Red light camera's actually cause accidents. People will slam on brakes to avoid the "possibility" of maybe being caught on camera. Plus it is not a safety issue. They are only put up to increase revenue to what ever municipality they were installed. Plus the person caught with one of these has the right to face his/hers accuser in a court of law. The tickets are issued to the person owning the car. Not to who, may be actually driving it.
There are studies that back what I have said. ( http://blog.motorists.org/red-light-cameras-increase-accidents-5-studies-that-prove-it/ )
