Perhaps there's a 4th option: maybe RIM doesn't care to produce a whole separate line of stupid CDMA devices for one carrier? Maybe the realities of shrinking market share have ended the honeymoon wherein Verizon gets to dictate the terms of unrealistic loss-leader pricing on devices that make up a fraction of the worldwide device market, and that can't be used with any other carrier's network.
