Why Is Hollywood Promoting The Obese Actress Gabourey Sidibe?
Gabourey Sidibe is just another black mammy just like Oprah and Queen Latifah. The media are comfortable with overweight black women compared to the talented, sexy, black women.
I am uncertain if the media are just promoting Gabourey Sidibe to make a point that an obese actress can be sucessful in Hollywood.
Perhaps Gabourey Sidibe is receiving a lot of media attention because she deserves it her performance in precious was incredible.
Hollywood puts black women into cateogories. Hollywood only allows very few black women to reach the top. The image of blackwomanhood that is acceptance is the fat black woman.
It is dangerous that Gabourey Sidibe is becoming more famous. Obesity is a serious health issue and obesity should be taken more seriously by society.
