Discipline appropriate to the misbehavior helps build responsible adults. Children who are left to run wild never learn self control or how to function in society. Prisons are full of them.

The schools seldom know the family dynamics of the children. A child acting out can be a victim of neglect, violence, sexual assault, and/ or mental illness. Spanking is not the way to find what the issues are that are causing the behavior. Call the parents in for a conference for children who act out so badly that it would justify spanking.

A child does not need to be beaten...a quick slap on the butt, or a close facsimile will do the job. The 1-2-3-...does not get it in my book...a child can be dead by the count of 2....discipline from a very early age is appropriate in my book. I was spanked and switched as a child and it has not done anything to hurt me...it just can be taken too far...a line has to be drawn.
