How would TCU fare against Auburn and Oregon?

I agree that AU's non-conference schedule wasn't tough, but neither was TCU's in-conference schedule. The MWC isn't that much better then the sun-belt. And Charles, I cant agree more about the playoff, but to say that Auburn and Oregon haven't played against quality defenses is absurd. Cam Newton practically made a highlight reel against a top 10 defense in LSU, and had 4 total td's against another top 10 D in the iron bowl.you can talk about Oregon's lack of competition all day (excluding Stanford, what a season for the Cardinal), but Auburn defeated quality competition without stumbling once. You can consider the non-conference games well-deserved extra bye weeks for the tigers.
(I am also neither an Auburn grad or season ticket holder... Anymore)

TCU conceded the ball to Wisconsin played a nearly perfect game to include to their strength no less and still lost. TCU beat the nation's best O-line, the best trio of backs. TCU held the ball just 23 minutes and still won. I don't see either Auburn or Oregon doing any better than Wisconsin did, neither O-line is as good and neither team has seen a defense as fast or well coached as TCU's. Don't forget about that offense, Wisconsin's D was no sieve. Hail to a playoff.

Then have your SEC teams schedule them in non-conference instead of the Arkansas States, Louisana-Monroes and Chattanoogas of the world.

Those teams weren't randomly picked. They comprised Auburn's non-conference schedule.

Most real college football fans acknowledge the SEC is the toughest league consistently. But by the same token, that doesn't mean SEC fans should dismiss any other team out there as unable to compete in that league.

TCU, in many ways, plays SEC-style football without the recruiting riches that comes with SEC membership.

(Disclosure: I am not a TCU grad or ticket-holder.)

You can't possibly believe that TCU would survive an SEC schedule. Give them the conference schedule of Ole Miss and they'd have slipped up at least twice: to Auburn and either Alabama, Arkansas, or LSU. What Auburn has accomplished this year by coming out of that kind of conference gauntlet is phenomenal. If TCU is unbeaten this time next year in the Big East, they can whine their way into the championship game, but until that day, don't take away from the accomplishments of the big boys by watering them down with 'what-if?'s from Fort Worth.

wow every team beat a big 10 team today--that really makes the tcu win more mediocre than before... i mean we all thought wisc was pretty good---I think several teams could have beat tcu including alabama, arkansas, stanford, auburn, and lsu and maybe oregon

@frank patterson--auburn is about to show us all that its oregon who is out of their league----I would have liked to see auburn vs tcu but really frank the sec has proven year after year after year that they are the best. and i also knew cam from univ of florida and he is gonna take the championship....and wouldnt be stopped by tcu ..tcu was really good but not shining allstars , no really unstoppable forces like cam but, think what u wanna

TCU had a great year but really can't be taken seriously because they had very poor competition BEFORE the bowl game ..... that is why they just accepted to join the weakest conference in 2012. - hey, it's smart to start off small in a weak conference but then they will be taken seriously if they compete ALL year------think about it --what school wouldnt drop out of their tough conference so they could play "sisters of the poor" schools and go undefeated like tcu did this year.. but anyways good job horned frogs

I told the ESPN team that they were so busy promoting Auburn and other SEC teams for the BCS title game the probably made us miss the very best game between TCU and Oregon. That is typical of the sports media. I've known TCU's Dan Sharp (special teams coach) since he was 11 yrs old and know his dedication to the team. I don't know if Gary Patterson is any kin but I'd claim him. I spoke to Dan over the holidays and told him I hope they kick Wisconsin's butt back to the BCS and I think they did. If we can get the media out of the public relations dept. of the SEC and the BCS system we might get a more objective selection for the national championship game. Wouldn't that be wonderful???

After playing TCU for 6 years, we BYU fans know of the power of that team. Only uninformed and loyalists to the BCS system say they would lose to Oregon and Auburn. Much is made of schedules, well BYU, Utah, San Diego State, Air Force. All quality programs and except for Utah- who played another Wetern powerhouse Boise State- all were winners. It is very tough to go undefeated. Any undefeated team should be counted as championship material, no matter their conference. The unfairness in the system is that the home boys want to keep the money, which sounds like regular American greed. Take away the disparity in payments and the whole problem goes away. (What redistribute the wealth, hmmm where have we heard that before? While I don't agree in general with this anti-American business approach, in this case it makes sense. Go supposed mid-major conferences. I remember from years ago the NIT was the basketball National Championship, then a new guy the NCAA came along. What's in the future? We shall see. Good luck TCU, BYU, and Utah in their new quests in football.
