The Pecan Street Festival is a good choice because it is an event that goes all day long, with people coming and going steadily throughout the day. The issue associated with events like UT football games and various walks/runs is that there is a specific start and end time--what that means is potentially thousands of people wanting to leave at the same time, and at this time MetroRail doesn't have the capacity to move that many people simultaneously.
The choices from which to vote are not great - why does Pecan Street Festival pull more strings than things like Capitol 10K or other marathons? Breast Cancer Awareness Walk or other walks? Biker Rally/Gay Pride parade? Erwin Center events? Etc. ...
