Why are many Internet users not properly protecting themselves while online?

Don't think the threats are real.

Don't think they will be the ones to get "hacked".

Don't know how to properly protect themselves.

Ignoring the Internet security issues; hoping they'll go away.

There are so many new threats that it's useless to try to protect yourself.

Making Internet use safer is someone else's problem.

Don't know there is an Internet security problem.

Internet Security is very essential but it is very difficult to understand & comply with. I have thereby left it to Microsoft's Security Essential and all other security features Microsoft has added in Internet Explorer I use.
While networking money matters one should be able to resort to Private-browsing: safe use of wire-less devices.
I don't think any normal Internet user can challenge mischievous mall-ware writers or Hackers.
Secondly I think the Mal-ware writers or hackers are doing for money and miscreants are less to just create trouble.
