against twilight - despite personally never wanting to watch it (I'm not a fan of the books and IMO they are only as successful as they are because of Buffy/Angel and Harry potter) but seriously? who is the BETTER LOOKING for the two?
I agree with Kat, watch VD coz it is beyond awsome as a TV show, its all the best bits of Dawsons Creek (language wise) mixed in the blood and gore of horror movies and the tradition vamp tv shows like Buffy & Angel.
On a side note: How did the BGS girls not get up to the top? The laides are stunningly beautiful.

@Ally, I'm sorry I think you are wrong about TVD, if you just watched it once and just for 5 minutes you don't have any kind of base to say the plot of the show is old, and all that stuff you just said, actually is a very well written and developed history which is not possible to understand in five minutes, and if you just take your time and watch it and pay attention you may find out that the characters are beyond well played and they have a great background, I'm just saying you should make some research or watch the TV show before judging it, you may be surprised of how good is the show.

ATTN ALL FANS OF THE VAMPIRE DIARIES AND TWILIGHT- LISTEN UP! THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST SENSIBLE COMMENT THAT WILL EVER BE WRITTEN HERE. first of all, i just want to say this. the vampire diaries is a low budget show produced on a failing network (yes, i know it's sad but it's the truth) and twilight is a global phenomenon, a successful book and movie franchise. the odds are if u ask a household of 5 who damon salvatore is, most likely only 1 or 2 will be able to recognize him, but if u ask a household who edward cullen is, i am sure that all 5 will know him or at least heard of him. THAT BEING SAID- the fact that damon made it THIS far is nothing short of AMAZING. and the fact that he is making it hard for the twilight fans is another accomplishment in itself. how can a show on a tiny network compete against twilight? but it is, and that to me is more shocking than anything else. i've always wished that the vampire diaries was on a different network, because being on the CW, it does not get the attention that it honestly DESERVES. not only is damon making it hard for edward, but damon managed to beat eric northman. THE eric northman. i love me some eric northman. EW made a terrible mistake by even including twilight in this competition. they knew by adding twilight in, that it was going to be the winner so in my opinion, they should of had an entirely seperate competition apart from twilight to determine who the real winner is. second, i need to say this. all of the people who voted for edward here and have never actually seen the vampire diaries, one day you WILL see it and you will fall hard for damon salvatore and you will regret your decision here. for those of you who have actually seen both and know about BOTH characters and still chose edward, i respect you and your opinion. but for the others, there's a REASON why 90% of the comments here are for damon. believe me, when you actually open your mind and watch the vampire diaries for yourself, you will look back on this and wonder. if you have not seen it, i implore you, please watch it because BELIEVE ME, i was one of those people that was VERY stubborn and didn't want to watch it because i thought it would be a twilight ripoff. but i changed my mind within the first 3 episodes of the season. lastly, i want to say i am so PROUD of tvdfamily right now for bringing our boy THIS far. we did it without the support of movies and fansites and fangirls. we did it all on our own and i could not be happier. so let's not get too worked up about this okay. twilight is an unstoppable force so as much as i WANT damon to win, if he doesn't, i will be content with 2nd place. but for now, KEEP VOTING and SPREAD THE WORD. because DAMON DESERVES IT!

Actually I don't think Damon is sexy at all. And all those lines you guys keep quoting.. not very intelligent. Not really a man, more like a teenager. Edward Cullen is sexy. It also depends on what a person thinks is sexy. I think Rpats is hot. You think Damon is hot. I'm not a tweeny, I just have different tastes then you. People think Taylor Lautner is hot, i don't think he is. I have to say that my vote goes to Edward, and before you say anything, yes, Damon is Hot! But even if I wanted Damon to win, I have to stay true to my Twilight friends :) And maybe if I've read TVD before twilight, I would've voted for Damon, but since I read Twilight I've been in love with Edward! And he's so damn sexy too! I like Ian but my first impression of him was that he seemed a little arrogant, but from what I've heard, he is a very nice person. So I'm a huge Twilight and Vampire diaries fan, I've read and watched both. Edward vs Damion really thats no competition it's Damion all the way. People remember its not a character vs character competition its a who sexier competition and really look at edward he's pale and looks like a zombie but Damion is Tan, Dark, Brodding and Sexy as hell. So really theres no reason not to vote for Damion.

@Ally, I'm sorry I think you are wrong about TVD, if you just watched it once and just for 5 minutes you don't have any kind of base to say the plot of the show is old, and all that stuff you just said, actually is a very well written and developed history which is not possible to understand in five minutes, and if you just take your time and watch it and pay attention you may find out that the characters are beyond well played and they have a great background, I'm just saying you should make some research or watch the TV show before judging it, you may be surprised of how good is the show.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST SENSIBLE COMMENT THAT WILL EVER BE WRITTEN HERE. first of all, i just want to say this. the vampire diaries is a low budget show produced on a failing network (yes, i know it's sad but it's the truth) and twilight is a global phenomenon, a successful book and movie franchise. the odds are if u ask a household of 5 who damon salvatore is, most likely only 1 or 2 will be able to recognize him, but if u ask a household who edward cullen is, i am sure that all 5 will know him or at least heard of him. THAT BEING SAID- the fact that damon made it THIS far is nothing short of AMAZING. and the fact that he is making it hard for the twilight fans is another accomplishment in itself. how can a show on a tiny network compete against twilight? but it is, and that to me is more shocking than anything else. i've always wished that the vampire diaries was on a different network, because being on the CW, it does not get the attention that it honestly DESERVES. not only is damon making it hard for edward, but damon managed to beat eric northman. THE eric northman. i love me some eric northman.
