Should one-loss SEC team get nod over undefeated non-AQs?

No conference can call themselves dominant when all games outside the conference are cream puff pushovers with names like Lafeyette Tech. The SEC needs to schedule games like Notre Dame or USC schedules. In addition, the SEC bowl record was right around 50% this year and most of those wins were against the Big Ten that had a rather poor year. A pushover non-conference schedule and a 50% bowl record is nothing to stand on the mountain and crow about.

NOBODY deserves a free pass to the national championship. All I'm saying is just look at Alabama, a 3 loss team . They could have beaten any conferences champion from this years class. ( ask Mich St.), they were manhandled. All their losses were within the SEC. In which 2 of they should'nt have lost. Plus, 50% of their schedule had 2 weeks to prepare...the only deserved loss was to South Carolina. NOBODY could have beaten them that Sat. Had they saved that game for the SEC Championship, Auburn would'nt be Nat. Champs.
Anyway, it will eventually change, but as of now, the SEC is the dominate conference.

This is crap. The 5 and 5 in bowl games SEC claims to be the best. Ha! One of those losses was to Conference USA. Terrible. Fact is, if you get a free ticket, you get a chance to win every year. That's the only reason they seem so "dominant". Sure their top teams are among the best in the nation, but so are alot of other conference's best teams. The SEC East this year couldn't have won the Big East. Auburn certainly wasn't clearly the best team last night and the free gift of 35 undeserved yards on the final drive literally gave them the win.

Clearly the SEC has been the dominent conference in college football for the past 5 years. All you have to do is look at the bowl wins of the various conference teams over that same period to realize that fact. Most college teams in the Big 12 & Pac 10 would be lucky to be a .500 team in the SEC since none of them know how to play DEFENSE. Offense is exciting, but defense wins CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The SEC is by far the best conference in the country!! From top to bottom we have the best teams in the country, and that's why we always win the national championship game against teams from other conferences. I don't think we should get an automatic birth in the BCS championship, but there is no way Boise State or TCU would make it through the season undefeated if they played in the SEC. A win is a win if it's by 3 points or 33 points.

When is the SEC going to stop thinking they are the God's of college football. They have all struggled against unranked teams, yet the voters think this is impressive. No conference should ever have an automatic gift to Bowl Championship play. BCS is crap anyway, but that another subject which is controlled by the big five. If you’re a top 10 team, if you play against an unranked team you beat them on the field convincingly. Not by 3 or 5 points which the top SEC schools have been doing all year. Wake up SEC, you're just another conference that thinks they deserve without merit!

Have any of you people looked at the record of TCU and Boise State and compared them to some of the SEC schools. They don't even compare, the coach at Boise is 58-4 since he came to Boise State and Boise State has never lost a game on their new home field. Kellen More has lost one game since starting to play for Boise State and that was a 1 point loss to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. Kellen will have over 10,000 yards in his first three years and has a completion rate of over 70%, plus over 90 touchdowns, iin this three year span. Is there another quarterback that has this kind of record, one that is playing today?

Funny how we are talking about a birthright to the SEC to automatically play for the national title every year while some 100 plus other teams have to "prove" themselves to a computer and hundreds of voters who most live in New York or Los Angeles and read the paper or watch ESPN and never even see a game, just the scores. Boise State this year will play and BEAT any team in the country!! Auburn will be just like USC for a couple years because of the scandle should not even be considerded anymore. Its sad to say, but because of an off the field incident, they have shot themselves in the foot and CAM like Reggie Bush, will run to the NFL and leave his team screwed. And TCU, once they meet a good team like they did last years Boise St, will lose again.

What about 1 loss Big 12 teams? Nebraska only loss is to Texas (yeah, an embarrassment), but they dropped about 4 open touchdown passes, which later resulted in no points, so who knows. Also, I am trying to figure out how TCU's 5 point win caused a serious drop in their ratings, while Oregon's 3 point win did not affect them at all.

@ "big richie" you cannot not define TCU's defense that way when they play Tennessee Tech, Baylor, Southern Methodist, Colorado State, Wyoming, Brigham Young, and UNLV. The only top 25 (and decent) teams TCU played was Oregon State and Utah who turned out being a complete bcs bust. Auburn had to play 5 REAL top 25 teams and defeated all of them. I am not even an auburn fan, so this is no biased opinion. If Auburn were to play TCU on a neutral field it would be a complete massacre. The only chance TCU would have to keep up would be if Auburn put in all of their back ups.

PEOPLE ARE TRASHING TCU FOR A 5 POINT WIN OVER SD ST. WELL, LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT SD ST. THEY HAVE A 3 POINT LOSS AT BYU AND A PHONEY 3 POINT LOSS AT MISSOURI, WHERE THE ZEBRAS DIDN'T FLAG AN OBVIOUS CLIP ON THE WINNING TD VERY LATE IN THE GAME. THEY SHOULD BE A 1-LOSS TEAM. LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT A VERY OVER-RATED AUBURN.THEY BEAT CLEMSON BY 3 IN OT. CLEMSON IS A 5-LOSS TEAM. THEY BEAT KENTUCKY BY 3, WHO HAS LOST 5 GAMES. THEY BEAT MISSISSIPPI ST BY 3' THEY HAVE LOST 3 GAMES. TCU'S OTHER CLOSE WIN WAS BY 9 OVER OREGON ST ON OPENING DAY. TCU HAS HELD 8 OPPONENTS TO 10 OR LESS POINTS AND HAS THE BEST DEFENSE IN THE NCAA. IF AUBURN WERE TO PLAY TCU ON A NEUTRAL FIELD TCU WOULD BE FAVORED BY 4 TO 6 POINTS.
