Everyone is getting it figured out!
Diehard HMS fan here, and I am not in a panic. Steve & Chad both have said HMS is slightly behind this year due to the big push for the Championship last year. Dale Jr is more ups to speed as he and Tony Jr both started with a clean slate at HMS. Jeff & Jimmie are not that far behind the curve. Casey has been taken out running in the top 10 twice. Winning races is extremely hard to do, see how JGR is still struggling with the 11 and 20 having mediocre races.
it was time to see Roush & RCR do something for a change! I do totally disagree with D Caraviello article on NASCAR.com that the Chase is set after Bristol! This year is not going to be like the last year. HMS will not dominate but will be respectable. Key is going to be which teams pick up on what works the soonest. Just because 1 team came out charging doesn't mean that others will not find something later in the year. HMS is testing more, just not making a big deal out it. Every team out there will have some tracks they do good on and some they don't. Another key will be who gets the edge on the 1-1.5mile cookie cutter tracks. Don't count HMS out until the Fat Lady sings at Homestead! They haven't won the last 2 Cup Championships and a total of 7 by accident! Just My 2 cents.....Claire B keep up keeping us the most informed fans out there!!!!!!!
I think there is a bit of concern within the HMS camp, as they did cancel Easter week off-time to go test with the 48. Their incredible success last year was probably more exception than rule, though. Will they win this year? More than likely. Will they dominate? Probably not. Will HMS teams make the Chase? Sure. The question is, "How many?".
Every team should have the problems that HMS is having. Tiger can't win every golf match, HMS can't win every race. That's why there are 36 races in a season. It's a game of inches, between a good pass and an acident. That's racing.
