I believe that Shirley Caesar should inherit the title Queen of Gospel because of her long-standing and prestigious career. She has set numerous records and remains one of the best-selling and respected Gospel artists. All of the other artists have been great artists, but none touch the longevity and consistency of Shirley Casesar. The Queen of Gospel should go to her as she is not only respected by gospel artists, but also secular artists as well. Her stand for the Word also should be taken into great consideration. CeCe is a wonderful artist, but queen of gospel, no way. She hasn't been singing long enough to be considered the queen. Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Yolanda Adams, Dottie Peoples have all done great but have not made as many records/cd's as shirley has. Dorothy Norwood has the years, but has not won as many awards as Shirely Caesar has. Karen-Clark Sheard, might very well one day in the future be in the running for queen. Her vocal style and rich history in Gospel may very well earn her the title in the years to come. But in this present time, the only one worthy of the title is Shirley Caesar, the first lady of Gospel!
