It really is quite variable. On average, I'd say 30-60 minutes, but some of the more thoughtful posts may take days to compose. On the other hand, if I'm just doing a filler post, it can be done in minutes. As far as the thought process goe, to post everyday, I need to be thinking of what I want to write about pretty much all day.
It takes time to produce high quality content (about 4 hours/post for me). The result may not be high volumes of traffic, but the conversations and readership more than make up for the difference.
Its 30 minutes. But, I maintain two blogs one is basically cut and paste of beautiful and motivating stories which is at http://ksheriffdeen.blogspot.com and the other one at postaweek2011 at wordpress. My problem is I want to write quality articles, hence I toy around with a subject for a long time. Once start to write words flow like water and I finish it and publish it immediately. However, after publishing I will go many times in editing or refining it. Just like many of you my time too is mostly spent on editing and revising and refining the article. In addition I want to move into a dedicated review/affiliate or some sort of a revenue generating blog and working on gaining experience for the same. Having said, I m yet to identify the niche! For the time being its jack of all trade blogs. ;)
1,000 words, once a week, 2 hours on average. The writing is about half that, the messing around with the rest of it is the rest
I tried being a little more frequent but feedback was length was ok, frequency was too high.
I can take up to 1 hour or less, but it also depends on its content of the post.
After having signed up for the Blog a day challenge, I must admit that the average time it takes for me to finish a post has gone from between 1-2 hours to somewhere between 30 mins to 1 hour. I have however experienced a 200% visitor increase.
I spend a lot of time thinking about blog posts, and have a long list of ideas. (My blog promotes the Downtown area of my city.) As a former newspaper copy editor, my inclination is for the writing to be right the first time. And, obviously, spelling and grammar need to be as close to perfect as I can get.
I've found it easier to write first, then edit, then add links and photos. Adding links and photos takes a good bit of time but they're important to the message I'm sharing: a blend of history and current information, where the potential is and why the Downtown needs investment and revitalization.
I'd like to find a way to spend less time writing, but the topic is my passion and I like to include as much information as possible.
The last option was funny :)
Actual writing takes me about 30 minutes or so but I'm thinking about it for probably a few hours - luckily I can multi-task!
I'm finding the discipline of writing every day really helpful to me, now I just get on with it instead of thinking "will I go with this idea or that idea or a completely new one?".
The only problem is checking into the postaday blog and finding comments from so many other interesting bloggers that I then have to go and read! Soon I won't be needing minions to write but I could do with some to read for me!
30 minutes if I'm crafting a post by excerpting text from my book, but 60 minutes if I'm working from the headlines or answering a reader's question.
Of course I'll "run out" of book text in about 2-3 weeks and the book's not coming off the presses until March-- so by then I'll be working from questions, my topic list, and reader's search terms.

I agree with Adini Rizky. Writing takes about half an hour. It's actually the revising and editing that can take the entire day. Also, choosing and uploading photos take time.
If nothing distract my mind, I can finish it in a short time.
I have met a lot of our local bloggers so,for me, blogging is like chatting to my friends.
I have also formed bonds with a lot of Wordpress bloggers which has been great.
I just sit down and rattle away.
I write short posts. Only need 30 minutes to write them, but then I obsess about the one I write on that day for hours and hours. I make small revisions all day long. :)
OK. Hands up. I fall in the 2 to 4 hours category. And it's the one and only reason I don't post more often. I'm with The Laughing Housewife, it's the editing that takes the time. Changing a word here, checking the grammar there. Reading and re-reading.
Less than 15 minutes? Seriously, are there really superheroes?
Ironically, my shortest, simplest posts, where I'm transparently confessing to merely keeping this daily commitment, have received the most responses. That's where people can best relate to us, when we aren't so perfectly edited and beautifully illustrated--or maybe they just don't have time to read the long ones!

Actually, that sounds like more work than it's worth, because I know me....I'd have to do everything they did over, because I didn't like how they did. Scratch the minions, thanks!
The writing doesn't take that long, unless I have a lot of photos to go with my post. I'd guess on average I spend 45 minutes to an hour per post, which includes writing, editing, waiting for photos/other media to upload, proofreading, and looking for links that go along with the post.
I have 1 1/2 minions for the photo part, and some of the writing is old stuff from my magazine articles or oral presentations, reworked. So I cheat. Too bad. :-)
It's not the writing that takes the time - it's the editing. I can't bear spelling mistakes or repetition so I have to fix those; then I check how it flows and jiggle things about; make sure links work; change the font colour...the process takes forever. But I love it!
I could also use a few minions. :) I actually counted how long it has taken, on several occasions, to write a post. If I include the time for thinking, researching, writing, editing, re-writing, sleeping on it, worrying about the way people read what I took so long to write, not to mention finding just the right picture and throwing in a technical glitch or two (my fault completely - not the program) and you have...drumroll please...a very long time. :)
Unfortunately, I don't blog as often as I should. I have no problems with ideas, it is the time to sit down and write. Perhaps that is the reason why most posts are less than 30 minutes to write. Some days I may sit for 15 minutes deciding on which topic I will write because I have too many thoughts for important ones, and the time then becomes my prioritization time. Thanks for the opportunity here!
For my sins, I have been a daily blogger since the Learning from Dogs started on July 15th, 2009. The key to me being able to write is to try and keep a couple of days ahead. Otherwise the pressure of trying to be creative does me in!
So it's not a time thing for me, it's having some mental space to come up with a topic or do the research. My vote did not include time spent staring at the screen waiting for inspiration!
Where can I get some of those minions? I could use some to help me write my sermons. It used to take me a lot longer, but I try to keep actual writing time down to less than an hour. That doesn't count time spent thinking and praying on the topic while doing other things.
Not all of my posts are just copy-and-paste of my sermons; the time required for other topics varies widely. However, most are, and I usually post 6 sermons a week (every day except my day off) so my average sermon writing time = my average post writing time.
