I voted NO. As a retired Texas Police Officer of 30 years I was on the side that few have seen and experienced. I have seen the the horror that people have done to other people and then heard the demands from the public expecting the Police to come in and protect them from that horror. How can the Police protect the public when their are out gunned by the enemy? The enemy dictates the actions of the Police. If they come in, threaten and kill the public carrying automatic assault weapons and the Police only have hand guns and shotguns, we cant protect or defend the public let alone ourselves. The Police need the keep up with the enemy in order to protect the public and be able to go home to their families.
May I suggest that the public ride with a police officer one evening or midnight shift, walk in their shoes for a few hours, get cursed at, spit on, assaulted, have your family threatened, look through their eyes before you say that the Police Departments are over militarized in equipment. If anything most Police Departments are under equipped and under paid for what they have chosen to do.

I voted yes but I think it is out of mecessity because of the attitudes of the public. You must put yourself in their place and situation and ask. "What would I do?"

The actions of police has been appalling. Did anyone drug test the shooter? They drug tested the victim...

The police are supposedly hired/elected to protect and serve, not shoot and beat!
