Nothing wrong with Five Guys if you want to spend twice as much for the same order you get at In-N-Out. In-N-Out have kept their menu a simple, no hassle experience. Every burger and fries order is fresh and served within minutes. At Five Guys you might have the opportunity to read four chapters of "War and Peace" while waiting for the customer in front of you to decide whether they want mushrooms, onions, olives, broccoli, slaw, mini-wheats, or cashews on their burger. No, give me In-N-Out any day.

Visited Southern California for the first time 2009. Everyone there was ranting and raving about "In N Out" burgers. So after hearing this for about 4 consecutive days, decided to try it. Found out it is really no better than the east coast franchise "Cook Out". I also found out that Southern California never had anything like Cook Out or Five Guys and when finally getting "In N Out" became dedicated fans. The fries at In N Out are not as good as Five Guys. Red Robin is unique in offering burgers that contain toppings that you would never think would taste good but is surprisingly delicious. Only problem I see with Five Guys is that they have zero malts or milk shakes on their menu. They act like a true American burger and fry establishment but do not have the coveted closer!

We got the first 5 Guys in my town in Ventura County (just north of LA County) and after they had been cooking up cow for 6 weeks,I went because it sounded like a great burger. I also knew a guy who worked there and told me it was very good. I need to state at this point in my commentary that I do really like In-N-Out burgers. I will say that I would never consider going back to 5 Guys. The burger was dry. Well done, I expect (nobody wants a customer dying, like happened at Jack In The Box many years ago). Well done, but juicy please! Actually if you want a better burger than either of those two, you need to cruise on over to The Habit. Now there is a burger!!!
