It is a horriffic tradgedy with parents on both sides to suffer. I feel the sentence was a little stiff. I also feel
that rehab, and comminity service like M.M HALLL stated above for at least 5 years, and jail for 3. The parents of the victims will not feel any better even if he received 20 years, I know because I lost my son the same way,
the only difference is Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and the District attorney botched the investigation by not interviewing the driver for 6 hours later, and not diung any sort of sobriety or drug test on the driver even though drug paraphernalia was found at the scene. Politic's makes the world a terrible place to live. May both parents some day have peace, I know I never will.

Marijuana is a recreational drug that should be treated just like alcohol...stay home and smoke your brains out.

I totally agree with M.M.Hall. Well said.

It is sad and unfortunate that two young people were killed. However, they share responsibility in their own death because they had to know the driver was impaired and should have refused to drive with him. My gut tells me they too may have been impaired, and so all are somewhat responsible for this unfortunate accident - not just the driver. I agree with the term of the sentence, but I feel some of it could have been probation time with community service and a mandatory rehabilitation program IF and only IF this was his first offense.
